Just down the road from here, 20 kids were trapped at a nearby school. A Good Samaritan had to go in and save them. It was a wild day of extreme weather. It hit with fury, pounding rain, relentless marblesized hail and then hopefully it stops. I know. Reporter the mudslide. One of californias busiest freeways covered in mud and brought to a standstill overnight, cars, semi trucks snaking down interstate 5 all the mud just came from right here and just wedged us in. Reporter mountainswerumbled into pieces, pouring into streets, swallowing dozens of cars, destroying homes. Witnesses could feel the power and hear the rumble. It was just like a freight train. Reporter in some spots the mud several feet deep. The crippling flash flooding triggering at least four rescues. Children pulled to safety. First responders ordered evacuations. No one hurt, but nearly everyone, especially drivers, caught by lerprise. Took about maybe 20 seconds, 30 seconds for all this to happen. It was very, very scary. Reporter nearly 6 inches of rain an hour hammered some neighborhoods. Too much water too quickly for parched hills hardened by four years of drought. This powerful storm system, the most dangerous weather seen by for now this vicious punch has passed, but this morning there is plenty of damage left behind. Throw everything in. If you need a little bit more stock, add more stock. If you need a little bit less than dont add as much. How about the spicew. Yes, if you would, ive got some chilisaowder and some dried sage. Go for t. Sage goes so well with Butternut Squash and chili powder, kind of like the apple a nice kick against the sweet of the Butternut Squash. A little salt and peple. A little salt and pepper and let that saute for seven or eight minutes until they caramelize and add in the stock. Pretend they are caramelized. And well pretend again and this is what it looks like after it starts to cook down a little bit. After to minutes this is what youre looking for, the veggies have cooked down and smells phenomenal. People are looking that the and thinking a lot of times youll get there. In life its all about options, can teeth like this if youre a fan of chunky soups or you can puree it. And once thats good and kind of sauteed youve got that good bacon fat. Because youre sauteing all this stuff in bacon fast. Night a light dish but just dont eat all day. No. And the then its fine. Now i usually like to leave three of the jalapenos with seeds in them because i like it spicier. Got a kick, its good. Half a teaspoon of cayenne instead of a quarter teaspoon but my family is used to me. They can handle the spice. You do something thats really cool with the spices. We warm them up and toast them and that just enhances their flavor and you can tell when they are ready pause you can smell it, but if you go too far they burn. And then you throw that . Throw that . Okay. And know you can now you can really smell it. Thats tasty. Now you add your liquids. Youre going to add your beef. If you wanted to you can do turkey or chicken. Sure, absolutely.
