Around 5 20 this morning when a 23yearold female was running through Prospect Park, she says a man came from behind her, he threw her to the ground, he took out a knife and said he was going to sexually assault her. The victim, were told, that fought back, and thats when the attacker took off, running. Folks here in the park that we talked to obviously understandably very upset. Im completely surprised. Seems like the last place that would ever happen. I have to think it is a fluke occurrence. Not going to stop me from coming every morning. Yeah, it is upsetting. Reporter now, as a 23yearold female was fighting with her attacker, she did get cut on the hand. Her attacker had a knife. She did get cut on the hand, taken to a local hospital. Were tweold shell be just fine. Couple of things youll want to remember, Prospect Park, a busy park. Right now, as we sprung forward with time, around 5 15, 5 30, dawn is starting to break. In the morning time, you will have several runners, so police hoping somebody who is running here on the trails, they hope they saw something.
