The weather may be echoing the feelings of some bengals fans after another playoff meltdown. In many ways, last nights loss to the steelers may have been the worst of all. Wlwt news 5s george vogel has the details. George ive been doing this a night between the bengals and the steelers. It was the bengals doing all the melting down. They had a sure victory, turned it into defeat, and they turned it into defeat with a couple of costly, late, unsportsmanlike penalties. You can never let that happen. Pittsburgh gets out of there were hard hits and rough play throughout the game. Gio bernard had to leave with a concussion. Shoulder injury late in the game. But after trailing 150, the bengals come all the way back under two minutes to go, a. J. Mccarron to a. J. Green. Touchdown. The bengals take a 1615 lead. Then right after that, it is an interception by Vontaze Burfict. This should pretty much seal the game. The bengals have the ball, not much time remaining. But the worst thing that can happen, happened. Jeremy hill fumbles the football big ben comes back in. And big ben gets a lot of help from the bengals. Like this penalty on Vontaze Burfict. That gets the steelers in field goal range. Before they can run another play, adam jones gets another 15yard penalty for this. Chip shot to take the lead with seconds remaining. Chris bosswell nails it. That will do it. The bengals somehow let it get away, 1816. They fall to pittsburgh. George that makes five straight years the bengals have been one and done in the playoffs. Theyre 07 under marvin lewis and havent won a playoff game the curse continues and so does the longest playoff victory drought in the nfl. Should have won, but listen, they only have one thing to blame. From the newsroom, im George Jonathan thanks, george. With the loss, the steelers are headed to denver, where theyll take the broncos on next sunday. Well have more on the nfl playoffs coming up in morning sports. Weve been invested in this Football Team our whole life, you know. Jonathan yeah, i do. The playoff loss hitting bengals thousands hit the streets to watch the bengals go head to head with the steelers. Despite many upset fans after the game, they dispersed rather quickly and no incidents have been reported. Cincinnatis mayor was on the sidelines to cheer on the bengals. It wasnt enough for the team to get the victory. Now he has to make good on a bet with pittsburghs mayor. Mayor cranley has to send over gold star chili, coneys, graeters ice cream sundaes and food from the montgomery inn. If the steelers had lost, it would have been primanti pierogies. The two mayors told us last night before the game had been decided that win or lose, the food would be donated to homeless shelters in both cities. Theres a chance for you to become a billionaire. No ticket matched all six numbers following saturday nights drawing. It was already a record of nearly 950 million. According to the lottery officials, sales on friday alone were 227 million. Yesterday, about 400 million. Its boosted the expected jackpot to a whopping 1. 3 billion. You take the lump sum, you come out with about 7, 8 hundred million. Youll pay two and a half to taxes. Looking about 550 million after taxes if you won that alone and took the lump sum payment. The winning numbers from last nights drawing, 32, 16, 19, 57, 34. The powerball was 13. No one won. Officials are warning that frostbite can occur to exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. Lake effect snow showers will add a couple more inches to the ground and winds will be around 10 miles per hour. They got the 9yearold out but couldnt find the 12yearold. The guys did a great job of they were determined they would find the kid, and they did. The 12yearold didnt have a pulse when he was finally found, but he was brought back. The two boys are recovering at the hospital. Thanks to the brock ton fire department, two brave samaritans were also taken to the hospital and the quick thinking of their friends. Wow. Lets talk local weather. Jonathan hopefully, we wont have weather that creates any pond that is semi attractive to anyone trying to venture out here. Jennifer well be getting cold. That wont be a concern this were looking at Single Digits temperatures this morning. Well stay below freezing for afternoon highs and through a stretch of a couple of days. Dropping back, the cold front came through about 5 00 downtown. Weve fallen off to the 30s since then. The heavy burst on the back door at this point. Trying to push our way, heavy snow bands this morning lead to minor accumulations and a brief window this morning of a couple of hours when travel may be a little bit tricky. I think central parts of indiana have been watching their report. They probably took the brunt of this with theyve had two inches of snow, four in the grass and i70 was covered at times this morning. I dont think were going to see anything quite that intense. But we will see brief spots, especially our northwest counties, where we get to the heavier bands. Wlwt radar showing the low pressure is lifting up towards the great lakes. Its wrapping on the back side of the cold air. We see the band of snow. It will be heaviest and more counties, lighter for southeast counties. Making it downtown, moving into western parts of Hamilton County and downtown for central Hamilton County, moving across Northern Kentucky as well. Were starting to get heavier bursts at the leading edge into the metro locations. Theyve been ongoing for batesville to connersville. Been watching the weather bug camera. Havent seen anything sfashl yet substantial yet, but a covering to an inch a potential. Once it starts snowing, the heavy bursts, probably two hours worth of snow expected. Heres futurecast at 7 00 a. M. As the line continues to progress eastward. We still have heavy bands into downtown through 8 00, 8 30. Well continue with the snow downtown. Then it starts to come to an end beyond 8 30 to 9 00 this morning. We should see improvement by the late morning. Once the snow stops, wet roadways not much of a problem. Doing a nice job of showingtige tige higher totals. Downtown, a covering to a half inch. All of this lining up as the low pressure lifts out quickly. By 10 00, 11 00, well have seen all of our snowfall in terms of accumulating snowfall. The Winter Weather advisory for the counties in purple include our central and Northern Counties for the region. The exclusion, our southeast counties. Not in the advisory, but a covering still possible with snow bands over the coming hours. 34 degrees as we drop to near the freezing mark. A west wind at 20. Wind gust at 33. Were expecting the winds to be gusting this morning around 35 through the morning. Heres the connersville weather camera. Not seeing a lot on the roadways. Not pointing in the right direction to give us too much information. Been watching for a drop in visibility or maybe snow on the road. Havent seen too much in fayette county, though were expecting the northwest counties to get the higher snow totals. Northeast, closer to the surface stronger winds as it lifts out during the late morning. Wind advisory from 7 00 a. M. To 1 00 p. M. Could see wind damage reports out of those counties with wind gusts at 40 to 50 miles an hour a potential. So the winds will be a factor today as well, especially this morning as this low pressure strengthens and lifts out. Satellite and radar showing the back edge of the snow showers come through this morning pop once the morning snow bands come through, flurries into the midday. The rest of the day will be the winds, the falling temperatures, wind chills this evening in the Single Digits. Tomorrow morning, wind chill near zero. Well stay with the wind chills in the teens through the day monday. A quiet monday expected, but another cold front taking shape. You can see the snow developing, should bring snow back in for monday night tuesday morning. Could be a tricky start tuesday with minor accumulations. Temperatures falling today. Morning snow chances coming to an end into our midday. Tonight, we drop off to 13 for the low. Tomorrow, upper 20s for the official high. With that front coming in. Well keep it cold and quiet the second half of our work week. Rain showers returning next saturday. Jonathan. Jonathan thank you, jennifer.
