number 6 jersey is on the bench at every game and his number 6 is on the field. it is on every helmet the team wears. eric crumb a junior is one of alex' closest friends and wants alex to know his team is in the battle with him. >> even though he feels alone, everybody in the whole community in virginia in northern virginia and everybody in maryland, baltimore knows of alex and it makes him feel like there's a family other than his immediate family. >> reporter: shawn has 22 goals and 16 assists on the year. but his best assists may be the one off the field. >> shawn. >> we come out and blowout teams or played well against good teams especially when he is there to share it. >> reporter: the coach says alex condition get the number 6 by -- alex didn't get the number 6 by accident. >> my son was national midfielder of the year. 6 before that was jeff who was three times first team all american and alex was given that 6 because we thought that's the kind of kid we have. >> reporter: it's a black tie gala and theidea is. >> look at that. that's last year. >> i think it is. people from the community, doctors and store owners, they train for weeks or months and they compete. you can vote one vote is one dollar and you can vote online. there's my friend debbie. her mother has alzheimer's and she won. >> that's wonderful. look at that. >> yeah. she won one of the trophies. there are two trophies one for the person who raises the -- the team that raises the most pony-- money and the other is the technically best dancer. but it's fun because they are pro dancers mixed with people from our community. >> and i say they look really great. they look amazing. a lot of horde work goes into that -- hard work goes no that. >> they do they worked a hard. i danced a couple years and as judge i could be bribed. people can go online and www.alz.org and then/maryland. >> okay. excellent. >> it raises money for local maryland alzheimer's. >> why is it so important to support the cause in. >> 85,000 people here in just maryland alone it affects and i have very dear friend, my friend debbie and my coach, his mother passed away of alzheimer's and it's a horrible way to, you know, to go. and it's just sad. it's tragic. so, i just, you know, it's really important and awareness and just like everything, you know, great strides are being made in medicine. >> hopefully -- hopefully we can find a way to slow the process and not make it as difficult to live with. i don't know do you know anyone with alzheimer's? >> i do. a couple relatives, yes. so it's very, very difficult. and hopefully we can raise enough money to help folks out. and i tell you, it's a chance to go to the millionry ball a couple years ago. and it -- memory ball a couple years ago and it's so i saw beading and detail. how long does it take to put one together. >> each costume is different. of course, something that is more detailed is going to take longer than something that is a little more simpler. but, they all go through a very rigorous process to get there and so we have the final end result we wish for. >> and let me ask you something i think the story is amazing. how did you get into wardrobe? how did this come about? >> this came about from my mother. my mother sewed and desired to teach me and she taught me and to make little doll clothes and when i was about 6 i said i can't do it anymore i never wanted to sew anything again in my life. so now she loves to harass me. >> i can imagine. and look at you now. >> yeah. exactly. >> beautiful amazing costumes. well, let's go through one by -- one by one. you brought some. let's start with this one moo this is the green frog. it is from our act which is the beginning of the show. it's a high bar act and they are flipping around barrings bars and jumping on trampolines and they are frogs and it was important for the designer and director that our animals are frogs and fish and things look like what we find in nature. so a lot of time is spent to get the precise color of green. and, of course, the shoneyness helps -- shininess helps the reptileian look. >> very nice. very nice. what else do we have here? >> this is our crystal man who is probably the most or nate costume in the show. you can see. he has 401 --4001 mirrors and he is a giant disco ball. and he represents that spark of life. >> okay. >> that came and created life on earth from whatever it may be. >> okay. all right. and this one over here. >> yes. >> that looks fun. >> yeah. >> i would like to shake it. >> shake it. >> these are for our native american dancer. >> do they twist or shake? you have to keep your pets in great shape because just like you, they can have health problems down the line. dr. john fioramonti is here for our pets and vets segment. a lot of people take it for granted. >> sure. we spoil the pets and give them extra attention and feel sorry for them and have a tendy to think to -- tendency to think to spoil them we give them extra food. >> we are passing it to the pets. before we get to the caller, hello,. >> this is over at maryland spca and he's fat cat. you can see all the fat that he hat on the sides. he has a little -- he has on the sides. and you can see the extra fat. so we thought to bring hem in to demonstrate what a fat pet looks like. >> he says i am not fat but fluffy. >> he doesn't feel fat. >> all right. >> the phone call donna from millers you have a question for the doctor? >> yes. >> go ahead. >> i avenue got -- i've got three female cats, the is it- year-old is in top -- 12 -year-old is in top physical shape the two 9-year-olds are -- they have that belly pouch. i guess i picked a good day to call about this. >> perfect. >> so there seems to be nothing in there except fur hanging. >> fluffy. >> a lot of time it's extra fat. skin has been stretched and pulled because of extra fat. and usually what you will want to do is try to get them to lose weight. it's difficult to get a household that has more than one cat to get one of the cats or two of the cats to lose weight. but you want to try to decrease the a food that's out for all of the cats so there's two nine- year-old will lose a 9 or 2 and if they do, usually that helps get the tummy to tighten up. >> relative to our pets losing weight, dogs and cats as well, the first thing we will say is what? cut diet. >> yes. you want to figure out how much you are feeding your pet and feed one-third less. if you feed them a third less, that helps get weight loss. if that doesn't help, then you can move to some other different prescription foods and we have some of the different prescription foods i think we will able to show on camera for a minute. there's re-- reducing diets that we have that are especially design to get some of the pets to lose weight. and iams makes a nice one and hills makes a nice restricted diet. we have those available. and here's some of them right here. we have doggy treats that anybody that is interested can also give your pets diet treats. and that will help. >> is there a different practice dogs versus cats?
