Here is Jessica Kartalija to report, doctors and therapists fear it may harm our children. Good morning. As these touch screens become ma part of family life, children are using these tablets three times more than they did just 2 years ago. Play time for babies far different in the 21st century. Good job. Yeah. Parents could be making a big mistake putting touch screens in the hand of toddlers and young children. Do you want to play a game . Yes. Parents think theyre stimus. Doctors and therapists are raising a red flag. Too much screen time with hurt their developing bodies. Theyre actually always on the ipad and not doing the pencil activities its going to make those muscles weaker. Like most 6yearold nolan likes playing on his familys ipad. Do you want me to move onto level two . Please. His mom limits he has screen time but worries how much is too much knowing it can lead to muscle weakness. Is it okay for them to be constantly looking at something . I did not know this would be a part of our parenting. What does this work on . Finger and hand movement. Its part of nolans oak occupational therapy. He likes to use all fingers together. Hes working on handeye coordination and finger movements like grasping and pinching. All problems kids can develop with spending too much time on touch screens. Its about their body as well . A lot of children are coming in with motor delays, some decreased muscle strength in areas. Therapists are seeing more kids like nolan. The number of kids using touch screens have doubled. Almost 40 of babies under two and 3 4 of kids under 8 are using them. Something happens so they tap and something happens there. Its very enticing. What does this mean for generations to come . The technology is so new that researchers cant predict what damage might be done. That has doctors very concerned. Limited use, 3 to 4 hours of ipad use on their own, it seems that youre flirting with developmental danger. A warning nolans family takes to heart. We set a time limit. Trying to limit too much swiping and tapping that could change how an entire generation is changing. Jessica kartalija, wjz Eyewitness News. The move would allow extensions for people dropped be by their insurance plans. As mary bubala explains, it may not be that simple. First he said he was sorry, now president obama said the white house has a fix for nearly 5000000 americans set to lose 5 million americans set to lose their health care. I said i would fix this problem. The white house is giving Insurance Companies the option to keep offering plans that could have been canceled through 2014. Providers will have to make clear what plans do not include and let consumers know what other new options are available in the federal exchanges. Now, this fix wont solve every problem for every person. Its going to help a lot of people. President obama took questions for nearly an hour. We fumbled the roll out. Republicans are pushing lega llow customer to keep their current plans permanently. The only way to fully protect the American People is to scrap this law once and for all. State insurance commissioner commissioners would make the decision on whether people keep their policies. Lock heed martin will let marylanders keep their jobs. In one exchange found on williams phone he asked the child about the abused abuse saying what can i ask you, what got you to the point you want today go along with it. The victim responds stupidly i guess. Now prosecutors are trying to figure out if theres more victims. We want to reach out to the parents of the children in contact with that suspect and make sure that they ask the tough questions and find out if there may be anything that happened to them. Officials have set up a 24hour call center for parent that is have concerns. Here is marly hall with the story for wjz. Investigators in florida are still trying to figure out how a passenger allegedly fell out of this plane and into the atlantic ocean. Yesterday around 1 30 the pilot made that unaushlusual call. May day. I have a door ajar. Im head ing to tamiami. You have a door open . I have a door ajar and a passenger that fell down. Shortly after the plane took off from a private airport just outside of miami the pilot of the piper pa46 aircraft radioed air Traffic Controllers to tell them what happened. You said you had a passenger that fell out of your plane . Thats correct, sir. He opened the back door and he l down plane. The coast guard used helicopters and boats to search for the missing passenger. Authorities say they dont plan to find the man alive. Its reasonable that anybody that falls from an aircraft without a parachute turns into a recovery effort and not a search and rescue. Only the pilot and one passenger were on board the plane. Investigators are interviewing the pilot to try to piece together exactly what happened. Marly hall, wjz Eyewitness News. The coast guard and local fire rescue says part of their investigation is trying to confirm whether the call was real. Joel, welcome to baltimore and the Eyewitness News morning edition. Thank you. Facts should be apparent my plee its my pleasure to be with you. Lets get out of the way what youre in town to do. You and victoria are here to offer a night of hope. What do you think that is and why do we need hope . Its a 2 and a half hour event weve done all over the world. I think Everybody Needs hope. It feels like a lot of things are trying to push people down these days. So we come to people know that god has good things in store, they can let go of the past, move forward. Let me try to inspire people. Hopefully draw them closer to god and lift their spirits. One of the reasons youre in town is you have a new book out. When you just glance at it, the title is break out. That doesnt sound like a book joel osteen would do. Tell me about the book, how do we break out . Its talking about how its easy to get stuck in life. You get up, go to work, feel like youve reached limits. I feel like the first place we get stuck in our own thinking. I talk about believing bigger and taking the limits off of yourself and from god. Just practical things. Keeping the right perspective. Dont settle for good enough. Also i talk about praying big prayers. A lot of times we pray over our food, for protection. I think you have to pray for your dreams and hopes. Is it more selfhelp than religion . Its based on the scripture i feel like im helping people live out the christian life. Im not teaching doctrine in it. This is about how to forgive, how to have a good attitude, believe big. I feel like the scripture does help you to become better. Okay. If i can ask you a personal quen , its more personal towards me perhaps than you. I grew up in the church, i i communicate with large groups of people now all the time. I think i minister to them. All right. In my youth i spoke a lot at church. It was one of the few places i could find where older people would listen to a young man and not dismiss what they had to say. I know that you were involved in your Fathers Church but in a different aspect than preaching. When he died you took over and preached for the first time and now youve taken to a grand scale if i may say so. Do you ever get over the excitement, the thrill of being gods conduit or messager to a large crowd of people . I dont think you ever get over it. At least i dont. I feel humbled and rewarded evei get to speak in front of them. To hear their stories and how in some way youve touched them, of course its through the lord, but i dont ever lose that sense of amazement, even when i stand up at my church back at home. We have services where the rockets used to play basketball. I had season tickets when they were there. Every time i stand up to minister i still feel overwhelmed. Its a part of our message that gods plan for your life is bigger than you own. You dont know where hes going to take you. You stay faithful, honor him and he will do Amazing Things with you arrive. It sits 40,000 people. It sits closer to 16,000 pe. Light is brighter. I dont know if youve ever notd d that or i may be saying something that isnt so. It definitely is. I feel rewarded to be able to sk to people. Even speaking here tomorrow night i wont know them personally but in some way i want to touch their life to help them to draw them closer to god or help them over come things. I tell people, theres no greater pay, theres no greater thing than helping somebody else. Thank you very much for spending time with us tonight. Best of luck with the night of hope. Best of luck with the new book. Thank you. Its been an honor to speak to you. Youre having nice.
