It shows a couple walking up fulton street last night as they cross South Portland street, an suv barrels into them from behind. Police say the driver swerved to avoid a stopped city bus, jumping the curb, striking and killing a 30yearold woman and injuring her boyfriend. And this all happened in front of horrified witnesses. Heard everybody screaming, saw the two people laying on the ground. I ran across the street and saw the lady just face down on the sidewalk. Police say she stabbed her husband nelson in the chest several times. They were having a fight in their bronx apartment. The couple has two children. Theres no word as to whether they were home at the time. A robbery at a mall in riverside, california, sparked panic when shoppers thought someone was firing a gun. Officers say they found cocaine in his car. He was also wanted on a warrant for failure to appear in court on a previous charge. Bernstein is the wrestling coach at staples high school. Announced today to help reduce the number of Overdose Deaths in new york city. The plan will make a medication that reverses certain overdoses available at pharmacies without a prescription. According to health officials, the death rate from drug overdoses has climbed more than 4 400 since 2010. Londons latest terror attack is causing a big online discussion. One person has been taken to the hospital, a 30yearold woman. She has burns on her arm and on her face. There were a total of six people in this house when the fire broke out around 4 30 this morning. One of them a child. We dont know the age of the child. However, they were able to get out on their own. Firemen have been on scene ever since trying to get this thing to stop smoldering, which is what its down right now. Still some stubborn burning going on inside the house. But as far as the folks getting out, they were able to get out, scramble, wake up. But even neighbors had to flee their homes. You woke up and what did you see . Already blazing in fire. What did you do . I just ran outside. Dont actually have an idea what has happened. So i just run out. Reporter a lot of people just with sheets around them. Thats all they could grab as they tried to flee bhafs a very intense fire for a few brief moments until the fdny got on the scene and was able to put some water on it. Happening right now, a driver facing charges after a deadly crash on a brooklyn sidewalk. Police say the driver swerved to avoid a stopped city bus and jumped the curb, striking and killing a 30yearold woman. Two other people were hurt as well. Killing a Good Samaritan is charged with murder. Froylan lopez was arrested yesterday. Police say lopez stabbed troy brandon to death saturday night. Brandon was walking to his home on monticello avenue in jersey city. He stopped to help someone who had been attacked. Thats when brandon was stabbed. He died just an hour later. Bond for lopez set at a million dollars. The department of justice will begin an investigation into the Chicago Police following the shooting death of a teenager. 17yearold Laquan Mcdonald was shot by officer Jason Van Dyke. Van dyke is charged with mcdonalds murder after a video of the incident was released last month. Attorney general Loretta Lynch is expected to announce the investigation later this week. Weve seen firefighters go right into this house. Really, the house is just a mess right now. As a matter of fact, you can see theyre peeling off some of the siding because theyre trying to get into the still smoldering smoke up there in the attic. Six people scrambled for their lives earlier around 4 30. Even as the house appears to be a total loss, they were able to get out, including a child. Although, one woman, 30 years old, was indeed overcome by the flames and had burns on her arm and on her face. So he was taken to the hospital. Shes now being treated there. The other five people who were in the house are okay according to the fair department. They were being evaluated on the scene as were two firefighters. But the house, as you can see, not much left. Jerseys bear hunt begins, and this year the hunt is expanding into areas of passaic and mercer counties where suburban bears have become a problem. The state holds an annual sixday hunt to thin the growing black bear population. Protesters have said the hunt is inhumane and unnecessary. Happening today, congressman dan donovan and supporters will be at city hall to support the zadroga act. Yesterday First Responders and families joined politicians at ground zero. They want politicians to extend funding to the bill before going on holiday break in less than a week. The act provides medical care to those suffering from 9 11related illnesses. New initiative today to help prevent Overdose Deaths. The plan will make a medication that reverses certain overdoses available to city pharmacies without a prescription.
