40s by this afternoon with our 2-degree guarantee downtown at 43. likely to stay in the upper 30s in baltimore, carroll and howard county but again a chance of flurries possible later today. let's check the roads with kim brown. >> we're looking good this morning on 95 as we look here 95 at 395 you'll see traffic beginning to build really in both directions, northbound and southbound. fortunately no incidents working on 95, same on the southbound lanes of the harrisburg expressway as you approach the top side of the beltway. we still have a disabled vehicle on the inner loop lanes right on the main span of the key bridge. that is causing a slowdown, it current blocks the right lane so again, stay to the left if you have to travel in that area. also a crash in howard county, in west friendship, eastbound route 70 near route 32, that crash is on the median, also causing a bit of a slowdown, rubbernecking delays and the like. as we look at the city cameras, we really don't again. police say the shooting happened because of another bad guy with a gun. it started on the eighth floor of the sheraton city center hotel in downtown. it was around 3:00 sunday morning police say about 20 people were at a birthday party, rented two adjoining rooms. that's when a man carrying a tech 9 semiautomatic opened fire. 19-year-old raymond woodland is charged with shooting marquis johnson, another 19-year-old in the face. that prompted two of the victims' friends to beat the alleged gunman. both were taken to area hospitals. some hotel guests seemed unfazed by the shooting. >> really didn't bother me none. >> i'm sure it's probably the safest place in town now to stay. >> reporter: charges are pending against the alleged shooter and the two friends who aletiondly beat the suspect. meanwhile, the governor is supposed to host a business conference at that same hotel later this morning at 10:00. in the studio, linda so, abc2 news. news time now 6:33. in copenhagenen security is tight as the city gets ready to host the u.n.'s climate change summit. more than 15,000 people are taking part in the summit to create a new climate pact designed to reduce global warming. the president is among the world leaders in attendance, while some say there needs to be more done to reduce carbon emissions. others say reducing global warming could also be a job killer. >> you in most of the points back towards our west. looking far to the west, satellite highlights the clouds and yes, blue highlights the flurries in through western maryland. more behind that. we take our way back to the ohio valley, we're looking at another round of showers trying to push through. our computer model not really picking up on it but i suspect because of the charge in the atmosphere this morning a better chance of some flurries by midday and this afternoon even though we should have warming temperatures. that is not the big story here. it's the next storm that generates tomorrow. midwest, upper midwest and great lakes will get snow. south looking at moderate rain, at 6:00 p.m. tomorrow, just thickening clouds for us. after midnight through wednesday morning we could have sleet and freezing rain to lead us into the morning commute but we should push warmer air and just a chilly rain to set us on in through wednesday. for today downtown baltimore, mostly cloudy, 43 our looking good as well. but we have a crash on the inner loop that is going to be at the bw parkway, that crash is fortunately off to the shoulder. not causing too much impact so far. also, we have a crash in west friendship westbound route 70 at route 32, that crash remains on the median. definitely use caution there. still have a disabled vehicle on the inner loop lanes of the key bridge. that studio, linda so, abc2 news. 6:47. 16-year-old charged as an adult for his role in a string of robberies that went down on friday night. that ended with an off-duty police officer shooting his alleged commission. karim abdul is suspected of being involved in three separate robberies. a police officer was walking near the discount liquors and heard about the robbery in progress, went into the store and saw a suspect pointing a gun at the clerk. the officer shot the suspect, abdul ran, the other suspect is in serious condition now at sinai hospital. montgomery county is allowing a former fire official who was fired after causing a crash to change his status to retired. former assistant fire chief gregory dehaven caused a four-car crash involving a police car on a ramp on i-2706789 he was driving a county vehicle, had a blood alcohol level of nearly twice the legal limit. he was fired. in the county settlement it allowed his personnel record to be changed to say he had retired rather than been fired. fire sweeps through a baltimore county apartment killing and elderly man. it happened early sunday on an apartment complex on nonely drive in parkville. the victim has not yet been identified, neighbors say he was 96 years old. firefighters say the body was found in the kitchen and the apartment was full