The mother of a newborn baby found dead on long island could face a judge today. Her appearance comes as we learn disturbing details about that death. Reporter she was a mother for just a short period of time. Nassau county police say 20yearold Sharon Seudat as far as we know it was a healthy baby until it succumbed to the asphyxiation. Reporter her family found her bleeding and called 911. The doctors suspected she had given birth yet she denied it. Detectives found the baby in a plastic garbage bag on the back deck of the house. There was a point where the mother thought it was more than just having excessive bleeding. Was the mother fully aware she gave birth to a full term baby . We believe no. Reporter seudat had a parttime job at a car wash. Why she hid her pregnancy and then murdered her own child is not clear. I dont know the answer to that. I dont think ill ever know the answer to that. Reporter police reminded us of the safe haven law. She could have taken the baby to a hos tal or a fire station, no questions asked. In the meantime, shes being charged with Second Degree murder and is scheduled to appear before a judge in the morning. New this morning, a School Administrator in new jersey is in big trouble accused of stealing thousands from her school. Worked at the Charter School to 2015. During that time, prosecutors say she spent more than 75,000 on herself in school funds. She faces up to ten years in prison if convicted. We now have video of the suspect who attacked and robbed a 103yearold woman in the bronx. Take a look at this. Police say this woman followed the victim up to her apartment yesterday afternoon. The vehicle ended up striking the nanny critically injuring her. The nanny when she saw the vehicle coming at her, she pushed the carriage out of the way and then she took the impact of the vehicle on herself. I thought that was incredible, honestly. The fact she got the baby out of the way. Police say the 70yearold driver was making a turn and did not see the nanny. That driver is not facing any charges. Lead testing has been done on the water in several newark schools, parents want some real answers about the risks to their childrens health. Lori bordonaro has that story. Reporter the first round of test results are in, the findings a big concern for newark parents. So far eight schools have been tested for high levels of lead. 324 samples taken. 76 of those samples resulted in levels above the 15. 5 parts per billion. We reached out to an environmental expert and had them come in and test our water. Weve received those results back and those results were reporter but shes not taking chances. There are things you can do quickly and easily to give your pet a better chance of being reunited with you. David is here to explain. This is the time of year they might run off. There are basic things you can do this morning to help out. Absolutely. The first thing you want to do before they actually get lost is make sure they have a microchip. Make sure they have collar and id tags. Thats the best way to get your pet back. Talk about the microchip. Its not painful. Its like an injection of a vaccine. Its like a grain of rice in the shoulder blades. Its injected right there in the back. And it sits there and carries an id number that when they scan it they read it and it traces back its totally harmless. Its simple and easy. We run a lot of vaccination and microchipping clinics over the summer. We try to do it low cost. And thats something you can get a pet no matter their age. Yeah. And not only that, we make sure every pet we adopt out has its microchip already. Most shelters do now. We do all those services. So youre safe. If your animals not, you want to get that done. You realize stories sometimes the cat jumps on a train and theyre in florida and they find out its your cat. Weve had a couple recently the pet disappears for two years. We had one last week that someone saw their pet on a segment like this in North Carolina tv station. And theres a microchip for that. In that instance its only a microchip. Thats the rare cases. Most instances they dont go too far from where they are. But theyre going to hide and theyre very good hiders. High somewhere and were not going to find him. So theyre very good hiders. You want to make sure to check around. First you want to the go to the shelter and make sure you file a lost pet report. We do lost and found matching on all the pets that come in. We love to return pets to their owners. Its the best outcome for them. And important to have current photos of your pet too. You can put fliers in the neighborhood. Obviously, you know, if cats there are a lot of varied cats and dogs, breeds, colors. Its hard to tell its your pet if you just say i lost my brown dog. Tell us about who you have today.
