in the streets as the miners trapped underground for 69 days were brought to the surface one by one at san jose mine. they blew their horns and sang songs and cheered as they watched the event unfold life on plasma scenes. families of the men were at the site to greet their husbands, brothers and fathers as they emerged. >> we are going to work all around the clock for 38 hours in the rescue process. >> reporter: rescuers finished reinforcing the mine early monday as each is hauled up a. camera will be focused on his face so they can watch for and being attacks. they were wear oxygen masks and have two-way voice communication. rescue of each man will take about one hour, 25 minutes for the capsule to desend. time to load the mine and 15 minutes to bring him to the surface. they have been told to keep their eyes closed and were given dark glasses to avoid damaging their eyesight after being in a dymally lit tunnel for so long. they will spend two days at nearby hospital for observation. the miners are not coming out of mine empty-handed. they will carry leters from loved ones, religious statues and rocks from the mine. the mine of the experience taught the world sometimes miracles do happen. and in a night filled with historic moments, one that will be remembered was the rescue of the one bow liveian miner. chilean cheered and waved fashion and showed the anthem in a show of unity. no just incredible. we will bring you all reunions throughout good morning, maryland. they brought up the 5th miner an hour ago and they told all the tv people to turn off the lights for fear that it could damage his eyes. they had a helicopter hovering overhead with infrared rescue. and it's unbelievable. one story after another. we will bring it to you. and if you want to go online, abc2news.com and we will continue to follow the great, great rescue the world is watching this morning. now, it's 5:01. i think you still better avoid the mac this morning. a school bus fire shut the tube down yesterday. no one was hurt except feelings of other drivers in this big backup. so what can we expect this morning on the commute? let's go live to linda so who is there on the spot. good morning, linda. >> reporter: they have just reopened the two lanes shut down overnight for emergency repairs. traffic is flowing freely. two center lanes that are heading northbound through the tunnel that were shut down overnight because of the fire, they worked all night to fix the lights that were burned out and make sure the lanes are okay for drivers to pass through and this morning, things are looking good. it doesn't look like they will be caught up in any mess this morning. this burned out school bus is what is to blame. bus caught on fire about a half mile inside the fort mchenry tunnel during tuesday's evening rush causing a major backup on i-95 north. at one point, the smoke was so intense it was pouring out of the tunnel, the driver of the school bus an aid walked out complaining of smoke inhalation but lug luckily no one else was injured. and the backup caused major headaches for those trying to get hole. >> i work in columbia. so i have to use 95. i get on fort mchenry and i have to use 95. no other alternative. >> reporter: engineers worked overnight to fix the lights that were burned out to make shower that the lanes were safe for drivers to drive on this morning. they just reopened the two lanes that were shut down heading northbound through the tunnel. all four lanes are open this morning and looks like the morning commute will run smoothly. live at the fort mchenry toll plaza. linda so. >> she will be live all morning. kim brown will work the maps like nobody else. baltimore city police plan a major anonesment regarding new funding to help find illegal guns. this comes after a violent weekend that we went through and we saw seven people murdered. in one case, a 78-year-old man was found stabbed to death inside his home. police are stepping up patrols in several areas. here's -- it's 5:04. will there be a site schools teacher vote on the new contract? and temperatures cooling down. this is the transition as we build in a brand new air mass and get rid of the head we had yesterday and show you yesterday's high temperature reached 91-- 81. we did surge into warm air n low 70s to the north. we got the last full day of nice conditions. it was 87 towards richmond, virginia. we belong in the 60s. normally a high of 68 degrees with the record spread from freezing in 2006, 1954 heat wave showing up again 89 on this date that year. 7:14 sun up and we will check out the satellite and radar composit and you can see the clear skies building in with clouds and showers erupting to the south. and this is part of the developing storm system. you can see the circulation on down towards the south and in fact, that area of low pressure slowly works its way off towards the east. now a frontal brownedry separating the building air mass and cold air wrapping around the low itself. as we get this developing storm here, across the southeast, this will actually tap into a lot of the cold air and the cold air in the upper levels of the atmosphere sit and spin and generate a new storm as it ride off towards new england. what that means for us, it's going to get cooler and it's going to get wet. let's check out forecast model which indicates the clouds trying to come back in overnight. and by daybreak, you will notice the rain beginning to approach some indications it could be here by daybreak tomorrow. if not, it is around lunchtime and plan for a wet afternoon. developing area of low pressure reorganization off the -- reorganizes off the code coast. then watch that low pressure. you can see the circulation off the coast. and if you are watching on the wide screen you can can see the low pressure that's a major wind generator and we will keep the strong winds around. we get leftover showers on friday. and it will be a much different type of setup and will feel much more like mid-autumn. 67 today. near normal with mo mostly
