Wmurs mike cronin has the latest developments from laconia. Mike firefighters had the flames knocked down quickly, but it was difficult for them just to even get to the building. Slides were operational at surf coaster usa in laconia. Last night, part of this former water park was on fire. Terri hooper and then, it just engulfed and just kept getting higher and higher. Mike terri hooper took this video near weirs beach around midnight showing the main office of the old park covered in flames. Terri hooper i looked up the hill. The next thing you know, i was like, oh my god, the woods are on fire. We called it in, and we just belmont, and gilford battled the one alarm fire which theyre calling suspicious. Chad vaillancourt it was about 30 by 30 building, fully involved. Mike it took them about two hours to put out the blaze. Chad vaillancourt there was some collapsing of the building. Mike no one was hurt. Reaching the fire though was a challenge for firefighters because of the vegetation and trees that have grown in, and they couldnt get their trucks to the building. Chad vaillancourt we had to lay quite a bit of hand lines in to mike despite that setback, the weekend rain actually helped them get the fire under control. Chad vaillancourt the vegetation, the brush, the trees were fairly wet. If it was still dry, like we had dry weather recently, we wouldve had a large spread of fire throughout the tree and brush. Cherise the state fire marshal has determined the cause of a fire at a Dartmouth College dorm. Investigators say a small hibachistyle charcoal grill was left unattended on the roof of morton hall and started the fire. The school is providing about 70 students who were living in the dorm with temporary housing. The state fire marshals offi is helping bridgewater fire officials investigate what started a mobile home fire. It happened on mayhew turnpike around 7 00 friday night. Everyone made it out safely, but the mobile home is a total loss. Authorities say working smoke alarms made all the difference in this case.
