We are talking about wayne county in particular right around the goldsboro area. The neuse river is expected to crest today. Its happening pretty much as we speak, and then well be falling, but kinston river, the neuse river is not expected to crest unt feet. Near the Cape Fear River in fayetteville falling below flood stage by tomorrow morning. So certainly a light at the end of the tunnel for some of you, water though still rising along the tar river as well. Well get to the latest on that in a moment. We are looking at pretty clear skies as we start off our wednesday morning, which is great news for us as all that water continues to be very high and dangerous. 48, a chilly morning for you. The 54yearold man was driving saturday night when his hi the high water. The water swept his car into the creek and the man could not get out of his car. Currently im on the greenway at the neuse river many smithfield. As you can see, youre able to see the grass just a few feet out. You can hardly tell how deep that water really is. The last night the National Weather service said the neuse river at goldsboro hit a new record of 29. 5 feet. That level exceeds the hurricane floyd record by about 9 inches. Theres still a Flood Warning as we mentioned for here and some other parts of our viewing area through tonight. Students here in Johnston School until at least next monday. So far there have been a total of 18 stormrelated deaths. Three of them here in Johnston County where all three were in cars when their cars were swept away by flood waters. Not only are these conditions not safe to drive in, you need to be aware that some of these flood waters contain sewage. It should feel nice, very fall like as your normal high is right around 74. We will cool off quickly this pressure off to our northeast. We have a cold front back to our west. That cold front will be approaching us, not impacting us whatsoever today. Sunshine still dominating our forecast. That cold front moves through thursday into friday. It is going to drop our temperatures, but High Pressure is right behind it. You wont notice otherwise except that temperature drop that a cold front actually moved through as we head into the upcoming weekend. Lets go ahead and look at this. Sunshine today, it continues as we head into the afternoon hours as coast later today. Thatsot going to impact us much. As we head into our thursday, sunshine to start. Youll notice up to our north and west, that area of rain, thats that cold front, but as it approaches our area, none of that rain actually going to make it to the ground. Well stay dry as that front passes through. Now remember, we do have Flood Warnings still in effect really watching the neuse and tar rivers, which in many locations are expected to crest later today, and then fall below later this week.
