wreckage is all that is left from a small plane that crashed in a parking lot near new jersey teterboro airport. pilot and passenger managed to get out. >> i saw the wreckage. they said we were in the plane. i was taken back. how did you walk away from this? >> reporter: the men are severely burned, one over 30% of his body. both are conscious and talking. >> i tried to get a story from them. but they were both in shock. >> reporter: the twin engine aircraft was carrying medical spies minutes for quest dieing nottist ks the pilot was planning to land in the middle of the night when something drastically went wrong. a small plane took off earlier this month and minutes later crashd with a helicopter over the hudson river killing nine people, federal government rrs are on the scene of the crash -- investigators are on the scene trying to figure what happened. >> the guy from laurel was listed in serious condition and his co-pilot from pennsylvania is in critical condition the prisoner who escaped from custody in howard county last week has been captured. >> howard county sheriffs say devon champagne was found hiding inside the wall of a house. he escaped after he used his handcuffs to choke a deputy, the deputy lost consciousness and champagne ran away on foot. a tip led them to the home where champagne was hiding out. >> the federal marshals we give them the information they ran with the information. i have no idea how they got the tip. but they got a tip in richmond virginia and looked at that. had the house under observation for two hours, at which time they had belief to believe the gentlemen was in the house. when they entered there was various people in the house, they searched the house twice. they found him within the wall and took him in to custody. >> he was convicted of felony burglary before he made his escape. he will face additional charges including attempted murder for attack on the deputy. at least six police agencyes in the u.s. marshals service all took part in the effort. carroll county, witnesses saw the ultra light engine stop before the accident. the propeller stopped moving. the federal investigators say the control cables were corroded and the fuel may have been contaminated. a 61-year-old of davidsonville and a 66-year-old died when the ultra light went down from key mar air park. dc metro is taking extra steps to defend against lawsuits from the deadly june crash on the retdline. several lawsuits have been filed. metro hired a law firm in addition to the in-house attorneys. spokesperson says it will pay for the extra fees practice there is concern and confusion over what caused them to get sick. jessica kartalija is live at kent island high school. >> reporter: good afternoon. that's what happened here behind me op the high school football team. several players became ill including one of their coaches, they were all september to four area hospitals. football practice brought to a halt after dozens of players and a coach become sick. 14 people were transported to four area hospitals at last count 9 were taken to eastern memorial they've been released one person is still being held for heat exhaustion. and it's believed as i mentioned that everyone suffered heat exhaustion, no foul play involved at this point. everybody except one person has been released from the hospital. we will stay on the story. eye
