Chris its drizzly out there, but thats the start of weather drama as weve got a line of rain thats ready to move on through and its not going to end as rain by the time the day is all said and done. Mentioned, starting off the morning as calm as a drizzly foggy morning can be. But we have some steady rain into the southern part of the state right now. You may notice off to the west that green is colored blue, where rain is changing to snow because we have a dramatic cooldown coming in, a blustery and colder afternoon. Temperatures starting off the morning in the 40s, dropping into the 30s, and rain will change to snow and even accumulate in the northern and the higher elevations. This just into the news room, Manchester Police are on the scene of a crash that happened before 5 00 this morning, 245 eddie road, a vehicle crashed into a utility pole and right now the road is closed and no word if anyone was injured. One person has tied after a trash on tilton, laconia road. One of the drivers had to be extricated with life threatening injuries. Both were taken to the hospital where one passed away. Laconia road near danger road, they reconstructed the scene. Neithers name has been released. Turning to New Hampshires drug two people are one step closer to recovery as nashuas safe Station Program received its first clients, wmurs Siobhan Lopez has the story. Nashua firefighters and their partners at amr are on the front lines in the fight against the Opioid Epidemic every day. Troy, they responded to three overdoses in the city. While they were able to save each person using nor they hope people will reach out before its too late. The people coming here, they know they need a change in thir lives. Each is a designated safe station. Anyone looking to be connected with a recovery. They saved their first. And a 20yearold came with his dad. Program and they opened in may and six people have gotten help. Its a tool in the toolbox, the first step for these people to get clean. Were hoping with programs like this, we can make a difference. Nashua had four deadly overdoses this month. First responders say the success of the program will come when people are ready to ask for help. They just d turn and they are ready to try and stop and thats when we want to catch these folks, thats the critical time, when theyre ready for help. Siobhan lopez, news 9. Jamie a massachusetts construction worker was killed after he was hit in the throat with a power saw. It happened in duxbury. When they arrived they found a 28yearold man suffering from injuries. Occupational and safety is investigating. For Granite Staters having trouble paying their heating bills. The fuel Assistance Program helps vulnerable families in their homes. Federal funds have already been released. So far about 14,000 homes have been approved to take part in this program. Its extremely important. Last winter, we all know, we had a mild wi, be, for people who have fuel, its only a partial payment so for them to manage it through the winter is important. The programs served more than 30,000 households last year. Climate experts say that this situation is frozen in time. As we said, as the stratus progressed over the fall. The plane was taking a Heart Disease patient to a utah hospital when it crashed in a friday night. Three crew members and the patient were killed. Police say the plane experienced mechanical problems before crashing. Now to a developing story out of india where at least 96 people are dead after part of a passenger train rolled off the tracks. Officials say 14 train cars jumped the track at around 3 a. M. Local time. Trapping hundreds of people inside. More than 200 people were also injured in the accident. Responders missed a toddler, a toddler in the back seat after a serious car crash. Officials say the threeyearold girl was in an suv that was involved in an accident monday. Somehow, no one saw the girl who was thrown to the cars floorboard. She was later found by the towing company that took the s. U. V. To a junkyard. The threeyearold was later taken to the hospital. The coldest in the western part of the state and thats where well change to snow in the higher terrain. We may touch 50 drop in the afternoon. Snow showers, lows in the 20s and 30s and even places like manchester, the sea coast could see a passing flurry although there i dont see significant accumulation potential. Areas off to the north and west, we could see, one, two, possibly three inches of snow in elevations above 5,000 feet by tomorrow afternoon. Speaking of tomorrow. What, folks, your next five days isnt going to get a whole lot warmer. Temperatures in the 30s to 40s, say goodbye to the 50s and 60s. One bright so spot on this, the next several days will be wednesday, the day before thanksgiving, decent travel not only here, but the entire northeast, looks like thanksgiving day itself could give way to light rain and snow showers, although i dont think that travel will be an issue and snow, no major accumulation, but there is a coastal storm that could spin up friday night and early saturday and time will tell on that forecast, confidence is low. The annual tons of turkey food drive starts at six local hanneford supermarkets where customers buy food for families at new horizons. Event organizers from 965 the food were collected. Its been a great response. I think all the stores are going to have record years this year. Help other people put thanksgiving meals on the table at that usually go without. Thats why we like to help out the new horizons food pantry. Along with 8 percent turkeys going home. Theyre signing people up for a christmas basket delivery. Volunteers