City and Community Leaders are calling for calm, patient and a thorough investigation but heres what we know. Shortly after noon on monday 24 yearold akiel denkins was shot and killed by Raleigh Police officer, 29yearold d. C. Twiddy Raleigh Police chief says a gun was found near akiel denkins body, we also know he was wanted on a warrant but there are so many things we do not know. North carolina News ReporterSteve Sbraccia speaking with the Community Leader today. Reporter she tells me that the spi was brought sbi was sbi says they are treating akiel denkins as our client and they say the raleigh Police Department is the subject of its investigation. Behind me, right now, the area where akiel denkins was killed. Still a lot of questions about that. Lets walk through the process and tell you what the sbi says has to be done. First of all, they have taken the guns involved, both the one belonging to the officer as well as the one found at the scene. They are doing ballistics test on them. They are interviewing witnesses. Background investigations on all of the officers involved. They have attended the autopsy and they are listening to all radio traffic, 911 calls and examining the physical evidence at the scene including evidence that will be sent to the crime lab. The District Attorney told me, at this point, she wants a thorough investigation areas he wanted to take time, and she says she does not want any mistakes.
