Of course well have more expected on the totals coming im going to send it over to kristin who has a check on traffic. No major issues to report on area roadways. We are seeing some frozen precipitation already beginning to fall outside. Keep that in mind. Youll want to avoid traveling today if at all possible. Were currently not seeing any type of wintery precipitation falling, traffic is moving fine in both directions there, and again, weve got no major issues to report. Its moving in to central north carolina. Charlotte already seeing some wintery weather here around central north carolina. I said were kind of in the waiting pattern. Look, its on our doorstep. Southern portions of wake county looking at a few flurries. Im looking at orange in durham county. Youre look ago at north of hillsborough, north of i40 is where theyre seeing light snow. Chapel hill a few flurries. You work your way further south. Thats where were looking at slightly milder air which means more of a mixture. It looks like sleet and freezing rain around sanford this morning. As we travel further south we are looking at more of that wintery mix this morning. Heres what were thinking as here in raleigh, im going to point out wake county in particular, southern portions of wake county could receive an inch or two. You travel toward the northern portions toward the airport, r it, p briar creek youre looking at 3 to 5 inches of snow. Going through durham and chapel hill as well towards Person County, northern portions of granville and mecklenburg county, virginia could see between 5 and 10 inches of snow. Ice is going to be a huge concern. The bulls eye of the ice has slid to our west. Chapel hill, Orange County, durham county, Chatham County could receive half an inch of ice. As you move north, Cumberland County, spring lake, wade, youre dealing with a sleet mixture there. Throughout the day. We could be talking about impressive ice totals. Well get to that in a moment. Youll see this includes very big areas for us. It includes durham, northern positions of raleigh, southern thats hillsborough. Thats chapel hill. Further south, southern portions wake county, this is faulk v, Holly Springs area 1 to 3 inches possible. This area in white, 5 to 10 inches of snow and sleet pox. This is going to be critical causing power outages. We all know these temperatures very cold. Its going to be crucial to stay warm. The bulls eye of ice off to our from where we were thinking yesterday, siler industry, Chatham County, Orange County, Person County, a half inch of ice possible. For the majority of wake county, about a quarter inch possible. The ice is only part of the battle because the winds are going to pick up. I do expect them to stay at that freezing mark which means they are dealing with sleet, freezing rain, snow for the majority of the day. Fayetteville you should reach 36. Now with tonight most of this wintery mix is going to taper off. The catch, anything thats left, all of that moisture is going to change over to snow. Were going to be dropping into the upper 20s overnight, and i do think theres that light accumulating snow on saturday morning. Saturday afternoon a high of only 35 so dont expect a lot of what we see to actually melt throughout the day. Were into the 40s, plenty of sunshine on sunday, nice melting there, and as we head into early next week. 48 on monday, the 50 are back for next tuesday. Its 4 21.
