One of the pieces of evidence is this Surveillance Video that shows the 33yearold walking the woman to her unit at the uptown Place Apartments last october. Thats where they say he raped and killed her. Eric sandoval is getting answers about the other piece of information they may be considering. What have you found out . Right now, the grand jury is meeting on the fifth floor off the state Attorneys Office in the building behind me. They are looking it he video you just showed and looking at his if it theres enough evidence to go forward with the trial of this man, accused of raping and murdering one of the people he was supposed to be protecting. Orlando police say this is the last time the 27yearold woman was seen alive. Surveillance video captured her walking with the Security Guard inside the uptown Place Apartments where she lived and where he worked. She was found dead in her apartment two days later. She was raped and strangled and her body was wrapped in a comforter. Youve got a sexual battery, burglary and a murder. The evidence is stacked against the suspect. As prosecutors lay out their case for a grand jury today, news 6 has found out theyre likely going to show his Lie Detector Test which showed a 99. 7 chance that he lied. Theyre also going to read his admits this doesnt look good for me. Weve had a group of people take a look at the evidence and then decide if theres a basis to go ahead and file charges. The reality is that when youre talking about a grand jury, almost every grand jury will indict. In fact, kramer tells us in about 95 of cases, grand juries do hand up an indictment. The big question for prosecutors now is there enough evidence to move forward with a trial, to officially charged him with murder, rape and burglary. Were waiting for the grand jurys decision. A new twist into the investigation into two students attacked on their way to school this morning. We first reported the alert live at noon near Jackson Middle School this near orlando. Now police say the story has changed. News 6s erik von ancken is digging into the facts. What happened . Its been a day of lows for parents out here that got even lower. First they were afraid that somebody was biting their kids, walking to school here and then they find out that the person did bite the kids but too defend himself. Police say the two middle schoolers encountered the homeless man on the sidewalk just down the road from stone wall jackson. At first, police got this version of the story. The kids say they got to right about here when out of nowhere they say this guy tries to grab their phone. They fight back and so does he. Well, that put parents into a panic and the school on alert. Law enforcement is investigating an encounter two students had with a stranger on their way to school this morning near 436. While Law Enforcement looks into this incident, please remind your children about stranger danger. One guy passed on a bike not too long ago and tried to snatch a phone from a girl who was texting. So its kind of dangerous. But this afternoon, they got a different version. They said it was the students who went after the homeless man on the sidewalk first. Police have not found that man. We dont know how it started or whether anyone was hurt in the fire. Take a look at the video taken by a neighbor. This is on dover street in de land. Theres no word what caused the fire or if anyone was inside when it started. This morning, heavy fog forced governor rick scott to cancel his trip to central florida. He was set to visit valencia colleges new manufacturing training center, but his plane was unable to land. You can see why when you look at this video. Its a time lapse over downtown orlando this morning as the thick fog creeped in and stayed around until after 9 00 this morning. Clouds certainly made it tough to see out there. We looked around town today. We head from the coast, even across the inland areas as we take a first one. This is shot from the bridge near edgewater. Another really interesting spot, which was around town, was actually places like lake eola. Look at this one right here. The fountain, barely visible out there. You can see a couple of the trees out there. The fog was the big story. This is also shot somewhere around the palm bay area. You can see the street pretty much less than a quarter mile visibility. Theyre each facing a 25year maximum sentence in federal prison. The 18yearold and Gregory Mcdonnell pleaded guilty to a carjacking using a firearm. Deputies say the officer was preparing his g. P. S. At a four men carjacked him. His car was found abandoned after his wife called 911 and the onstar system located the car. The two suspects were a 15yearold and a 16yearold. In Orange County, the principal of maitland middle is talking to parents about threats made against the school. The reason for the threat is still unclear. News 6 reporter mark lehman spoke with parents who say theyre glad the school is taking action. School officials are not exactly saying what kind of threats are being made, but it was enough for the principal at Maitland Middle School to send out the two separate messages. Today were hearing from parents who are learning about whats being done to keep their children safe. Over the weekend, i was made aware of threats on social media and immediately reported it to Maitland Police department. Monday about a threat at maitland middle. What followed was a response by Maitland Police and extra precautions taken by the school. We had everybody go at different times so that we could not have a large group in the court yard at once. Were continuing to do that throughout the day. Theyre doing everything they can to protect the children. And i feel safe bringing my daughter to school. Most parents we spoke to say they felt comfortable with the response but the lack of information is concerning. The school is not saying what the social media threat was, but one parent speaking to us off camera described an Instagram Post referencing weapons and attacking a person in the courtyard of the school. Its supposed to also reference a possible gang connection. In her message, the principal code. No hats, caps, bandanas, hoodies are allowed on campus. Thats for all students.
