The National Weather service now saying its expected to make landfall here in florida either later tonight or in the overnight hours as a hurricane. Now, dangerous storm surge is expected and overnight weve already seen some flash flooding and over the last 24 hours north of tampa. Effect for where we are at in franklin county. Mandatory evacuations are also in effect. Storm surge expected up to seven feet in some places and hermine is expected to bring up to 5 to 10 inches of rain in some areas even 20 inches in isolated spots. If hermine were to make landfall as a hurricane here in florida, it will be the first hurricane to hit the state in nearly 11 years. Savannah . All right. Gabe gutierrez, thank you. Al is here and hes going to talk about this storm now pos what millions of people up and down the coast. Thats it exactly. Its been 11 years since a hurricane has hit florida. This could strengthen as gabe mentioned to a category 1. Latest on hermine, 270 miles South Southwest of florida. Looking at the path right now, we expect landfall sometime late and then continues inland until Early Saturday Morning and comes out around the carolina coast but look at this cone of uncertainty that widens out. Washington, d. C. , philadelphia, new york, parts of connecticut, providence, all of the way up to boston all have to worry about this system. Now, for the first time in four years, weve got a hurricane warning in effect along the gulf coast from panama city down to spring hill. We warnings as well and we also have to worry about the risk of storm surge. Thats when all these waves, this wave energy piles that water up against it and we get flooding moving its way inland. Right now weve got storm surges that will peak 1 to 3 feet around tampa. 4 to 7 feet as you get to big bend on top of high tides. We also have to worry about the possibility of tornadoes from savannah down to tampa. Still we have to watch it. The other big problem is going to be the rainfall. Anywhere from 10 to 20 inches of rain especially in northern florida but as you get up into the carolinas and georgia, could be upwards of 7 to 8 inches of rain and coming up in the next half hour, rip currents are going to be a very big problem stretching from florida all of the way into nantucket by the time the Labor Day Weekend is over. We talk about plans for the Labor Day Weekend. Nothing compared to what could happen alo absolutely. Lets turn to politics now and headlines there. The long awaited speech on immigration that donald trump delivered to a roaring crowd in phoenix wednesday even after conflicting reports emerged from that surprise visit earlier in the day with the mexican president. Thanks. I want to start with this meeting with mexicos president. Afterward, there were conflicting reports of whether or not they talked about who in fact would pay for this wall on the border. Mr. Trump said it didnt come up. The president of mexico said, yes, it came up early in the meeting and he told mr. Trump that mexico wouldnt pay. Both cant be right. Which one is tryingo in your opinion . Well, i think this is kind of a diplomatic amateur hour by donald trump. What are the odds, matt, that he has been telling the American Public for months now were building a wall and mexico is going to pay for it, but then that did not come up in the meeting . I find that kind of ridiculous. Even if it didnt come up, he choked and forgot to say that to the president of mexico after for the last many months . So i find his statement that he didnt bring up even if its true, it shows that he sort of folded under pressure and didnt have the backbone to say to the mexican president what hes been saying over and over. Donald trump stood there with the mexican president. He was toned down. No outrageous rhetoric. He seemed to be on his best even his best behavior. Is that one of the difficult things for you running against a donald trump that you never know exactly which donald trump youre going to get . You know, i think the important thing about leadership is you have to be consistent. You cant say Different Things to different audiences. And so, you know, he came back across the border and its about mexico is going to build a wall. Mexico is going to pay for it. He was divisive. He says america is going to be deportation nation. Of mexico in the eye, he cant bring himself to say it. That tells me something about his backbone and his resolve and so its an interesting yesterday was an interested display of, i think, kind of a diplomatic lack of resolve and then this language of division deportation that shows that donald trump is not changing anything. Back to optics for a second. If you look at the side by side of this week, donald trump went to mexico. He sat down. He a foreign leader. Hillary clinton spent most of this week scooping up money in the hamptons for fundraisers. Doesnt trump come out on top on that . I dont think so. Do the contrast in 24 hours yesterday. Donald trump choked on the fundamental promise that hes making in this campaign when he had the opportunity to talk to the foreign leader about it by his words he didnt bring it up. By the leaders words. It did come up. For your wall. So that just shows that i think kind of not ready for prime time but then back over on this side of the border, he just doubles down on this divisive deportation nation strategy. Lets talk about the state of the race. Most National Polls were seeing battleground polls show a tightening race. Thats the trend. And if you look into some of those polls, what you see really its a matter of Hillary Clintons favorability actually going down. The question is if trump is as weak a candidate as you portray, why isnt she putting it away . I encouraged secretary clinton to run in april of 2014. I gave a speech in South Carolina and i said i hope that she runs, and we talked about it. I said make no mistake, this is going to be incredibly difficult. I think it will be hard. You cannot assume anything. Youre trying to do something before. I always assumed this race would be hard. We feel good about our position in a number of true battleground states. We dont feel any sense of complacency. Were organizing and making our case to voters every day because we felt from the beginning this would be very, very difficult. Heres where the important thing is that we do know that these plaques can start to surface years, even a decade before symptoms start so imagine if you could take a population of people who are at risk, either by screening or genetic risk and give them this drug that early and prevent the plaque from ever developing, could that translate into a truly meaningful treatment for alzheimers . Seven years to just six months old. Her husband, rusty, was working at the