Cleveland State university astronomer jay renne molds is joining me to talk about this. these are really exciting times. it is. so how did they detect this . so mathematical discovery. this has been done before. if we look at some of our outer planet in 1992, we started to discover objects beyond the orbit of pluto. you look at the graphic here. you can see our solar system and the orbits and how they are set up here. you see pluto in red. you can see the whole idea of our solar system is a flat plane. look at the orbit of pluto in red. that is why it is considered a regular planet. its called a dorph planet. and i was trying to explain that. but hearing it from you, i am sure now that is going to make things go better. i think so. the whole idea is that in 1992, they started discovering objects beyond the orbit of pluto and they are very special. they are really in the classification of pluto, so when we look at beyond there, the asteroids or the large objects that are out there all kind of line up. its amazing. its a large object. its a little smaller than pl pluto. they are finding these possibilities all kind of center around or orbit around something sexual. so mathematically, there should be something there. there is no way we can see it. it may take five or ten years to find it. and and let me ask you this. it theres more discovery. and we will better tools. better technology. better commuters. better everything. our cameras. what we can do with a small backyard telescope with a decent camera on the back you couldnt do 20 years ago, our professional observatory. its amazing what we can do today. all right. how about this now . a note here if you wake up early enough, you may notice Something Different in the sky. five planets. that dominant plane the planet in may and june. you dont see mercury too often and usually in the spring, thats the best time to see it. a tip of how early . 6 45, 7 00 or so. and most people are up at that point. and then next week, february th, fifth and sixth, the Crescent Moon will be by the five planets. folks get out and have a look. its going to be awesome. great tips. always great to see.
