Dan it is a time of grief here in milford. A parent s Worst Nightmare come to life. It was along here on state route 126 , investigators say Lauren Wilfong lost her life at just 16yearsold. Ohio state Highway Patrol says the Milford High School junior crashed just after 6 00 last night. They tell us wilfong was driving home from work at indian hill winter club, when she lost control, overcorrected and smashed into an oncoming suv. Highway patrol tells us the suv slammed into the right front side of wilfong s car. We re told wilfong wasn t wearing a seatbelt and was killed in the crash. The driver of the suv wasn t hurt. Now, a community, including her peers at Milford High School are in a state of shock and mourning. Josh kauffman she was a very wellliked student, very optimistic, always had a smile and you know, it s challenging any time, but especially when you have a young lady with a such a promising future that was just always so optimistic and happy in her presence and demeanor. Dan investigators say speed, weather, drugs and alcohol are all not believed to be factors here. They re now turning to cell phone records to rule out distracted driving. It s a somewhat unusual charge a traffic crash, but we learned today that the prosecutor feels it fits. Huffman was in court this morning, charged with two counts of murder. He was in a wheel chair and wearing an arm brace, still recovering from injuries he sustained in the crash. Around 10 00 on new years eve, huffman an suv on kentucky 17 at pelly the couple in that car, david and ella mcnay were killed. Investigators say huffman had a blood alcohol level more than twice the legal limit, and it s the high level of intoxication that contributed to murder charges in this case. Rob sanders under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life you place another person at risk of death or serious physical injury and cause the death of another person. That can also get you to the same murder charge as intentionally killing someone. Andrew investigators found oxycodone bottles in his possession, and talked to at tried to stop him from driving because he was too intoxicated.
