bomb attack in pakistan. at least 24 people were killed, 40 injured early on tuesday evening. this is in the town of charsadda. our correspondent described what happened. >> there was an extremely powerful explosion. police officials say the explosives were planted in a car which was parked near a main intersection of the market. rescue workers found many of the dead on the main road. the surrounding billions have led to early damage of the explosion according to eyewitnesses. the dead and injured were taken to local hospitals and some had to be taken to a nearby town. this is the third attack in the last three days and it continues a string of violence across pakistan. the violence is blamed on at the taliban militants who are under pressure by the pakistan army. the military is conducting an offensive in the taliban stronghold. many of the militants are fleeing the region and that this might contribute to the violence across pakistan. >> iran's foreign minister has said three american citizens now being accused of spying injured iranian territory illegally. he said other acquisitions are being investigated. they were arrested when they crossed into iran from northern iraq. the former president of liberia charles taylor says he was tricked by nigeria into being arrested. he was living in exile there in 2006. the president told them he was free to leave the country and then had him arrested. japan's government has pledged $5 billion in new aid to afghanistan over the next five years days before president obama visits tokyo and japan decided to end its naval the prime minister. a poignant reminder of what is going on in afghanistan. >> north and south korea are locked in a fresh dispute after two of their naval vessels exchange fire in the yellow sea. each side is blaming the other. >> in at the south korean capital, commuters paused to watch news reports of the incident as the government told people to stay calm. the south korean government is accusing the north of launching an attack. a patrol boat had opened fire, this naval officer said. the two navies have clashed and number of times in recent years was sometimes deadly consequences. an exchange of fire left six south koreans dead. a few years earlier, another skirmish has claimed the life of 17 north koreans. this is the latest between north and south korea to take place off the south coast. north korea has objected to the sea border that separates the territorial waters of the country. close to some small islands, a patrol boat from the north crossed the line and it failed to alter its course after warning shots. instead, the north koreans began to open fire. south koreans say they returned fire but they were hit and they retreated across the line. the south korean government instructed the military to maintain vigilance. north korea disputes at the version of defense and is demanding an apology for what they call a grave provocation. they said their patrol boats or on the northern side of the line when they were hit. but navy's continue to patrol their border and in the south south korea has accused the north of provoking such situations in order to osaka after nearly three years on the run. lindsay ann hawker was 22 and had come to japan to teach english. the last time she was seen alive was when cctv cameras filemd, -- filmed her with tatsuya ichihashi. she had agreed to give him an english lesson. her body was discovered in his apartment. in the suspect had escaped. her parents came to japan many times and the case seemed to go nowhere. there is a photograph taken last month at a plastic surgery clinic. he has had operations on his mouth and eyes and he had gone for another on his nose. the doctors only realized he was after he would gone but the picture was circulated widely. it was a member of the public who spotted him in osaka. he has been brought to tokyo by bullet train. he was taken to a police station. for the japanese >> he had modified the car to make the act of murder undetectable. he seems to have thought of himself as a revenging an urban guerrilla. there is immoral to those killed. the anxiety that the sniper his country. he is expected to be the number 1 for the world cup. in a statement, the police say that the victim is the national team goalkeeper robert enke. first indications were that it was a suicide. the american military has been using unmanned aircraft to track pirates. they have disrupted a major shipping lanes and a they are holding close to to let people ransom. the latest weapon in
