Delegates that can solidify or change the equation in terps of who gets the nomination. For many republican, one question weighs heavily than any other can anyone stop donald trump . So far he won in the northeast and the south and out west. In texas, ted cruz stands a best chance for a win. But even the republican candidate john kasich isnt optimistic. I think trump will win reporter 595 delegates are up for republicans of the 1037 needed. 865 are in contention for democrats who need 2383. I will work as hard as i can every single day. In todays democratic races Hillary Clinton is favored in nearly every state. For political analysts mow allicy said berny sanders hit a demographic wall. He is not doing well with latino voters and africanamerican voters. Reporter so here is a couple things we will be watching. No. 1, what does the race look like at this time tomorrow . All the candidates said they do plan to stay in, regardless of todays result, but once the numbers roll in, you never know. They could change their minds. Holly for the first time voters will be required to show some form of photograph id at the polls and this can be a problem for people who dont have a drivers license or id, but buncombe county says there is a way people can still vote. They can sign what is call add reasonable impediment declaration. Voters will be asked to sign a declaration that basically states for there is a list of reasons, for whatever reason i have not been a able to obtain a photograph id and they will sign the declaration and the workers will provide them with a ballot. That means you will now pay more for more services out there. Holly Lauren Brigman joins us, how much is this new tax lauren about 85 million, holly. Some legislators say the revenue will go towards education and economic recovery projects in some areas of our state. Now, the new sales tax on labor costs will impact North Carolina in a variety of ways. From painting and plumbing, to watch repairs and car repairs. Police say wheeler was drunk and crossed the center line on in the new leicester highway, hitting the vehicle driven by stacy garrett. The crash left both women with brain injuries. News 13 has confirmed a deputy at the Jackson County Sheriffs Office has been fired for giving a driver the middle finger. It happened thursday morning on i40 when van anthony and scott light crossed paths. And when on camera, he gave him the middle finger. Jay firefighters are working to determine what caused a fire that destroyed a mobile home. It happened off sharon road friday night. The fire chief says no one lives in the home but it still had power hooked up. He believes it is a complete loss. Holly state Health Officials are extended the advisory about mercury in a Jackson County lake. They previously weared of high mercury levels in large mouth bass in North Carolina waters. Now they are altering the alert about the mercury in the wild life in glennville. They warn pregnant women and small children under 15 not to consume the fish in the lake. The mercury is not too healthy. Seeing that, i wouldnt eat the fish out of here. But id come out and catch them for fun. Holly Health Officials say there is no known risk from the high mercury levels in fish that affect swimming, boating, or handling the fish. Jay in this mornings news lookout for four suspects accused of stealing dozens of firearms. Holly it happened happened at a gun store in the atlanta area. The suspects used a car to break open a door at the store. Officials say it took about three minutes for them to swipe 30 guns before leaving the scene. Police want the guns off the streets. We dont know what who is going to purchase the guns or what hands are going to get into it, and we definitely want to get them back. Jay the gun shop is offering a 2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the four suspects. Holly take a look at the video out of california. A semi crashes into a home, it spilled diesel into the scene. No word on what caused the crash. Jay a small passenger bus in San Francisco and four fuel pumps were destroyed in a fire. Officials say the bus driver pulled into the station after his engine started overheating the potential for explosions forced fire crews to get to a safe position and deuce the bus with water. Seeing some clearing in our northern and western zones but still here in asheville partly cloudy. We do have a chance as i mentioned before the break of severe storms. So, it gets worse from easttowest. Thunderstorm chance in the areas in the light green, the darker green, a marginal red, which mean as few thunderstorms may turn severe and a greater chance which is just the far western zones in parts of northeast georgia. So, severe storms as in large hail, gusty wind and downpours. So, temperatures this morning, lets talk about this first. Its a little cooler than what we got down to yesterday. 36 degrees so far at the ashville airport. But, its not that cold every where. In fact, its 10 degrees warmer in greenville. 44 in greenwood. And into the foothills, but 30s to 20s across our northern zones. So 29 in newland, to 36 in asheville, and right now, right at freezing in franklin at 32. There is a wind after videry that will begin at 7 00 this evening through noon tomorrow, gustings up to 50 Miles Per Hour. Now, its not for everyone here in our region, but just yancey, Mitchell County and afraid, especially in the higher elevations. The reason we are having this chance for severe storms and also the gusty wind in those advisory areas is because we are seeing a stronger cold front move through the region. So, the timeline here is have mostly a dry day, with the exception of a few areas. So 8 a. M. , you dont need the umbrella just yet. We will see the clouds though. And then after lunchtime we will start to see a few showers develop, not until dinner. Thats 6 00. Watch as we see these heavier rain bands move through the region. We start to see the yellow and orange heavy downpours. Then we start to see the blue. So a wintry mix just in the northern zones early tomorrow morning. So, not expecting anything down here in the valley locations in asheville. Just that lingering moisture in the higher elevations. 