A neighbor, returning home from an early workout, got there first. I came round the corner. I could hear somebody screaming i cant breathe, i cant breathe, i cant breathe. Ray the screams were coming from a woman trapped on the second floor. Pauline mackay says a passerby stopped and told the woman to jump. So she jumped and she landed on her back. Shes been transferred to the condition is not lifethreatening and actually doesnt seem to be too serious at this point. Ray the fire chief says crews were on the scene within minutes and found heavy black smoke coming from the building. However, all the tenants were out. Warren haslam is one of them. I went to make a cup of coffee and the next thing i know there was a knock on my door and i started to smell some smoke. Ray haslam says alarms were also going off. After getting dressed and before i did open the door briefly just to see what was going on, and i did see flames in the apartment all the way to the front. Ray the chief says that crews managed to get the fire under control in about 20 minutes. The firefighters also managed to keep the fire from spreading and none of the surrounding homes had to be evacuated. Overall, the chief says that this was a great operation, and that he had feared the worst when the call first came in, thinking that it might be a time when people were sleeping. We didnt have any fatalities grateful for that. Ray the red cross and Catholic Charities are assisting those tenants displaced by the fire, but as one tenant put it, i have money for a motel for a few days but what i do after that . Sean a goffstown teenager accused of setting a fire in february that destroyed a vacant auto parts building pleaded guilty to lesser charges today. 19yearold calvin mitoulas pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges of criminal arson for the fire on february 21 of this year. His plea deal includes suspended jail time and community service. Hell also have to build a Firefighters Memorial in goffstown with members of the fire department. Prosecutors believe this was the right outcome for this case. I think it is an appropriate outcome. I think other people who are older and who are facing similar sentences may in face find themselves in state prison. But this young man is lucky he had e that hes going to be Going Forward with the necessary counseling and other treatment in order to avoid this type of activity in the future, and were going to be keeping a close eye on him so that he knows he has to take the sentence very seriously. A bicyclist has been killed after losing control and colliding with a truck in massachusetts.
