As far as tells go, feeling cool in roxbury at 59 degrees, 60 henderson and south hill, 63 fayetteville. And temperatures will be rising up to about 82 this afternoon, a warm and comfy day for us with mostly sunny skies. But temperatures are climbing this week ill have a complete breakdown of what you can expect, coming up. Breaking news out of fayetteville, investigating a homicide that happened in the parking lot of a sports bar sometime after 12 30. That business, wings and things on north boulevard. And then it became a violent fight outside where he was left unconscious, he was pronounced dead at cape fear valley hospital, he died from the injuries. No suspect information released as of now. Also, breaking overnight, in fayetteville, police have identified the person in a raleigh road near cessna drive. Investigators say it happened around 9 30 last night. After 39yearold melanie orr lost control and crashed. Police say she was rushed to Cape Fear Medical Center where she later died. The investigation is still ongoing with this crash. This morning, authorities in raleigh are investigating the death of a 17yearold who was found in a 2 30, the caller told them the teenage girl had drowned or been electro kul r cute electrocuted. Neighbors say the pool usually has a life guard but unclear if one was on duty yesterday. Neighbors spoke to us about how they were notified of the death. Well, obviously, were shocked. But they dont know much about it because the police and i have asked the sheriff that i talked to and he said that all he could more. The sheriff says theyre waiting the results of the autopsy to determine how the teenager died. Those results are expected on monday. Hermine left its mark on the Coastal Region of our state, troopers say the driver of the tractor trailer died on the Alligator River bridge just before 10 00. A wind gust of 116 Miles Per Hour was recorded on and over in hatteras, the National Weather service just confirmed an ef1 tornado caused heavy damage at a camping resort. Emergency crews responded early yesterday morning, crews say several peel were rushed to the hospital people were rushed to the hospital but no injuries serious. Two mobile homes were blown off their foundations. For 33 eastern counties to help with response during and after the storm. State emergency Officials Say not many of those extra resources were used, but the heavy downpours across the state, some places did see flash flooding. But not as much as anticipated. We can expect these temperatures to climb in to the low 80s this afternoon. Very similar to yesterday, looking at a high of about 82, the big difference is though, instead of experiencing breezy conditions and kind of a mostly cloudy day, weve got mostly sunny skies in the forecast for your entire sunday. So, expect mostly sunny, dry conditions with low humidity this is all thanks to an area of High Pressure building in over the region here. Now, what once was hurricane hermine and then Tropical Storm hermine is now what we call post tropical, meaning it still has a very strong winds and a center of circulation, however it lost its significance. As we head in the middle of this week, that high starts to slide offshore. What once was hermine is now out of the picture here. We still dry for wednesday, thursday, frid. By saturday, tt slides off to the east, our next cold front arrives and that will bring us the next chance of rain. Dry weather in the forecast until then. As for the 5 00 a. M. Advisory from the National Hurricane center, hermine still has 65 mile per hour winds, gusting to 75 mile per hour. If those winds hit 74 Miles Per Hour, hermine will be hurricane strength once again and it may strengthen as it sits over offshore the midatlantic, pushing off the coast of new england, making its trek out to sea by the end of this upcoming week. Till keeping a close eye on, because the beaches of the northeast could be impacted. Police there are investigating a homicide that happened in the parking hot of a sports parking lot of a sports bar. Calling 301 wings and thats on northeastern boulevard. Investigators tell us the victim got in to some kind of altercation inside the bar and it became a violent fight outside where he was left unconscious. A man is expected to survive after being shot at a hotel. Officers were called to this red roof inn around 3 30 yesterday morning in chapel hill. Its on 15501, south of i40 at the durham Orange County line. The victim was taken to a hot. Hospital. Shots fired but thought it was people making noise. Police are looking for 36yearold benjamin owenburg. They have a warrant out for his arrest, if you know where he might be or more information about this shooting, call chapel hill police. A group of people who live in durham met saturday to discuss ways to bring change in their community. Members of durham beyond policing want more resources invested in to neighborhoods for what they hope will be a better quality of life. Cbs North Carolinas Derrick Lewis reports. We dont just need police, we need affordable housing, better resources, better jobs. Reporter the meeting was to listen, and to discuss how that change can come. Assemblies like this one are a chance for us to hear each would want for our city in terms of safety. Reporter after this meeting, neighbors plan to go in to the community to bring about that change. And i really was inspired by their mission, which is really cultivating the community by taking kids from local areas that wouldnt be able to go to a private school or even college. Sophomore across town at the Durham Academy. Last year, he found out about durham nativity from some of his classmates who graduated from there. I havent really scene seen a school that doesnt have any technology, so i felt i could have a greater impact there. Reporter so this past spring as part of his eagle scout project, he organized an ultimate Frisbee Tournament to raise money for laptops at durham nativity. It netted donations and a discount from lenovo, hoffmanns efforts bought 21 chrome books for nativity. More than enough for each member of the inaugural fifth grade class, which has fewer than 35 students. They grew up with a smartphone, they should know how to create a spread sheet. Johnson and his classmates will be taught on the chrome books. But the lessons they bring go beyond whats on the screen. Just feels good. Im glad the work i was able to do is having a tangible benefit and helping some kids somewhere. Thats what i want these fifth graders and middle schoolers to be like. We will see that sunshine with low humidity values as well. The reason for that is this area of High Pressure that began trying to inch in yesterday, its going to build for us and stay put for tomorrow and that will lead to mostly sunny, dry conditions with low humidity over the start of this upcoming week here. Hermine instituting off the coast sitting o off the coast of the midatlantic, its going to stay there impacting parts of new york, new jersey, delaware, maryland and parts of virginia as well. That High Pressure center starts to move offshore a bit for wednesday, thursday, and friday. So temperatures will be warmer for the end of the week, were heating up but still dry. By saturday, that high moves all the way offshore. Cold front to arrive, bringing us a very small chance for rain. But until then, were completely dry. Now, after the 5 00 a. M. Update, hermine posts tropical, which means it still has a center of circulation, still 65 mile per hour winds. However, the core of the system, the center is no longer warm. So it has a lot of characteristics like a winter time noreaster. Thats going to cause a lot of issues for folks across the pushing its way out over the atlantic by early friday morning. Well keep a close eye, beach erosion, rip currents, heavy rain for coastal areas and the northeast a possibility over the next several days. As far as temperatures back home, 80 raeford, fort bragg, pinehurst, benson, 80 wilson and rocky mount. 82 durham, 81 henderson and roxboro, 80 south virginia. Following 61 degrees, a comfortable and calm night, calm winds, clear skies, temperatures in the low 60s. I think it is safe to give those air conditioners a bit of a break tonight. I know mine got a break yesterday, temperatures only around 80 degrees, 82. So a nice afternoon today. Well start in the 60s tomorrow up to 86 degrees tomorrow afternoon for labor day, 89 degrees on tuesday, still starting off Tuesday Morning in the 60s.
