The big monster storm rolled into new york boston, into maine. Its still up there. We got the rain as a result. Now that its gone were getting the wind. Were looking at clear skies out there. The winds are because of the big low pressure moving out and High Pressure building in, creating the winds that we have. Our radar is not looking too bad for us. We have light sprinkles on the lower edge of this. Did not present any snow issues for us. You see that massive moisture just still moving up into canada. Its taking its time gets out of there. The longer it stays there with temperatures in the 20s in new england its going to dump snow. For us, we had a wienld advisory in place until 6 a. M. It has not been lifted. The winds are sustained around 20 Miles Per Hour at times and theyre going to be that way for a little while. The advisory stays in place until that starts to calm down. Temperatures in the 20s. Clear skies. Temperatures in the mid 30s and with the winds coming down, well have less of a wind chill. Well talk more about wind coming up in just a few moments. Okay. Of course, forecasters were expecting a big blast of snow from that storm system. So far thats exactly what people are seeing. Travel has become virtually impossible. The snow blew in sideways, piling up in drifts and burying cars on the road. Theres nothing you can do. You cant push it you cant drive through it. It kept blowing in all night long. People shouldnt expect any relief this morning. By saturday at 7 00 a. M. The worst of the blizzard will be in southeast new england. The snow was piled high on i95 in massachusetts. Nobody is supposed to be on the road there anyway. The governor signed an executive order friday banning cars from being on the road. Air travel has been crippled as well. Grounded flights in new York New Jersey and boston have caused a ripple of effects through out the nation. I was on hold for about 3 and a half hours. People stuck in airports have little choice but to find a quiet corner and get comfortable. There are tens of thousands of people here without power in connecticut alone. Even more power lines will come down through out the day with the snow still falling. Utility crews have moved into the area and are ready to spring into action. Shortly after breakfast the guys will be out there restoring the power. Getting the trucks out wont be easy until the snow stops falling and snowplows can clear a path. Boston is on track to break its all time snowstorm record of nearly 28 inches set back in 2003. Back here we are learning that the Perry Hall High School student charged with shooting a classmate on first day of school will be tried as an adult. 15yearold robert gladden junior is accused of opening fire in his schools cafeteria in august. Tomorrow on cbs the very best in the music business will compete for the grammys. All this week were looking at whats in the running for album of the year. This morning its time for funs album some nights. Album of the year nominees. Some night s by fun. Fun is a dramatic, big pop rock band. Each song is such a huge anthem. They go for broke on every song. They have this huge chorus and first pump moment. Sometimes you find a band that might speak to one genera. It seems to group into the other generas. I think particularly with young bands most nirvianna theres been a desire not to be big in the first place and to not make the big statement. It sounds like queen a little bit. If queen had a Broadway Musical queen comes to mind here. These are not common references or common influences these days. When things like that connect they can connect in a very big way. Its a time when a lot of people are scared to swing for the fences. These guys have. The fact they would come back with another song people cared about is a reason people could feel okay about voting for them in the big categories in year.