deliver will 1,000 baskets next month. Theyre known to our food pantry weve been fortunate so were taking time and giving for those less fortunate. New horizons say more than 150 volunteers have made the thanksgiving drive possible. Its this kind of generosity that makes the holidays better for families like martinos. Less money to spend on food when you dont have it, its much appreciated, believe me. Ive got two children a turkey dinner. They will be distributed again at new horizons on tuesday. The community of keene came together to raise over 20,000 cans of food for a local food pantry this weekend. All part of the 1,000 cans in 1 is,000 minutes event. The group moms on a mission hosted the canned food drive at the Community Kitchen in keene. There were almost 23,000 cans donated. Now an update we brought you earlier this wek after a bench that was meant to spread kindness at the Auburn Village school was vandalized. The girl scout troop bought the buddy bench. I was going to say thunderstorms, not quite. Thats stretching through the seacoast area and up to the upper valley, south to north. Off to the west you might moderate to heavy snow from the capital of of new york through bennington, vermont and thats going to shift to the east. Heaviest of the snow will be in the adirondacks and the Green Mountains, but we will see some in our White Mountains as well. Good news, the storm moves by and its going to take a long time to do so, rather tranquil weather, so the travelling should be ok. Western New Hampshire. Windy and cold and temperatures are falling. The futurecast showing a swirl of clouds and rain and that changes to snow on a very, very blustery westerly wind and in the North Country, the White Mountains, really into tuesday. What are we talking about in terms of snowfall . Not much right now. Its off to the west. As we move the time forward, we are is going to start to accumulate and in western New Hampshire, higher terrain, elevations above 1500 or 2000 feet we are going to see some significant snowfall. Based on this, about two inches or so, some of the darker blue areas, indicate areas four or more, look what theyre getting in the Green Mountains. Over a foot in some of the higher terrain. Even the northern and western inches of snow by the time all is said and done. Talk about maybe doing some skiing for this thanksgiving, its certainly going to stay cold enough as we work into thanksgiving. Overnight tonight, 20s and 30s, but the wind will make it feel at least 10 degrees colder. And here is your next five days, temperatures remaining during the day in the upper 30s and lower 40s. Theres the decent travelling day on wednesday. Perhaps some light preciti thursday, that lingers into friday. Keeping close eye on the coastal storm could make things dramatic here by next saturday. New this morning, Manchester Police are investigating a crash. It happened jt this morning at 2 45 eddy road, a vehicle crashed into a utility pole. Eversource has cleaned up the downed wires and that area is back open. No word what caused the crash or if anyone was injured. One person has died after a headon crash in tilton, it happened on laconia road around 6 15 last night. One of the drivers had to be extricated with the life threatening injuries and both one did pass away. They reconstructed the scene and neither persons name has been released. It is getting colder outside and now help is available for Granite Staters for help with paying the heating bills. The Assistance Program helps vulnerable families and seniors heat their homes. This week it opened two weeks early because the federal funds have been approved to take part in that program. Its extremely important. Last winter we know we had a mild winter. We never know from one year to the next how its going to be. And for people who get fuel assistance its only a partial payment, its extremely important. The program served more than 35,000 households last year. With winter just around the corner, climatologists are winter, the current Drought Conditions will last until march. Any precipitation, will its ice or snow, it will be on the surface. The deeper ground water supply will not be replenished. A lasting snow pack will last over time to improve conditions in the spring. The Holiday Season got off to an early start at the annual holiday parade. Now to a developing story out of india, where at least 100 people were killed after part of a passenger train rolled off the tracks. 14 train cars jumped the track around 3 a. M. Local time. Trapping hundreds of people inside. Around 150 people were also injured in that accident. Investigators in texas are trying to figure out how first car crash. Officials say the threeyearold girl was in an suv involved in an accident monday. Somehow no one saw the girl who was thrown to the cars floorboard. She was later found by the towing company that took the suff s. U. V. To the junkyard. She was later taken to the hospital. No word on her condition. The snow showers continue north ap west in the higher terrain where there could be a one to three inch accumulation above 1500 or 2000 feet in elevation, blustery, cold weather. There are your temperatures, 20s, you notice the coldest weather still off to the west and mildest weather, if you will, 32 degrees, south and this storm is going to get stuck over us for while so its not intense, but there will be snow showers continuing with snow squalls in the North Country and the White Mountains and there, you could see a few inches for a total of 3 to 6 inches of snow and thats not going anywhereas we head toward the thanksgiving week because even though we