a new study says maybe. a new study looked at more than 12,000 children. half had autism, half didn't. the risk of autism and other development delays was about 50% higher when moms were overweight. >> if obesity is a risk factor for autism. now scientists have to explain why. what is it about obesity that puts children at risk? is it the high sugar in blood, high insulin? >> researchers say there isn't enough information to link the two. spring break can mean an outbreak of head lice. doctors say more kids get the critters this time of year and it's because of trading helmets for biking, baseball and football. and children also tend to get together more often. make sure if you have long hair pull it back. tell your children not to share brushes and head bands. and check the lice often, once a week is usually a pretty good bet. in our consumer alert tonight. do you own a hybrid? would you buy another one. a new report shows that you probably won't. only about 35% of people who own a hybrid would buy another one. the report also shows less people are buying hybrids over all and whether they already own one or not. well the clock is ticking, time is running out for you to file your tax return and if you haven't, there's a few tips you can use. if you can't get an appointment with a tax preparer, file for a six month extension. but that doesn't stop the clock on paying a balance. >> it's an extension to file not an extension to pay. if you owe the government money, you've got to pay them your best estimate of what you think you own by april 17th: there's no way around it. >> april 15th falls on a sunday and monday the 16th is a holiday in dc. maybe you plan to use part of that refund to go on a trip before you check into your next hotel room. we have an idea for you before you blow your vacation out of budget. >> reporter: when you're staying at a hotel there's nothing like the luxurious robe on. nancy mullens can't believe it, she's facing a charge of $200 for supposedly ruining a robe and two towels. it all happened during her daughter's birthday party. >> we had some cake and pizza. >> reporter: but the hotel says that the icing on her daughter's birthday cake left indelible marks on the robe. >> i didn't see anything like this on any of it. >> reporter: whatever caused the stains nancy says she's willing to pay but can't believe the hotel wants $75 each for what she says are plain old $25 robes. >> i'm not real happy. and you know it's highway robbery. >> reporter: the manager tells me the policy is clear you break it you buy it. the hotel even has an inventory lest of what you will be charged in the event of damage. nancy says next time she'll be more careful and will never use hotel robes again. the best thing to do is to leave the robes untouched. unless you're on a romantic get away, then you might want to be careful with the red wine. all right it's a clear night out there and the winds still up but not quite as gusty as earlier. 53 right now. a pretty mild finish to the day after a relatively mild afternoon. winds west at 15. the high today, normal 62. so once again running above average but the big thing to note, zero precipitation so far at the airport at least. so far again we're well behind our typical rain total for this time of year which would be closer to 10, 11-inches of rain so far. we've had very few rain. the winds whipping the state and very dry conditions were the story statewide. mostly sunny skies, and the áf just a wind whipping up a chop out here in the chesapeake. there has been some rain out there tonight but it has general by been down here. from pocono to calvert cliffs, down toward solom on's island. what few showers we've seen on the radar have failed to touch the ground. it's very dry air at the surface so even the rain is evaporating before it every hits. we still have red flag conditions again tomorrow. this is going to be through 8:00. this is statewide in maryland and it's an enhanced fire risk for eastern pennsylvania, southern new jersey and eastern half of virginia. just a dry pattern we've been there. we've enjoyed the sunny weather but we've gotten a little too far on our rain. with the winds up again tomorrow, gusting higher tomorrow we should see gusts up to 35 tomorrow. and it all adds up to a chillier day with those north winds. with the dry conditions and moisture levels way down there. it's another day where wildfires could be an issue. if we see some rain around here it is going to be over the next hour, hour or two hour, after that the chance for rain goes to near zero until wednesday where we could see a hit or miss shower. no real chance for rain until sunday or monday. at this point in time nothing more than a brief shower. high pressure coming out of the west. it's going to be more blue skies. another warmer up as well. tomorrow will be cool and cloudy. generally rain free and still that wildfire risk. then on wednesday, partly to mostly cloudy at times but still rain free. not seeing much in the way of rain until late in the weekend and monday. tomorrow, we'll say 58 degrees is going to be a much cooler wind. tomorrow night down to 38. but unfortunately temperatures don't really change the risk of fire. it's really just a factor of how much moisture, how much rain and how much wind. then unfortunately tomorrow we'll have plenty of wind and probably no rain. same deal on wednesday. but temperatures will run much cooler. they begin to cool off toward the end of the week. again that chance for rain talking sunday night into monday after overnight tonight. so it's, it's touch and go here kelly. just be careful with the outdoor burning. >> all that kind of stuff, all right. thank you. >> all right, coming up you wouldn't want hair in your coffee. you know. but how about a hair with your drink?
