down to work. harbaugh had this to say. >> the joy of being back to work. >> you'll see a lot of smiles on everybody's faces and around the whole country. people i meet around town they keep asking, are we going to have football, coach? for sure. hey, the heat broke. the players will be happy. it cooled down. >> reporter: okay. players have until tomorrow at 6:00 to get all their belongings and get here and get to work. a lot of conditioning tests will be done. here's the news. this may be hard to swallow. several players released. it will be made official tomorrow. they include tightend sitement. today marks one week to the day that the u.s. could default on its debt. lamps night the president a -- last night the president and the speaker of the house took to the podium. the two sides seem a long way away from a deal. >> reporter: with the deadline now one week away, the president and the house speaker traded barbs before the american people. >> unfortunately, the past several weeks, republican house members have e selectionly said that -- essentially said that the only way they will vote is if the rest of us agree to their deep spending cuts approach only. >> i'll tell you. i gave it my all. unfortunately, the president would not take yes for an answer, even when we thought we might be close. the president's demands change. >> reporter: this highlighted their differences. lawmakers are considering rival plans pitched from the democratically controlled senate and republican control house. the main difference is that house speaker boehner's plan would raise the debt creeling in two -- debt ceiling in two stages instead of one. the standoff is likely to continue until congress votes on both plans. the stalemate is taking a toll with stocks and the dollar dropping and oil prices rising. both the president and house speaker said the country cannot afford default. >> we are up to the task. >> we can still come together as one nation. >> reporter: but america awaits action. washington, reporting for wjz eyewitness news. >> thousands of marylanders are awaiting the decision. hundreds gathered at the social security administration headquarters in woodlawn to owe most cuts to their benefits. also keeping a close eye on the situation, nearly 300,000 workers in m. and local companies with $60 billion in local contracts. a fire appears to have been set to set up a terrible crime. ron has the latest. >> reporter: city firefighters called to the 4300 block of nicholas avenue in northeast baltimore just before 7:00 this morning. emergency crews found a re home engulfed in flames. when firefighters entered they found a man's body on the first floor, another man's body on the second floor and a woman clinging to life. two of those people were shot before the fire. city homicide detectives are investigating the case but so far, they straff no motive for this crime. jessica, back to you. >> thank you. the identities of the victims have not been released. the baltimore police commander in charge of internal investigations was seen in pictures socializing with officer daniel redd. redd is accused of masterminding an international drug ring. warfield is not accused of wrongdoing. after an agonizing weekend, a 7-month-old baby is back with his family in baltimore. ki'yauhn birch was returned to his family. jonae boozer took off with the baby. they both turned up at a bus stop in washington, d.c. the baby's parents said they're grateful to be back with their son. >> my son is fine. nothing's wrong with him. >> we got him barks him. he's a member of the labor party, the political group breivik targeted when he opened fire on teenagers at utoya island. breivik said there are two cells in nor way and several more abroad. norwegian officials are casting doubt on those claims, saying they searched and have found nothing. >> police believe breivik acted alone. family and friends of amy winehouse paid their final respect s to the british assume singer. breivik's funeral was held in london. an autopsy failed to pinpoint the cause ofler death. investigators are now running more tests. the u.s. postal service is trimming the fat again. more than 3600 post offices across the country are now in danger of shutting down. most of the offices under review are in rural areas. postal officials say they're considering that's because we've lost so much of our humidity from the last couple of days. still going to be warm. 82346 ball. 89 in d.c. even in cumberland 86. we've got a warm afternoon but not nearly as muggy as it has been. winds have turned around to the north. all of that is because of the cold front that went through yesterday. those left us overnight. things cleared out. it's a foggy, muggy start to the day. now the drier air is taking over. we've got the cold air down to the south. we will benefit from this brief beautiful air mass that will stay on top of us. just whoever to the west there's a lot of heat building and that will start to move our direction. s that does, the temperature starts to creep up and so will the humidity. it will be held off for one more day. while this is happening, not only will the air dry out but our overnight lows are allowed to drop back into the 60s. here's the next warm front. it will bring in the next round of hot, muggy air. it will get warm and hot but probably not the same intensity and last as long as the last one. look at the numbers, 90 in dallas. 90s in kansas city. all of this is spreading north and eventually east. the forecast looks like this. 94 today. still very warm out there. if you get in the car, it will be hot but when you open u7 the -- up the window you'll get refreshing air. tomorrow we may stay in the 80s for our highs. it may be close to 90 but the idea is this will be the coolest of the next few days and still above average but still the coolest of the next few days coming our way. >> i like that we're excited about