have good travel coming up on wednesday, you notice the high temperatures never really climb much out of the upper 30s and lower 40s. Fire Officials Say the man was cutting down the tree on Franklin Pierce high school when the incident occurred. Officials say he may have washed ashore in hall yesterday. Police received a report that along the beach at 9 30 rocks yesterday morning. They later identified the man as 51yearold douglas king of waymouth. Investigators do not inspect foul play. He was wearing a wet suit. A life jacket was found nearby, but he was not wearing it at the time. It is a small town in New Hampshire, but we are very busy here in pittsfield and we ha we are so it definitely keeps us busy. This summer, Police Received a cyber tip about a young girl. In pittsfield who was a victim initially was messaging a 34yearold man. The suspect was 836 miles away in fort wayne, indiana. Detective martineau moved quickly and went to the victims home and knocked on the door. Idea. Children interacting with strangers through cell phone apps such as kick. Sending nude photos and videos. A phone tip alerted missing and exploited children who contacted detectives in indiana and New Hampshire, launching an interstate investigation. A tough age for a girl, i can tell you that. So he definitely took advantage of social media and used that entice her into doing whatever he wanted her to do on the internet. Investigators soon discovered the case involves two victims, images of the girls younger sibling were found on the device as well. It went on for months. She groomed and manipulated through the internet through somebody who took advantage of, you know, social media, you know, the kick app is what he used to lure her in on the internet. I would argue its probably talking about cell phones. She says theyre pivotal to prosecuting these cases. In this particular case, the use of the cell bright forensic tool, which is a tool use today download, extract content from cell phones. Icac is the Internet Crime against Children Task force. Wardner volunteers for the task force when she has time between homicide se news 9 investigates got rare access inside the icac lab to see how evidence is extracted, logged and stored. This is a cell bright, Expensive Technology capable of retrieving even some deleted data from devices. In 1998, one of the first ten task forces in the conduct. The sergeant is the commander of icac headquartered in the Norris Cotton Federal Building in manchester. The department of homeland on the front lines when search warrants are served. The Portsmouth Police department manages the federal grants supporting icac currently just 265,000 a year. And they receive 30 cyber tips a month and relies on borrowing trained investigators from 90 affiliate agencies to volunteer when their fulltime jobs allow. We continue to grow and cases continue to come in so in the last four to five years underinvestigating these types of crimes. At a time when cyber crime against children is exploding, the funding has been cut dramatically. A decade ago, vermont, New Hampshire and maine shared regional funding of a half Million Dollars. There are a lot of targets here in New Hampshire that we cant investigate because we simply dont have the time or the resources to do. Even southern New Hampshire to the coast could see a passing flurry or a light snow shower. No accumulation and the ground too warm for that, at least along the shore. Nashua firefighters and partners at amr are on the front line against the Opioid Epidemic every day. Overdoses in the city and they were able to respond with narcan, they hope more people will reach out for help before its too late. The people coming here at the time a point in their life where they need to make a change and theyre looking for help. Each is designated a safe station. Anyone looking can go there for help and received the first walk in saturday morning. A young man in his early 20s thinks which is common. The man was evaluated and sent to harbor home and put into a recovery program. And nashua is following in manchesters footsteps. Around 600 people have gotten help. Its a tool in the toolbox of the the first step for people to get clean. Were hoping that with programs like this, we can make a difference. Nashua has already had four deadly overdoses this month. First respoer people are ready to ask for help. They just dont know where to turn and they are ready to try and stop and thats when we want to catch these folks. New horizons say more than 150 volunteers made the thanksgiving drive possible. Its this kind of generosity that makes the holidays better its much appreciated, believe me. Well, in New Hampshire, dialup is still a year ago, dialup has been the norm and that means that the internet is not fast and based on a report by new so were going to talk to my guest in a minute about that. First lets go to what happened since the report about dialup and that is that there has been increased broadband and high speed in New Hampshire, broadband increased most of the state to 95 and spent 75 million for expansion since 2008 and 7,100 miles of new fiber in 5,000 businesses. Fred whats key to this map, ellen, to me, we can come off the map now, is that the two areas in New Hampshire i remember from years ago that will the lowest speeds was the monadnock region and the North Country. Since that time weve made additional investments to what your first shied was and we have brought the high speed has gone from 3 meg in those areas, to 25 meg in many of the areas. And i go from town to town and show them how much broadband there is, not just residence, but business.
