Its just a thin strip of showers and thunderstorms moving through Cuyahoga County as we speak. So lets take you right the cleveland metro. Again, from cleveland down towards akron, thats currently where were tracking those showers and a couple of thunderstorms in the mix. Nothing severe at this point, but you will if youre just stepping outside notice the gusty winds out there. If you look closely down towards richfield, right along, say, 71 towards strongsville, youre also seeing not only the lightning, but youre also projecting all of this to be within the next hour or so, Cleveland Heights in the next couple of minutes, euclid around, say, 5 10, mentor an lake county in 5 25. Leroy at about 5 40, and then just before 6 00 in North Madison is when were expecting the heavier showers and thunderstorms in your neck of the woods. This is round number one. I think around lunchtime well see a little lull in activity, even a couple of breaks in the clouds and a few peaks and then by this afternoon there is a very real and present threat that we could see strong to severe storms. Well talk more about the timing of that for later on this afternoon coming up in the next couple of minutes. Maureen, back on over to you all right, michael, thank you for those details. Now to our top story here. It all started with a disturbing photo from the East LiverpoolPolice Department posting to social media. Maybe youve seen this, showing the true effects of heroin overdoses. Then last night in akron police overdoses at one home. Channel 3s Hillary Goldstein has more on heroins impact to our community, and we want to warn you, some of these photos are graphic, but so powerful that we felt it was important to share it with you. Reporter a former fire scene at chapel hill mall, the pickup truck left mangled after hitting this yellow post, it rolled back wawr, crashed and caught on fire. The man inside had to be pulled from the inferno. Its hitting the city hard. Reporter a few minutes away in this city of say four adults o. D. Ed at the same house. A 3yearold child went missing from the home while everyone was passed out. This is what youre seeing and the children, unfortunately, are one of the biggest victims of that. Reporter in this particular incident out of East Liverpool, ohio, our biggest victim is very small. The 4yearold sitting in the back seat helpless, likely stunned and scared. Any shouts he might make to try and wake these adults isnt both o. D. Ed on heroin. Minutes could have meant the difference between how it play out and what could have happened. Somebody could have been killed, seriously injured. Reporter for this offduty officer, the adults, the child, they could all be dead. He saw erratic driving, roll down a hill and a a near accident with a school bus. He got help and the pair are alive today. Life isnt always the outcome, though. Across the nation heroin ods have been on the rise. Akron ma in july when 15 people o. D. Ed in 10 hours, one fatal. Now to a story weve been following for you, the man who shot and killed a woman after a car crash in sullivan has formally been charged. Counts ranging from aggravated murder and felonious assault. He remains in jail this morning on a 1 million bond. A battle is brewing between the Social SecurityAdministration Office in downtown cleveland and its union. Earlier this year a company sprayed the building for bed bugs, but it used the wrong pesticide, causing many of the Office Employees to get sick. Union representatives say they asked that the office wait to apply the pesticides on a weekend so that the fumes would have time to clear. Mr. Williams toll them verbally theres also a large e mail exchange. We absolutely requested no administration of the pesticides during the weekday. Union reps also say that visitors to the Social Security office were exposed to the chemicals but never informed. Bad news for cavs player shumpearth. The team has confermed he was arrested on suspicion of dui outside of atlanta. The cavs said in a statement that they have discussed the situation with him and there will be no further comments about the situation. Its possible shumpert could land in the leagues treatment policy. He could also face a suspension. A court date has not been set a brunswick farm honors the cavs World Championship with a seveneicher corn maze. Mapleside farms in brunswick went all out this year, maybe all in. An experimental drug for alzheimers disease is showing early promise. Drug maker biojen developed the drug and funded the latest research. The drug was found to significantly reduce plaque in the brain which experts believe play a Critical Role in the development of alzheimers. Experts are cautious, though, saying the study was too small benefits. Researchershope to have more answers when the study is finished in about three years. However, Research Shows movement may reverse symptoms. With continuous exercise, they can minimize that, and in many cases for a while, they it may be ill come back. It must exercise both the mind and body an thats where boxing takes a swing because theyre learning a scale and that scale is really critical to engaging the brain. All of this racing towards the northeast at about 40 Miles Per Hour or so. That brings things into mentor by about 5 30. And then around, say, geneva around the 6 00 hour. Heres what the bigger picture, though, shows you. So all of this is in conjunction with an area of low pressure and a cold front. Were seeing some of the storms this morning. But what were waiting for is this line, its that cold front that will move through, again, between the 3 00 hour and 10 00 p. M. Hour this evening, and with that, thats when well see the strong and perhaps even severe storms move into northeast ohio. So something to really make sure that youre watching very closely if you have any plans later on today. For tomorrow, as we mentioned before, well be much cooler after that cold front passes. Again, much cooler air moving in, and with sunshine. So tomorrow looking a whole lot better in terms of an outdoor day than today. This morning, again still tracking a few of those scattered showers and a few of those thunderstorms. I think that by lunchtime well see a little lull in activity, so if you need to get out and about, get a couple of outdoor errands done, go for it. Watch what happens at about 3 00 or so, thats when we start to see a few of those heavier showers and thunderstorms begin to develop. And notice that theyll move from the west gradually towards towards akroncanton, right around the 6 00 to 8 00 p. M. Hour is i think when we see the heavy showers and thunderstorms, ashtabula same sort of story. This continues to press on eastward. And i think that by the 9 00 to 10 00 hour most of the heavy stuff begins to thin and fade which is the good news. And it completely moves out of the area during the overnight hours tonight into early tomorrow. We wake up tomorrow morning to more clouds and a couple of isolated sprinkles.
