But coming up next, cold temperatures have made it extra hard on our backyard gardens, coming up next, were going to how im in gandys garden, here we are in the middle of winter with, we finally have seen some winter weather, we had to protect the garden from the cold air that was coming in for this first week of january. And we did get down to 27 degrees, so it was good that we installed our protection. Now, our protection consisted of row covers and we also had some plastic that we put over some of the smaller things, so its important now not to keep it on all the time. The temperature is well above freezing, so now, its time to take some of this off. Lets take a look and see how some of our plants did. Well start over here. This is where we have the garlic all i did was staple this to the sides, weve had a little bit of rain here and thats another reason why i wanted to uncover it. And they look like they faired pretty well. We got down to 27 degrees. Which for some plants, would cause some real robs, but i think these problems, but i think these are going to be fine. Well make sure that theyre watered and well keep that in place in case we have to deploy our defenses once again. Over here, in this container, we had our celery. And im not sure how cold toll rent it is. It looks like it did suffer a little bit of damage here on the tops, right next to the plastic, but down below, everything seeps to be in pretty good shape, remarkably so for something that went through some pretty cold weather. And take a look. At our radishes and our carrots. These row covers are made different. This is a felt. And it helps to keep the temperature the inside a good 57 degrees warmer than the outside temp. So given that we didnt we went down to 27 degrees, these should have stayed at or above freezing. I s was more concerned about the radishes, and it looks like they might have suffered a little bit, but theres theyre still in decent shape, it looks like. I had to harvest some of them. And but some of them werent quite ready. So i decided, well, ill protect them from the cold the best i can and see if we could do that. And i went ahead and protected the carrots as well. The carrot, though, are fine rs they can take colder temperatures than what we had. Another place that i wanted to because this is where we had our mustard greens and some of our more delicate plants and we put one on here. Now, the broccoli, i was never that concerned about. But we went ahead and protected the broccoli. Because we were afraid that the temperature might get down low enough to cause it some problems. And it does look like there might have been a little bit of damage on the broccoli, but not much. These are the mustard greens here. And they look like they did pretty well. They endured the cold. The kale, thats a hardy plant, they can take temperatures down in the low teens before it starts to show much damage. Were in pretty good shachlt im not sure about this plant. Its not as cold toll rent as some of these other plants, but if youre going to have a winter rden and you can do that here in South Carolina, you have to be a i believe to protect it from the cold weather you have to be able to protect it from the cold weather. We are in january, in a couple of months, well be planting our spring garden. But in the winter time, you can with some of the largest jackpot in powerball history has increased to 800 Million Dollars. It keeps growing. If one person wins the 800 Million Dollars jackpot, they the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 293 million.
