Right now it centers around this man, 38yearold cedric ford who police say was armed with a highpowered rifle and a pistol when he opened fire late yesterday. Ford was killed by police after taking the lives of three other employees at the workplace they shared. Abcs Clayton Sandell is here in kansas. Reporter police say 38yearold cedric ford started his rampage shooting at random heading to excel industries in hesston, kansas where he worked. To have Something Like this is tragic. Reporter ford heads inside armed with a rifle and handgun and opens fire on lis and then i seen a mob of people start running out saying run, run. Pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, thats all i heard. Everybody started scattering out of the building and i didnt realize what happened till i got Reporter Police and witnesses say ford kept shooting until a single officer, first to arrive fires back. There was a particular Law Enforcement here in hesston that responded right away. And even though he took fire, he went inside of that place and saved multiple multiple lives. A hero as far as im concerned. Reporter in the end, four employees including the shooter would not survive. Many more wounded. Inside the building, he shot a total of 15 people. Reporter around 150 employees were inside at the time. Worried friends and family i just cant believe that the guy that shot people up lived right across the street from us. Reporter not much is known yet about the victims who have not been identified. Ford has an extensive criminal record in florida.
