correspondent is here to explain the discipline that the officers face. hi. we all remember this tragedy started with the cars back fire mistaken for gunfire. most people know michael breelo fired after being found not guilty of manslaughter last may. five others are canned too because they broke basic safety rules about shooting in cross fire. police with gunfire sound from a dash cam in the shot by shot sequence which showed officers firing in what order. that could have been deadly for Cleveland Police officers too. the safety director fired officers michael breelo, diaz, michael farrelly. brelo jumped on the hood of the suspects car, reloaded the of 137 shots thinking the two were shooting at him. the city calls the process and investigation thorough and fair. it was very difficult. very difficult for all of us. there were General Police orders. there are manual rules and regulations that we expect officers to comply with. if they didnt comply with those particular General Police orders or manual rules and regulations, i sustain the charges. i am worried about us doing what we do right and being fair and transparent in what we do. i know that we have done that. six other officers were suspended from 21 to 30 days. one of the 13 retired. officers get extra training and hopefully the Consent Decree brings discipline and accountability the force has been lacking. the city already paid the russell and williams families 3 million to settle a civil coming partly because of this, a very painful costly lesson for the city and now the punished officers. it happened three years and two months ago. why did discipline take so long . it may seem unbelievable. the city decided the criminal justice process had to workforce, officer brelos trial and decision not until may. so many players and such a complex incident the city wanted to be thorough, fair, precise and that explains it. many think perhaps it could have been done sooner. thanks. what is next for the officers . police will contest discipline and ask for cases to go to an arbitrator. their punishment could be overturned if that arbitrator rules against the city. city officials acknowledge they have no idea what will happen once an arbitrator is involved. the mayor has been critical of the appeal process saying it ties the citys hands. police union to respond after hearing six would be fired and the others disciplined. the Police Union President called the rulings insane and says the city ignored the facts. experts we are paying tons of money to can prove it. i will go get their jobs back. i promise they will get their jobs back. to the family of russell they sent their attorney instead of attending today, he says it is frustrating its taken this long and called the actions a step in the right direction. the familys ultimate goal is to have closure. people are reacting on social media. producer danielle is with us to show us the varying opinions. some have sympathy for russell and williams. others side with the officers. administration. a well Trained Department would not have been involved in that. judy says the actions put the public and themselves at risk. it was a mess and beyond irresponsible. i am not comfortable knowing such a group is still on the force. heather has a different perspective. she says i have little sympathy. last night they were flashing lights behind me. i pulled over and spoke kindly, no ticket and no warning, just a reminder on the speed limit and have a great day. your Actions Create your destiny. this is obviously still bringing emotions out. absolutely. and opinions come from different areas. thanks very much. to keep the streets safe juvenile offenders can no longer have fake weapons. the Juvenile Court and Prosecutors Office are launching an initiative coming up friday. Authorities SayYoung Offenders use pellet and air guns to intimidate people. earlier this month Police Arrested a 14 year old using a this will let the Juvenile Court detain youth offenders or put them on probation for using look alike weapons. police captured a man who stole a womans bike and car this morning. marshall pressman returned home from walking her car to find Brandon Clark riding her bike out of her driveway. so she followed him in her car and cut him off. clark opened her car door and dragged her from the vehicle and punched her. he drove away crashing the car at west 32nd and frankly. Police Caught up to clark and as he was trying to plea pressman sustained nonlife threatening injuries in the incident. big news on the financial front will affect thousands of employees and customers. buying first merit for about 3. 5 billion. the deal will not be finalized until late fall. huntington will offer jobs to unclear what will happen to the 2000 who work at the akron headquarters. huntington will honor first merits charity donations. huntington has offered to fund a very substantial new foundation in akron, funded with 20 million which will be used to support those in need in akron and the excellent not for profit communities who serve the community. so if you are a first merit customer, they promise a seam less transition. branches will not change over until next year and there is a chance some will close if theyre in close proximity to huntington bank. those details still need to be worked out. fords ohio si Assembly Plant adding a truck to the production line up. the avon lake plant will make the Ford F Series super duty cab. the f series is americas best selling truck for 39 years straight. there is no word on whether it employs nearly we have temperatures in the 20s but wind chills will be in the teens so its pretty much as we head through the rest of the morning into midday, temperatures hold in the 20s and then peak around the 30 degree mark midday. you can see the noon time temperatures there. isolated snow chances will linger east of town. later in the afternoon, we may start to get clouds breaking up enough to see some glimpses of sunshine. i think thats about the best we will be able to do. we are going to stay on the cool side. i mentioned the snow. dont get excited about it. i dont think well find an inch of snow