of smoke. >> it appears to have been a cooking accident. the stove was on and there was utensils around. >> firefighters say the victim lived alone. crews evacuated residents from neighboring apartments. no other units were damaged. soldiers from the maryland army national guard deployed overseas were honored for their sacrifices. >> the freedom salute ceremony in towson recognized 30 members of the national guard. the soldiers were deployed to iraq and afghanistan partnering with coalition forces to conduct combat operations. >> the american soldiers are resilient and hard-working and they should deserve a great deal of support for the effort they put forth in afghanistan. >> the people of the united states need to know that the mission is important and in my personal perspective it needs to continue to help those people. >> each soldier received an encased american flag, commemorative coin and certificate of appreciation from the national guard. monsignor den tinder who retired last month has died. the decision this summer to close towson cathic high school in operation for 87 years angered parents, students and alumni who accused him of acting too quickly. tinder said he worked very hard to keep the school open. that his brother and sister attended the school but growing financial deficits made it impossible. tinder was 67 years old. there's no word on funeral arrangements. and nothing like a christmas parade to brighten up the holidays. what is better than the annual mayor's christmas parade? veterans marched and it helps to kick off christmas shopping in the city. the parade is in its 37th year. into the mayor made another stop at the holiday train garden in highlandtown in southeast baltimore. they flipped the switch yesterday for the new tradition. the firehouse created it from a grant from csx transportation, and the help of volunteers the the city fire chief hopes this train garden will resurrect an old holiday tradition in highlandtown. >> we really want our fire stations to be part of the community, to be open with the community, we want kids to come in and see the fire trucks, meet the firefighters. >> you can visit the highlandtown fire house holiday train garden for absolutely free. governor martin o'malley is vowing to help small businesses in our state. the governor will co-host a job creation summit next week and it will be held on monday, december 7th, that's actually today. and it's 10:00 a.m. at the sheraton hotel in baltimore. keep that in mind. all the information is on the screen. a company in california recalled more than 22,000 pounds of ground beef because they may be contaminated with salmonella. fresno-based beef packers says the beef has been linked to two illnesses. the products were produced september 23rd. because the beef was sent to a distribution center in arizona officials say consumers should definitely check with local retailers to determine whether they may have purchased any of the recalled beef. the company initiated the recall voluntarily. they sherrie johnson is here to tell us about the controversy with the zhu zhu hamster. >> reporter: it's hot this holiday season, this mechanical pet hamster. a consumer group in california says this toy may not be safe for your children. good guide partners with other companies to rate the social, environmental and health impacts of products. they tested the zhu zhu for toxic chemicals and the company found it stood out because of high levels of a chemical called antimony. the federal limit is 06 parts per million, the zhu zhu pet has 90 parts per million in the fur, 103 in the nose. the danger us when kids touch the toy or touch their mouth or put the toy in their mouth. >> as much as they may want it, i got to side on the side of safety and we'll have to pass on it. >> we're not recommending you throw this away but if you're concerned we recommend you either call the company or potentially return the product if you feel it's not safe enough for your kids. >> reporter: the toy the first to report about a restraining order that was filed against ravens linebacker terrell suggs. a woman believed to be his girlfriend filed the order on friday afternoon during a court hearing. right now the temporary order prevents suggs from any contact with the woman in entering her home. police say they have no arrest record for suggs so the woman may have gone straight to the commissioner's office to file the order. ravens fans are now reacting to the news. >> monday night we'll take green bay. that's what he should be focused on. terrell suggs will come out and play and i hope there's no distractions there. >> a hearing is scheduled for friday afternoon the the baltimore ravens said in a statement that they are looking into matters and they will speak with terrell suggs. >> suggs was hurt anyway. he was not playing tonight's. ravens have to win in green bay tonight. they have to get to quarterback rogers and the ravens offense has to get back to pounding the run. the ravens are 6-1 when they run the ball more than 20 times.
