Cars apparently there are sliding off the road, at least one crash reported. So lets go to chief meteorologist mike haddad who joins us now. It could be a problem in other areas tonight as well, right . Mike thats right, tom, its not going to be widespread, but a few areas that get the snow showers and freezing drizzle, thats all it takes, just a little glazing to slick end up area roads. Here it is on doppler radar, you say not much going on, but as weve been talking about, a lot of whats falling is just underneath the radar, its a fine mist of drizzle and in some cases steadier light snow showers around concord, whats showing up on radar is whats falling in southeastern portions of Carroll County. Northern Stratford County. So a coating to a half inch. Notice the winds draining very lightly out of the northeast. Saturate the atmosphere and result in some slick conditions. Notice temperatures are very close to that freezing mark, so if youre going to be out and about statewide, you may be in an area that remains dry, while if youre in concord, points north and east watch out for slick roads on and off through early tomorrow morning. What about the other changes as we go through the weekend, well look at that straight ahead. Jennifer the mother of a rochester teen who died of a fentanyl overdose may also face federal charges. Jazzmyn rood was in Stratford Superior Court for a bail hearing as a judge decided whether or not she should be released. Wmurs Jennifer Crompton is live from our Seacoast Bureau with more. Reporter the Stratford County administrator says that new information weighed heavily in his decision to override the opinion of his own Community Corrections staff that they could safely supervise jazzmyn rood if she were to leave jail and go into transitional housing. To argue that the court should essentially override his override. 41yearold jazzmyn rood has been in jail since october, one of three adults arrested in connection with her daughters death. Authorities say 17yearold eve tarmey died of a fentanyl overdose in the Rochester Motel where she was staying with rood and roods boyfriend. Her Attorney File forward this bail hearing after finding out that approval for roods release under strict supervision had been reversed. On december 16, everyones belief was that should these conditions be in place, Community Corrections would be converting the bail. There was no whition perfect that there was a chance that the county administrator might override that decision. Reporter the Mental Health supervisor who approved roods release testified, as did her boss, who says part of the decision to override was based on increased flight risk because they had been contacted by the United StatesAttorneys Office and it appears that they will be taking over miss roods case. Reporter he told the court the other reason was based on what perceives as a threat to her safety and the publics after he was told by someone he respects in the community. She owes people money and they were going to come up and she didnt have the ability to pay, was going to be hurtful to herself and spill over to the people she might be staying with. Reporter the judges ruling came down after 5 00 tonight that bail will remain set at 10,000 cash and then it will remain up to the discretion of Community Corrections, as to whether or not they will supervise her into transitional housing. The state would not comment further, though, on the matter of those federal charges. Live in portsmouth, Jennifer Crompton, wmur news 9. Its all part of the tradition that makes this political season so special in the granite state. When their National Primaries or regional primaries, the big money in politics shines. Not the individual voter like hampshire. To regain that power would much rather have that power rest with them and with the big money people in politics and with the television advertising, and with the candidates that are picked by the establishment. New hampshire supports that and does a good job of that. Tom tune in tonight on wmur at 7 00 for first in the nation, 100 years of tradition. You can also stream it at wmur. Reporter then it was time to leave with dad, catching up on so much lost time and making plans along the way. In milford, heather hamel, wmur news 9. Mike if youre traveling across parts of New Hampshire tonight, keep on guard, some of the roads could be slick out there. Drizzle, radar not detecting it. Around wakefield, northern parts of Stratford County and around new durham and milton, there a coating to an inch possible. Where you dont see much on radar, you could get a coating to a half inch in some areas and then weve got a little freezing drizzle that could develop in spots as well. First of two systems moving in now through tomorrow morning. Notice this one fairly broken, a couple of showers that will move in tomorrow morning in the form of light snow, a little freezing drizzle or just plain drizzle right at the immediate coastline. In texas and the gulf coast states the next storm is beginning to develop. A lot of downpours and scattered strong thunderstorms are accompanying this storm as it begins, and it will approach here by sunday morning and that means a heavy rain for the second half of the weekend. Right now temperatures are right near freezing, that means any untreated surface will glaze over with any fine light snow or freezing drive. So you want to give yourself out and about tonight. Will not be widespread statewide, but again some areas including in and around concord and canterbury and back into portions of northern stratford and southern Carroll County getting it right now. Temperatures overnight tonight 20s on average in many spots, a few low 30s right along the coast, and then during the day tomorrow, any light mix will give way to just cloudy skies in the afternoon. And a little bit of drizzle. But then later tomorrow night and early sunday, thats when thicker clouds move in and notice the timeline with that spotty light mix on and off, could get an inch of snow in the mountains, maybe a coating to a half inches where, with a little of that freezing drizzle on top of it. Then a little drizzle in the afternoon. Couple of light showers tomorrow night and notice the big changes for sunday, winds will crank up, and that southerly wind will drive in a lot of tropical moisture. We could see one to two inches of rain in about 10 to 12 hours. Notice the winds fairly light tomorrow really crank up on sunday, could see gusts over 40 especially in the higher terrain and along the coastline. Temperatures tomorrow, they run in the mid to upper 30s in many spots, possibly near 40 along the coastline. With that light wintery mix in the morning corks be slick on the roads through at least midday in a few spots, and then it warms well above freezing, speaking of warming up, take a look at sundays temperatures, mid to upper 40s to lower 50s. Before that wintery chill moves back in here, in a big way for next week. By monday, lingering flurries in the mountains, gusty winds making that 34 south even colder, low 20s north. A few flurries or light snow showers tuesday afternoon. The only trick in the forecast beyond then is whether or not we get a dusting of snow or a little more on wednesday before more cold air builds in behind that later in the week. So a lot of changes, watch it on the roads tonight. Tom all right. Bill bowes used to be a household name. Big news for bill, well tell you about that. Mass lowell river hawks. Theyre one of the better teams in the country, its a great opportunity for us. Theyre a tough team, really good defensively, really strong. We have a pretty good rivalry with them, so looking to get a win early in the series against them and hopefully well come out strong. Lowell is always a hard team to play against, they play a fast physical game, theyre good in their own zone, so it will be tough to score, but hopefully we get some. Patriots had had a nice leisurely week beginning to physically for the playoffs. The bye week will give a number of players extra time to heal up a bit including tom brady who is suffering from a high ankle sprain.
