Emergency crews responded to a debris field in the ocean and divers are looking for 3 an Oregon Police officer is dead following a shooting overnight. It happened in the town of seaside. Police say the 39 year old officer was serving a warrant when he was shot. Another officer returned fire and hit the suspect. Who was taken to the hospital. The officer who died had been with the department for 13 years. No names have been released. 3 also new this morning. Year old lauri misch was last seen on linn street wearing a brown coat, blue jeans and tennis shoes. Police are concerned because she has Major Medical conditions including bouts with seizures. Im here with david howard one of the instructors for the survival classes going on at the blue ash rek center and nature park and over two weekends after this you were on the show fat guys in the woods 2014 and 2015. That is correct. What a stupid name but it was so much fun and the people we had on the show were awesome. Im sure you learned a lot on the show and a lot of what you learned on that show youre going to be teaching people today . Thats correct. One of the things that got to me was how easy this stuff can be and how many dont know these skills so thats what this is all about. What youre showing me today is how to make court take out of what we have in the woods something as simple as a leaf on the ground and tree bark and you can make rope that is so strong that you just cant pull those apart. I mean its just amazing how Something Like that can hold 50 you can make a trap catch a small game. Its right here from the woods. Wow. And talk about some other things that people are going to be learning in these classes. Of course the three classes that you have this saturday those are sold out but you are going to be doing this in the spring as well. What are some things people will be getting from these classes . We teach how to make fires so 15 or 20 different ways to make fire without matches and well teach you how to make shelter and miscellaneous stills how to make rope, how to pure identify water, how to dress appropriately for the survival situation youre and many things that we could teach in for or five days theres so many things to learn. And some people think im not outdoors say and would i hardly find myself in a situation that i would need to learn this. We had one people being stuck thats exactly right. There are so many things you can prepare for. People that were stuck for days there were a few simple things they could have done and been in good shape. If youre out for a day hike and you twist an ankle if youre five or six miles away from Everything Else how are you going to get out . We teach those skills to make it out alive. Awesome. Kids can go through so much and it just feels really good to put a smile on their face and make them forget oh im still in the hospital. Stacy barely missed a beat or bar bell as she continues as a cross fit instructor the team found that tough work out got to put in perspective. It doesnt mean much when when someone else is dealing with something so much bigger. Stacy said giving up cross fit never crossed her fit mind. You have the keep your mind in the right place if youre diagnosed with cancer you cant go crawl in bed and pull the cover up over your head. You have to pray about it. You have to stay involved and keep your normal activity going. The line for normal however she says has shifted. Have you changed your life a little bit . It did. It did. I would say probably for the better. They have sort of an interesting saying here when many of the people do these work outs and then finish and maybe feel a little tired as you can see it involved involves a lot of strength and what they say might also inspire you. The joke around here so but do you have cancer . Like after a work out its like im so tired but do you have cancer or excuse me did you just go through a chemo treatment . If she can do it. The real inspiration this class says they learned this year. You never know how strong you are until you have to be strong. And sometimes strong is simply always showing up. Now stacy just had a followup appointment this week. Shes praying for a clean bill of health and hopefully shell be able to get regular scans for the next several months to make sure shes in the clear.
