I didnt know if gunfire was going to keep going on. The shootout between the Orlando Police officers and three carjacking suspects happened in front of her juice bar. One of her employees, 19yearold patrick lange, said he heard the sound of screeching tires and so he ran to the barbershop next door. As soon as i was in the barbershop, the suspect decided to turn around and was hitting other cars in the parking lot while they were turning around. When they pulled out or were trying to the cops shot 10 to 15 rounds through the windshield. Anytime anyone runs from the police, it creates another dangerous situation. The police chief says the officers spotted the elderly mans stolen vehicle and chased the suspects. Its unclear if the drivers and two passengers had weapons on them, the chief said his officers felt like they were in danger. Suspects were trying to ram the patrol cars. The car was turning around to leave the parking lot and the officers had already blocked off the parking lot. So, yeah, i think the intention of the driver was probably to leave at all costs. The woman was shot in the arm and ultimately taken into custody with the two other suspects. On a beautiful january day, this was the last thing folks expected to happen out here. Its a beautiful day. People are in there doing yoga. Its just horrible. You never know about life. But thank god everybody is okay. Now were told the officers have been with the department each. Neither of them were hurt in all of this. Now businesses like this back to normal. Thank you, justin. A big push to solve a growing problem in Volusia County. Its a story weve been following all week. Dozens of Homeless People have been camping out for weeks now Administration Building on north beach street in daytona beach. Now leaders are working to figure out what to do next with this situation. News 6 reporter Amanda Castro has been following this story. She joins us live out there now. Have leaders figured out a solution to this now lingering problem . Matt, theyre still working on that. The permanent solution is to build a the longterm solution, rather, is to build a permanent fatality and help people get out of their homeless situation. Right now, theyre focusing on an immediate solution which includes finding temporary beds so people can go to a temporary shelter. Dozens of people have spent the last two months camped in front of the Volusia County administration center, posing problems for the workers there. Its a growing issue both city and county leaders are working to solve. To get the individuals placed into housing, to continue to look at where the gaps in services are, and how we can get additional shelter beds. Pam woods is leading the effort. She says theyre helping as many people as they can. More and more show up. Officials have also stepped up security. Daytona beach Police Arrested seven people thursday for fighting, drinking and drugs. Theres no place for these people to go. So right now, the police are kind of nibbling at the edges and locking people up for petty offenses and they just come right back. Whats met with business leaders, medical officials and key agencies to get an update on the issue. Our cameras were not allowed inside. The process. And having it be on the media, that practice. She adds theyre very close to getting 100 beds for a temporary shelter, but no word available. And the community is come together to help these people. You can see theres a large pile donated. The suspects forced their way in mom. Some of the suspects left with the moms boyfriend and tied him up inside the car. The car was later found with him inside. No one was seriously hurt.
