Temperatures climb into the mid 30s right along the shorelines. But to the north and west we stay below the freezing mark. Thats tonight at 9 00. Police shot a suspect in the arm after a confrontation at a housing complex in the bronx. That is the gun they say this man, 29 years old was waving in street alerts three comes on patrol to help. Two officers fired their guns. One of them hit that man in the shoulder. He was sent to lincoln hospital. Were told he is expected to be okay. None of the officers are injured. The tragic end to the cargo ship el faro will be the focus of a coast guard ship tomorrow. Yo au can already see it turning to rain along the jersey shore. A little bit of mixed precip through brooklyn and queens into nassau and suffolk. It is still snowing moderately in new york city. Is is a closer look as you head up the jersey shore. We are going to see rain. But if you push inland into areas like hamilton and edison, theres still plenty of snow. Do awn into ocean county, all rain right along the shorelines. Were expecting upwards of two to four inches plus icy conditions to the knot and north and west. Just a coating to rain quickly as weve already seen on that live radar picture through Suffolk County and down to the jersey shore. But everyone could see icy conditions on the roads. Youve really got to be careful sidewalks are so cold because of that hyper freeze that we saw over t e last 24 hours. We have delays at la guardia and jfk and newark because of deicing conditions. Slows everything down. Lets go to a live picture of newark airport. You can see limited visibility. They have to clear the runways and the taxiways and they have to deice all that equipment. Its going to be a slow go for people coming back into the city and leaving after the holiday weekend. Were going to see temperatures rapidly rising, actually rising more rapidly right along the shoreline. Slower as we head up to the north and west. Temperatures are going to climb quickly tomorrow up to about 50 degrees. Windy and its going to be like springtime rain, heavy rain after 2 00 tomorrow afternoon. So thats what we need to prepare for, heavy rain and thunderstorms, gusts up to 45 miles per hour. Up to an inch and a quarter of rain and localized street flooding. Janice huff is tracking the storm for us. It is changing rapidly. Were starting to see it changing over to freezing rain down around philadelphia and parts of central new jersey. Freezing rain is rain that freezes on impact with very cold surfaces. And all the surfaces extremely cold still from the last few days. Bit of a changeover, a little bit of rain even. From the city northward we are seeing all snow. Still snowing but that rainsnow line is coming very close to the boroughs now and well start to see a bit of changeover to the city in a matter of hours. Slippery messy travel out there tonight. A winter storm advisory is in effect until midnight for all counties. Were going to be tracking temperatures. Theyre going to be warming up over the next 24 hours and we may even have a bit of thunder and lightning in the area tomorrow.
