Oh it for oh lam baabama care. Insurance providers are dropping more than 2 million people. The white house website said if you want to keep the Health Insurance that you got you can keep it. Now theyre being told they cant. Thats a lie. Thats sending more people into the Health Care Exchange. Here in maryland Officials Say more than 300,000 people visited the States HealthCare Exchange website. Website woes are a slow down. The exchange is working hard around the clock to fix all the kinks and work out things. 40,000 have created accounts on the site, 3,100 have enrolled for coverage. Ann chester said shes waiting until the glitches are gone. If they can get it fixed then well see what it is that we then may have to talk about in terms of whether it works or not. The lack of a fix, the source of a frustration for many. A contractor who developed marylands Health Care Exchange has hired more staff to try and fiction those glitches. It happened yesterday in pasadena. A driver in another car turned at the red light leading to the crash. No one is seriously hurt. Last week dwyer was sentenced to 60 weekend days in jail for a dui in august and boating under the influence where there was a crash that injured seven people. One year ago super storm sandy devastated parts of maryland, delaware, new york and certainly new jersey. Today some areas are still trying to recover. The house has been rebuilt with numerous donated items. Its overwhelming when you dont have your own place to go to. To finally have your own home and be able to come home, its undescribable. There was water into the dressing drawers. Ruth fountain of crisfield remembers super storm sandy. Flooding ravaged the Eastern Shore town. Shes among some of the hardest hit residents in maryland. The rebuilding continues. Theyve been through a lot. There were people who lost ever. There were people who have damage to their homes. One year ago today impacts from sandy were felt across the entire eastern sea board, including maryland. The whole state was effect from the mountains to the coastline with significant rain, wind and yes, even snow. Rainfall in addition to other factors like storm surge contributed to moderate and severe coastal flooding in maryland while places like the jersey saw saw great devastation. Marylands coastline saw major impact. We saw extremes here in maryland. The highest rainfall occurred in easton, maryland. 12. 5 inches. A Morgan State University honor student files a complaint with the school after he said he was barred from joining a from tenty. Kappa alpha psi is at the center of days crimination complain ant seen major Bryan Stewart said a member told him he would not get in because hes gay. It took me aback a little bit. Im Christie Illeto to explain the details when wjz retu,,,,,,,,,, at 25 past 6 00, the Annapolis City Dock is getting an anticipated facelift. Not everyone is a fan of the current plan. Here is Christie Illeto. Its a maryland gem for locals and tourists that will soon see big changes. What the plan does is it provides a 20year road map for the future for city docks. The plan to the Annapolis City Dock among other things widens the promanad and gives the option of building a flood wall, something major collins said preserves the city with allowing construction. We have the fix this. We have to fix the nuisance flod flooding. The main parking garage is over 40 years old. It would be nuts to do any major project without a coordinated plan. You have to accommodate for whats happening in the future. Local businesses say the docks history needs to remain untouched. Theres nothing broken about city dock. Some businesses told me off camera they do support this city dock master plan. Other businesses and residents have been concerned about the fact that there could be changes to traffic flow the historics and of course the big concern removal of parking. Taking away parking, surface parking, on the city dock will damage the access and volume of the businesses that are here. No secret parking is limited near the water. City leaders say a parking study will be done if spaces are eliminated by those changes. Some businesses hope additional parking can be part of the first phase of the changes coming down the pike. Today health and Human Services secretary kathleen sabilas will go before congress and be asked about who knew there were issue with the healthcare. Gov website and when did they know it. Here is Susan Mcginnis reporting for wjz. Health and Human Services secretary kathleen sabilas will be in the hot seat today, testifying this front of the house committee. The president should ask the president of health and human secretary services to resign her position. In prepared testimony she blames contractors hired to build the website for the centers for medicare and Medicaid Services or cms. She said unfortunately a subset of those contracts for healthcare. Gov have not met expectations. In testimony last week those contractors said the real problem was with cms which demanded lastminute changes and did not allow enough time to fully test the website. I want to apologize to you that the website has not worked as well as it should. Maryland tavener, the head of cms said fixes have improved the website. Youre saying the system is right now is working . Im saying its working, its just not working at speed that we want and at the success rate that we want. Contractors say they warned the Obama Administration about the glitches weeks before the launch. New details are being released about last weekends double murder suicide. The Police Department said 37yearold Christopher Robinson did not use his Service Weapon in that shooting. Robinson killed city firefighter Andrew Hoffman and marie heartman before taking his life. Robinson was unable to get over his breaking up with heartman who moved on. How the coastline is disappearing tonight at 6 00. Singer chris brown is checking into rehab after his runin with the law in washington dc. Tmz reported brown entered a facility for anger management issues. He was charged with assault in dc on monday, accused of punching a maryland man who tried to take a photo with him outside a hotel. The judge ordered brown back to court on november the 24th. No word if his rehab stint will change that date. A High School Teacher in North Carolina is out of a job after allowing students to reuse needles for a biology assignment. She said the students were determining their blood types were using a lab kit. The kit included needles that she allowed the students to reuse after they were cleaned with alcohol. She thought the experiment was approved by the school system. If it was not okay to use it should have been taken out during the summer. We dont want students to sharing a needle and second of all having any type of human blood in the classroom. An assistant principal stopped the process after receiving a phone call from a concerned parent. Mcmillan is not appealing her firing. The president is probably changing his passwords after one of his social media accounts was hacked into. A syrian group is claiming responsibility for hacking into the president s twitter account. A pair of tweets redirected followers to you tube videos promoting syrian president assad. Those links were compromised a short time later. The account is used by the president s campaign. The controversy involve ing ing attorney general doug gansler is putting south delaware into the spotlight. Now they responding with a warning. Here is Mike Hellgren with the story. Maryland attorney general doug gansler is taking the heat from a picture showing him at a packed teen party where witnesses say there was underage drinking. Now the town of South Bethany, delaware where it happened wants more parents feeling the fire, issuing a frank statement about teenagers saying many of the incidents that occur are the result of poor or absence super vision by parents. Parents often rent the homes and disappear, leaving teenagers to fend for themselves. Don henrati rent his home and knows things can get out of control and believe parents turn a blind eye. Senior week they would rather not know. Gansler has spoken out against underage drinking. He and the parents of several teens rented the home in june after his sons high school graduation. Police in town say theyre not investigating whether adults illegally watched as minors consumed alcohol. They said too much time has passed to move anything. They consulted with delaware state police. Those living near by say South Bethany is right for cracking down. Every parent should be aware of what their children are doing at all times. I dont care if theyre 12 or 19. Why the picture has been a blow to ganslers run for governor it has sparked a controversy. Gansler admitted he made a mistake not investigating whether there was underage drinking at the party. South bethany had eight complains for wild celebrations in june, down from 30.