time. He returned to a scene of shear terror. Cops were crying. There was a lot of emotion there. They were guys that had gone recover the bodies. Kprc was the first on the scene. They brought andrea out and her clothes were still wet and her hair was still wet from the bathtub. They brought her out. She looked like a zombie. There was a sort of wildness in her eyes. Even with a long and documented history of Mental Illness including suicide attempts, she was charged and convicted of capital murder but the and in a subsequent trial she was found not guilty by reason of insanity. She testified she believed her childrens deaths would save their souls. Andrea yates was committed to a texas Mental Hospital where she remains today. Now, 52 years old. You talk to andrea on a weekly basis . I would say probably about every seven or eight days. How is she doing . She has excellent care. George parnham was was and is still in andreas attorney. There isnt a day that goes by where she doesnt care for, talk about, is happy about her childrens lives before june 20th and grieves for her children. Parnham says she makes her days making crafts sold also spends time watching videos of her children. The hospital where she is, there are no wires or bars, theres no armed guards, no fences. For the most part its a life of solitude. She never leaves the hospital and has few visitors. While the case comes up for review yearly, andrea has never sought to be released. Rusty yates later remarried and now eight. According to recent court documents, his second wife filed for divorce last year. In a 2015 interview with oprah winfrey, he spoke about his grieving and where his acceptance is now. For some reason when i think about them today, i think of them as being teenagers or young adults. Your oldest son would be 20 now. Its easy to get caught up in how they suffered or the fact that theyre gone and what i tried to do was sa not going to let these events steal that joy. The joy that we had for those seven years. Family time is always precious and going back to school is rarer and rarer. The idea of apps is to get all of the busy work out of the way to focus on quality time with your family. You can go through and pick the we like podcast called story pirates where kids write stories and then these really funny comic actors act them out. Gets creative juices flowing and hit school with their brains activated. Homework time. Another struggling situation for a lot of parents. One of the struggles is sometimes your kids ask you for help and you dont remember google it. And now sch t understand. Khan academy is the gold standard. Its a series of videos and exercises that can help kids stay up to date but also parents can use this maybe while their kids are at school so when kids come home, they know what theyre dealing with and they can look brilliant. Its true. For some of us, a long time since we studied those subjects. Okay. Meal planning. You have an app for that. You either do the same goto things again and again and again or you spend hours looking through recipe books and online. So this is a Subscription Service called gathered table. For seven or eight bucks a month, theyll suggest meals for you and plan it out on a calendar and you can actually import your Favorite Recipes and organize it all on a Smart Grocery list as well. You can are there degrees of difficulty for these things . They are all makeable things. Nothing fancy. And then your final app. Tell us about this. It justifies giving your kids screen time. I know a lot of us im uptight about screen time. Sometimes what are you going to do . You have to go do something. At least you can make sure that your kid is being active and working on something opposed to just passively receiving stuff. This is the everything machine. Icons that you can move around and make your phone do things. So for instance in this one if you get your face on the camera, the light lights up. When you talk to technologists they talk about when they were kids they learn they could control the computer and a mindblowing experience that was. Summer wrapping up. Youre making one of my favorite dishes. Its good for the summer dish. I love it. You buy this stuff and bring it home and wr it now. Lets look at the ingredient grid. You have two kinds of sausage here. Bacon, zucchini, all stuff at its peak. First step is the meat. I have chicken legs. It has a higher smoke point so its good for the grill and garlic salt to give it more flavor. Toss it around in there. Chicken you should grill at medium heat so it doesnt dry out. It will cook for 20 or 25 minutes until it registers 165. Ill be back with you in a second. Talk about vegetables. Same thing. On there, garlic salt and pepper. They cook for a lot less time. Only a couple minutes. You want tomatoes to get blistered and yummy. And next step is the rice. This is really the base. Can i stop you for a second . I dont like it when rice is mushy. I like a crunch. Thats the best part. Im using already cooked rice onions and bacon. Bacon will help it crisp up because it has that fat in there and its going to give it a lot of flavor. You can even use leftover rice. You know when you have those containers from the chinese takeout. A great way to use it. Im actually doing this in a cast iron skillet instead of a pan so you dont have to have a special pan for this. You know whats amazing, we have our tasters at the table. They began eating this dish in our 7 30 half hour. Crispy rice is the two sausages, chicken and vegetables are perfect. Awesome. I want to know where charlie is. Dont you think he would like some . He gets the leftovers. There wont be leftovers. You are pressing it down. I press it all of the way in. You want that rice to have good contact with the bottom of the pan so it gets crunchy. You can put this right on the grill at high heat for 20 to 25 minutes. Its not going to burn. Thats how you get the crunch. You can scrape it. Tomatoes and lemon zest. Ill hold that for you. You will add fresh herbs. A lot of fresh herbs and lemon juice. Use whatever herbs you have. Im using basil, cilantro and parsley in this one. One time i did lemon basil. That tasted great. Add the protein. Chicken and sausage already cooked. You dont have to take it off the bone. You can slice sausage if you like. Shrimp is really good. Theres all kinds of things you can do with it. Put that vegetable in here too. Okay. Guys, whats your favorite kind . This. Do you like seafood . Seriously though. Do you like it . You nailed it. I love it when you like it. The shrimp. Even the vegetables are good. Whenever you put stuff on the grill it takes on such a good flavor. Its really easy the cleanup is nothing then. Did you try it, matt . Im going to try it.
