From could be a shower up north later on sunday. But outside of that, dry. Highs tomorrow upper first to low 60s. But then here comes the spring warmth after a cool start to sunday, not as cold as it will around 70, low 70s on average with a blend of sun and clouds for monday and an Early Morning shower will be gone, so a good part of the day dry. Its a people issue. Hes willing to get in there and fight for us. Tom we asked candidates what specifically needs to be done to ensure Social Security and medicare survive for future generations. And here are the answers from the Second District candidates. The Social Security and medicare are the bed rock of taking care of those in need and particularly our seniors. Ive been a make Social Security and medicare long lasting and sustainable. Let me start with Social Security, because its an easy fix. All we need to do is increase the cap on the amount of income that you withhold for Social Security. So that we can do, and we can make it sustainable indefinitely. Its not difficult and its something that congress should do right away. Medicare we need to control our health care costs. A little more challenging, but about opiate medication and pain management, we can do much better, and we need to make fixes to medicare like the one where we were giving had this perverse incentive to physicians to increase access to opiate medication. Thats going to drive up the cost, but it also creates addiction and Substance Abuse disorder that is very expensive to our society. Entitlement reform is vital to us. We know now that Social Security is nothing. Our future generations are going to be counting on, that so it vital for us to do one thing first and foremost and thats to face the funding for Social Security. It should have been done a long time ago. But before we look at modifying anything, we need to make sure that that funning is preserved so that it can help sustain the future of Social Security. In addition to that, were going to have to reform the system to survive on its own. Josh well hear from the candidates in the first Congressional District at 5 30. Josh and theyre chunking pumpkins at the speedway, but a wrong way driver that police say was responsible for a series of highway crashes that left five teenagers dead is now facing Second Degree murder charges. Welcome back. Im josh mcelveen. Jean im jean mackin. The vermont man was also seriously hurt in the crash and so today he was arraigned in a hospital conference room. Newsroom with more. Jennifer thats right, 36yearold steven burgoin was arraigned on multiple charges including Second Degree murder. Janey coosy was a sophomore, she was one of the teenagers killed when police say burgoyne slammed into their car with his truck as police car and caused another crash involving at least seven other vehicles. Court documents show burgoyne has financial and child custody issues, was suffering from ptsd, and went to the hospital three times the morning of the crash, but was never evaluated. The prosecution says those five Second Degree murder charges are appropriate. Was traveling at a rate of speed for that first crash at when he struck the volkswagen jetta. To go five miles in the wrong way, at night, at a high rate of speed, certainly exhibits an extree indifference to the value of human life. Thats why we brought the Second Degree murder charge. Jennifer the defense requestedded a competency hearing that was granted by the judge. Hes being held without bail pebbling the results of that evaluation. Jean a man faces several charges after police say he led them on a chase through the queen city. Police tried to stop him after he ran a red light near union street, but officers say he sped up and at one point began driving the wrong way narrowly missing a pedestrian. Researchers say only 10 of victims report their abuse and only 61 of residents polled say they knew the law requires them to report abuse. Report. And that certainly they dont need to know that its abuse, but even just suspect that something is happening to a child. And i think thats where certainly the partnership with u. N. H. And they really want confidence that something positive was going to happen after they made a report. As we continue to commit comt 2016 coverage, we asked congressional candidates what needs to be done to ensure Social Security and medicare survive for future generations. Here are the answers from the first c. D. I support preserving and protecting both Social Security and medicare within the next 25 years. That should not happen. So not for current recipients on Social Security, but for future generations youve got to change the date by which youre going to receive it, probably something tied to how long youre going to live. Medicare is a little different. What id like to do there is make sure that those who require opportunity to get full access to medicare. Those who have probably better financial situations should probably get a personal of that dollar amount to go purchase their own medicare options. That would create a self sustain ability for the long term for medicare. For Social Security we need to raise the cap. People who are earning over 118,000 do not have to pay Social Security taxes, and more money. Its simply not fair that people in lower incomes have to pay full on theirs and others dont so thats one way. Always talked about being more efficient, going after waste and fraud, thats important as well. But raising the cap for Social Security would go a long way. Then for medicare, what we need to do for medicare is, like i said, negotiate the price of prescription drugs, we need to institute more oversight and thats were not paying attention to the billing. But these programs must be there for older people who rely on them and paid into them and have earned them, and also for the Younger Generation because the Younger Generation will need that insurance that it offers if they have a longterm disability or death in the family, and day need that for retirement also. Josh a lot of voters are energy supply, but do candidates record hold up to their promises, well look at that ahead. Jean samsungs newest phone is banned from all flights in the u. S. Are a few clouds here in the satellite picture from the great lakes back to the midwest, but not much in the way of any rainfall. So it looks dry through at least sunday afternoon. The exception could be northern sections later in the day. For tonight were going to see fair skies, that means sunny skies for your early part of the day tomorrow as the rise right around 7 00. Low to bid 30s downtown manchester, but everyone else will be in the 20s, low 30s right along the immediate coast. Back to full sunshine the entire day on saturday, a few patchy clouds towards evening, temperatures in the upper 50s to around 60 degrees, and statewide tomorrow look at where were headed, near 50 north to 60 south, but look at the jump as we go into sunday. After a cool start, not as cold bouncing back to around 70. Anywhere south of the lakes region, so its looking nice and mild. And you think thats warm, look at monday, low 70s with enough sun on tuesday, we could push upper 70s to around 80 degrees.
