Four people are dead and dozens hurt after a bus crashed on i70 for today in rocking him. Good evening thank you for joining us. That bus was carrying a football team. Cbs North Carolina janavel is live on the scene. This happened hours ago. I understand the road is still closed in crews are still there . Reporter thats right bus was actually still here behind me a few minutes ago. If you can see, it was just picked up by the tow truck a few minutes ago and move. Crews are picking up some of the shrapnel from the bus and putting it inside. If you look at the front, it is that is where Law Enforcement say it crashed into the median. We have not here all day with Law Enforcement in they tell us this is one of the worst accidents theyve seen. This is probably one of the most tragic accidents because i put in this context. You have young people. Reporter a bus carrying 46 students in Football Players from Ramah Jucco Academy crashed. They were on their way to play university of gods chosen in fayetteville. Four were killed. Some were te regional hospitals. Two were taken to unc for serious trouble. Officials with state Highway Patrol said preliminary investigations show the buses front tire blew out causing it to crash into a meeting. The speed limit on the road is 70 miles per hour. The road were shut down both eastbound and westbound however, cars were able to use the offramp to avoid the incident the to the jeff gordon with North CarolinaHighway Patrol said, sadly, family members following the bus saw the whole thing happen. Tonight. Reporter again, they have been out here for hours cleaning up this mess. You can see crews behind me over my shoulder, picking up parts of the bus and parts of the median and parts of the guard rail and throwing it into the bus windows behind it. I was speaking with Law Enforcement a little while ago and ey here for much longer. The investigation for this crash could go on for weeks or months before its completed. They say about 25 people were hurt, none of the injuries appears to be lifethreatening. The blast happened around 8 30 pm in the chelsea section of manhattan. Witnesses say fbi and Homeland Security officials are on the scene. Fire officials tell us most of the injuries were minor but some people were taken to area hospitals for treatment. In new jersey, the fbi is investigating an explosion that happened in a trashcan along the route of a Marine Charity race. Reporter a hole in this plastic trashcan just as runners in the simplified charity race were due to pass. I heard it and i yelled to my neighbor instead, what was that . Reporter but heavy turnout for the race benefiting marines and sailors slowed registration and delayed the start. No runners were on the course and no one was hurt. That was actually a good thing. Had it not been delayed we officials said three small pipes were tethered together, all had explosives but only one went off the new jersey commerce congressman, tom mccarthy was briefed. It was clearly intended to go off at a certain hour and there was intent to hurt people. It was on a timer .