6 p. M. Today, still not seeing much in the way of accumulation until we move forward into tomorrow morning. We will start to see anywhere from about a quarter inch to a half inch here in the French Broad River valley. Our western zones in some areas further south could be closer to that three quarters of an inch maybe an inch if we get the thunderstorms. You know how that works. Ox creek road is closed near elk mountain scenic parkway for some repairs. Crews plan to wrap up the project by thursday evening. So, keep that in mind. Holly Lauren Brigman joins us to tell us what this means for us. Lauren this new law was passed in the last general session and it will be part of the states new budget. Republican legislators say it will reduce the reliance on income tax and aid the move towards consumption taxes. So, you will now pay more for services such as hiring someone home, even shoes and watches. Combined state and local taxes amount to 7 on transactions but the rate will vary by county. For example, you are looking at paying up to 15 more for a car repair that includes 200 in labor fees. Opponents of the new tax say this will be more difficult on lower income households to pay taxes on things you buy and not on your income. Jay news 13 13 obtained the 911 tape involving the shooting death of Robin Richardson charard in first degree Madison Square garden of tim fry. She made a 911 call from arden. She told detectives she shot fry because he had assaulted her. Thats also what she said to the emergency dispatcher. Okay. Yes. Have you been assaulted . Im sorry . Have you been assaulted . Yes. Okay. And where did you shoot him on his body . Multiple times, in the gut, i dont know if hes dead or alive. Jay richardsons voice stays calm throughout the 911 call. Once deputies arrive she can be heard saying i shot him. She remains in the buncombe county jail under no bond. Holly a hendersonville family is asking investigators to reopen the case ruled a suicide last summer. Reeds was found hanging in a hotel in new jersey, the week before she went missing from the Rainbow Hotel and her family says her disappearance was report was just wrong, and another person found more discrepancies. Holly a Mitchell County man is sentenced to prison after being found guilty of statutory rape. Jeffrey dye will spend 0 yores behind bars for sexually abusing a 14 yearold girl when he was he is registered as a sex offender after he is released from prison. Jay deputies arrested a man from marion for first degree sex offense of a child, 48 yearold martin gad di said she found vapes of gad di having sexual contact with with an 11 yearold girl that allegedly happened in january of 2009. Jay Mcdowell County deputies are searching for a missing woman and man her family believes a part in her disappearance. Melanie burlson was reported missing friday. The 36 yearold mother of two was last seen at a party with waveletter mitchell who has a long criminal history in the area. Meet charlie fox trot and bailey lola sniffer doodle. They are four months old and deputies in training. Holly the names were chosen by students in a contest. Fourth grader lillian stone said she was shocked deputies picked her name, sniffer doodle. I thought, well, at least i can enter, right . So we just came in here and mind blown. I win and i walk up there, my hands are shaking and everything in my mind is flashing. The last three hours we have clouds have come and gown in the region, but overall partly cloudy skies to start the day. Clouds on tin crease and also the chance for rain and thunderstorms. Severe threat gets worse from easttowest. Chance for thunderstorms in the green, a few of these storms could turn severe, and a greater risk for severe storms in the slight category, which does encompass some western zones and down into northeast georgia. The possibility of hail, gusty wind and also the heavy downpours. We have to use caution. That will not be until the second half of the day. And then overnight, temperatures will drop back down, some lingering precipitation in the northern mountains could see a light dusting of that snow. Nothing really expected back here down into the valley locations. So not much in the way of rain through dinnertime tonight. More widespread overnight, anywhere from about a quarter inch to a half inch of rain, across much of the region. Isolated zones will see more than that. Holly this mororng, we have been talking about whats coming to dollywood this year. Jay wess ramey is back with us. Wess, the theme is basically about festival of nations, at the theme park. What are you getting ready for . When we open our season, we start with the festival of nations. We have five different festivals throughout the year and we like to remind people every season at dollywood is a completely different experience. People love our festival of nations. We will have nearly about 2530 countries represented either through entertainment, food, craft, throughout the park. So, a lot of fun, a lot of educational experiences and a lotf schools on spring break this time of year. So, its really fun to bring the kids up and let them learn and experience some of the other cultures while they are in the park. Holly and getting 25 countries and performers to dollywood is no simple task. No, its not. There is a lot that goes on. We have a group that goes out africa, which is our headline act. They will gout and check out what is available and we will work to bring the people in. We have mother africa, they were there two years ago and they were a favorite act. Loss upon chose go chose is from argentina. They are hilarious and very talented. We have a group from the United Kingdom coming called the United Kingdom euc laically orchestra, they play well known popular songs on the euc laically, so a lot of excitement. Jay talk the logistic its of getting the people and the troupes here. They come in before the festival begins and we house them and take care of them. We transport them back and forth. But, a lot of fun, a lot of different cultures that we get to experience as employees, too, because we do a lot of things. We then take them to t. V. Stations and things like that. Its funner us to get to talk to them and learn more about their culture. So, they are really interactive with guests when they come the park after shows. They willtand and talk and from us at the same time. Holly i know a lot of people love the shows and the food. I like the rides. Im all about the roller coaster. Im super excited. It is lightning rod, the worlds first launching wood coaster. What im excited is its the worlds fastest wooden coaster. So all around the world, come to dollywood. You will be going fast. Jay thats going up and down . It launches you, by the time you get to the top of the lift hill you will be going 45 Miles Per Hour. When you come down the other side it races up to 73 Miles Per Hour. But it has a different track system which, although its a wood coaster, it will be smooth like a steel coaster, kind of like wild eagle. So we are excited and what it will mean for the park. Holly it has 90degree turns on it. This thing is wild. It is. We have said before a lot of nascar tracks are banked at 30 degrees, and imagine 90 degrees. You are literally on your side in the turns.
