We made it into the 90s in some locations and it wont be as warm today. A look at the official highs from yesterday. 94 degrees, yeah, yesterday was september 9th and it was 94 degrees in concord and supports mouth and 92 in manchester and rochester. And upper 80s in many other locations. So, how many times have we hit 90 or higher in concord this year . The answer, 25 times. Way, way above normal, normal or average is 10 or 11. Here are the current temperatures out there. Not quite as warm, we will be making it into the 70s to near 80 for today. But that should do it, as clouds and a couple of showers will limit how high those temperatures can go. Its still going to be humid today and tomorrow, but then, look at this, this is like some sort of rollercoaster track here ast dives down into the 40s and 50s. And monday and tuesday. A brief spike on wednesday and right back down again at the end of the week to probably the coolest air mass weve had yet this year for or season anyway at the end of the week. Some nice shots around the region, its beautiful out there, blue sky and some clouds at the moment. And we will see those clouds taking over as a warm front approaches. Right now, so far, a couple of where the clouds are and the better chance for showers and this front moving through parts of pennsylvania and new york, arrived through the day today. Partly sunny skies change to partly cloudy skies. You cant rule out a shower, and most computer models think there will be some of those around and a better chance tomorrow. The other side of the cold front, the upcoming week is drier, sunny or cooler. As the front approaches and you can see its generating plenty of showers and thunderstorms right now. It could bri well. Also, were monitoring the tropics, its been quiet the last few days, but right now, right here, 70 chance of this area of disturbed weather turning into Tropical Storm ian, which be would the next name. 70 chance the next two days for in weekend and if that doesnt happen, a 90 chance in the next five days that that happens. That could be approaching the east coast later on this upcoming week or next weekend. Here is whats happening. Weve got the clouds and again, a few scattered showers or sprinkles around at times today. That keeps the temperatures a little bit lower, but still warm and muggy between 70 and 80 or so. Tomorrow, partly sunny skies, yielding this. The cold front approaching, this line of showers and thunderstorms and downpours rolling through the state from mid morning through early afternoon and then it pulled away and skies clear out. So, take a look here at your high temperatures for today. Because of those clouds were stuck between the mid and upper 70s for most locations and tomorrow, warmer. Chance you could have a passing shower or muchneeded thunderstorm with that rainfall that it could generate and then things clear out. The upcoming week, only wednesday afternoon, the chance of a thunderstorm. Look at that. Nice weather. Its looking pretty good, its septemberlike type stuff. And im joined by Margaret Hagan margaret, this is what were aiming for, a nice red tomato and were getting to the end of the season now, but youll be talking and telling us ways to kind of prolong the season a little bit . Right, you can pick vegetables into october if you take a few precautions. In New Hampshire, the first predicted frost date is september. But weve had a warmer weather pattern the last few years which means weve hard frost sometime in october. And thats the killing frost. Ok. If you provide some protection, you can continue to can those tomatoes for quite a while for the first light frost. For the homemade spaghetti sauce were all famous for. The protection for the light frost in the beginning. What plants need to be protected. Its usually the heat loving and squash. Things like beets and charred who love the cold, and broccoli, you dont have need to do anything about. This is what we have called harvest guard. Its a spunbonded fabric, its light weight and you lostly lay it over your vegetable beds and anchor the edges. Its a little expensive if you cant afford to do that, use whatever youve got at hand. Provide tomatoes, use a sheet or a plastic tarp or piece of plastic to go over it and if you dont want to do that, you can use a garbage can or boxes from the grocery store. Say weve gotten through the light frost and closer to the harden frost. What can i pick . For the first light frost, pick any tomato that has color in it, bring it indoors, in a and pinch off the tiny tomatoes, theyll not have time to develop fully into a tomato you can eat. When you have the hard frost, you clear out everything and the fried green i am ooh i mean, the green tomatoes will make great fried green tomatoes or chipotle and put them in a dry, cool place, not in the sun and make sure theyre not quite touching each other. So if one rots the doesnt. That way you can enjoy your vegetables a little longer. No one covers New Hampshire like we do. Now, wmur news 9 this morning. Good morning, its 7 30. Im amy coveno. A little muggy out there, too, as the muggy air returned this weekend and dropped off in a big way. Temperatures are already starting off the day pretty warm, as you can see here. Near 70 degrees, in some parts of southern New Hampshire, after a real warm day yesterday where we saw portsmouth and concord both hit 90 degrees. Today it wont be quite as warm. We will see a lot more clouds around today. Thats going to limit the high temperatures here and as you can see, the dew points this morning, a little bit higher as well. And theyll hover and mid 60s, going through the day today. Meaning a bit sticky, especially in the areas where you could see a couple of showers that will add to the humidity, of course. And there is that chance of a few showers around during the day today. But certainly, dry part to the day, the majority of the day will actually be dry, but some periods of light rain, sprinkles, drizzle, or a shower or two are certainly likely. Tomorrow, we start the day even more humid, even higher dew points, but then a cold front sweeps through the state in the points, just swoops them away and we see the dew points dropping into the 40s and 50s the next couple of days beyond. This morning, were seeing the clouds lifting northward and taking over southern New Hampshire and thats part of this warm front that will be crossing the state, therefore increasing clouds, the chance of a couple of showers and then tomorrow, as this cold front approaches, it brings showers and thunderstorms around. We really need this rain and it does appear theres a decent chance. 60 to 70 chance youll see one roll through during the mid day of the morning and right back to sunshine and a nice, warm and decreasing humidity type of afternoon tomorrow. And here is what comes in, monday, plenty of sunshine, a Beautiful Day on monday. A light chance of a shower today. 20 or 30 . Tomorrow, its a better chance. A virtually no chance on monday and tuesday, wednesday, weve got a chance again of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs today mid to upper 70s, tomorrow morning warmer.
