A plane carrying republican Vice President ial nominee mike pence skids off a runway in new york. This was the scene at Laguardia Airport just hours ago. The ntsb is now sending a team to the site to figure out exactly what went wrong. N you see it there, its something called an arrester bed. Its meant to crumble when a jet speeds over it. The concrete broke apart as its supposed to. And that prevented the plane from sliding into a busy highway that runs past the airport there in queens, new york, just yards from that runway. We have an emergency in the airport. Reporter that emergency involving the campaign airplane of republican Vice President ial nominee mike pence. The front wheels of the boeing was a terrifying landing. In rough weather. Abcs ines among the 48 on board. We felt kind of a big bump upon landing then felt the plane skid off the runway. Reporter the powerful storms in new york caused the planes departure from iowa to be severely delayed and the governor tossing a football on the tarmac with his daughter and staffers. No one could imagine the rough flight ahead. Passengers say the aircraft appeared to fishtail after were all a little rattled right now. Everybody is safe. There is no apparent damage to the plane. The governor then came back to talk to us and asked us if everybody was okay and thats when we realized something was wrong because he told us there was mud on his windows in the front. Reporter within a minute emergency crews were en route to the aircraft. Tower, the aircraft is off the runway on the right side of the arrester bed. It looks like its intact. We are on the scene. Presumably part of the reason they havent so far is they want to see what happened and leave things as they are so you can piece together what happened. You see the tire, the back tire, rear tire of the plane in the mud where that one crew member is standing. It was described as a very, very rough landing. The plane, you know, fishtailing at one point. A lot of work ahead there at Laguardia Airport and we should point out that will have an impact for air travel throughout the day there. But thankfully no one was hurt. Yes. No one was hurt because the pence family was on the plane along with a lot of press and Campaign Staff and thankfully no one hurt. The only problem it caused was a small little hiccup in pences schedule. He did miss a fundraiser that was scheduled to take place in manhattan last night and Hillary Clinton offered her saying glad to hear pence and his staff, secret service and the crew are all safe.
