Updating the breaking news weve been following all evening. A woman shot in east baltimore. As sky eye chopper 13 was over the scene in the 1800 block of abbott court are as police were searching for evidence. It happened just before 4 00 this afternoon. We do not have word on the condition of the victim or any arrests so far. No bail tonight for the woman, a baltimore woman, accused of stabbing another woman to death at a cookout. Mary is in the newsroom with more on the fatal confrontation. Mary . Denise, it all started when one woman drove to her ex husbands apartment. Thats when police say 32year old latricia gowdy stabbed grand a beer bottle and threatened 30yearold Gabrielle Smith with it. Smith then allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed gowdy. She died of internal bleeding. Smith is being hold without bail on a seconddegree murder charge. Back to you. All right. Thank you very much, mary. Police did recover the murder weapon. A 150 million lawsuit against a Baltimore County hospital and one of its doctors is now in the hands of the jury. Rochelle . Reporter well, vic, the jurors started dlntding this morning. And there were already signs they are having a tough time coming up with a verdict. Reporter dr. Mark midei is having trouble. While practicing at the st. Josephs Medical Center, as director of the catheterization labs. They were treated appropriately and with the highest regard for their well being. Reporter businessman glen wineberg is one of the hundreds of patients suing medei. He is responsible for maryland live casino. He blames medei for leading him to believe he had coronary heart disease. Medei has defended has actions from the beginning. What i did was what i would want for myself, for anybody in my family. Reporter it brings to light, the decision for making what is best for the patient. What it shows is any physician has potential malpractice liability if he does or fails to do for a patient what he or she should do. Reporter winebergs attorney claims medei put stents in a mans heart, where they dont think. Medei fires back, saying he had already suffered a silent heart attack and may have died if not for the stents. I think what the jury has to decide is, is the harm, what we call, causeally connected. It calls for the beverage giant to change the way they advertise. These sugary drink ads reach our youth and greatly increase their sugar intake. Coke makes healthier drinks. But they do very little to advertise them. Reporter early ther year, coca cola began changing some of their ads, pitching healthier drinks. A spokesman says, weve seen the video and believe it is unfair to single out just beverages. We do marketing around 100blow calorie beverages. And taking the new ad to you, soda and nonsoda drinkers weigh in. In its important. And the statistics isnt sugar coated. Doctors say every time you add a sugary drink to their meal, it increases health problems. We have an obligation here to make our kids better, not worse. New ads like this arent the way to do it, telling you, you can be healthy and enjoy a soft drink as part of a healthy lifestyle. And figuring out one product is clearly the wrong message to send. And coca cola ads are also part of the conversation to address obesity. A 7yearold Montgomery County girl is fighting for her life tonight, following a tragic accident. Mary is joining us now with this story. Mary . Denise, police say the girls mom hit her with her suv, as she was making a quick trip to the grocery store. And her daughter must have tried to come with her. Reporter the montana count Montgomery County collision often responds to roadways, not driveways. But they went door to door, asking residents what they may have heard or seen along this stretch of concrete. Its shocking. Totally shocking. Reporter police say the mother was backing out of her driveway in a mercedes suv similar to this one, when she hit her 7yearold daughter, at about 9 15 sunday night. The 41yearold Mother Told Police she didnt hear nor feel a thing. That mother must be devastated. Reporter this neighbor said the mother banged on her door, once she realized what happened, asking for help. She is this very, very pretty girl. Reporter a Family Member and the girls 16yearold sister visited the house monday afternoon. The two talked with police, went inside, and then left. So your life just changes. Everything is great. And then something totally unexpected happens, turns your life upside down. Reporter police say the mercedes was equipped with a rear view camera, but say the mother may have recently disabled it for a state drivers test. She has to live with this memory for the rest of her life. Reporter police impounded moms suv as part of the investigation. Her 7yearold daughter remains hospitalized in Critical Condition tonight. Denise. Thank you, no charges have been filedded. Looking into how three maryland teens were able to get dozens of boxes of ammunition. It was apparently stolen from a trailer in anne arundel county, being used in a training exercise. Police pulled over three teens, with 70 boxes of ammunition, along with burglary tools. The tsa is trying to determine if proper protocols were followed. Blue angels will soon be flying high in the sky again. Navy said it is bringing the Popular Program back. Five months ago, when politicians couldnt agree on funding the government and the cuts known as sequestration kicked in, they were grounded. No joy that the Graduation Air show was canceled. Its been three years since they last performed here. Two years ago, an improperly performed maneuver and practice led to a safety standdown. And last year, the graduation date was moved and the team was already booked. Now the show must go on, much to the delight of lindsey shepis. Theyre amaze happening. Its amazing to watch. We now know that the middle School Student who killed a beloved teacher and injured two students at a Nevada School got the gun from his home. Now, police are releasing the frantic 911 calls for help. Teresa garcia reports with more. Reporter chaos and fear can be heard on emergency calls made during mondays shooting. 911 emergency. Students at sparks middle school. Can you please send police down here. Theres a kid with a gun. Officers were on the scene in three minutes. Were inside the cafeteria, where the students have been huddled. So theyre safe here. Were looking for the shooters now. Reporter about 700 were starting the school day, when a classmate opened fire. Teachers scrambled to get students inside. We had a gun pointed at them. So were locked down on the building. Police say as many as 30 children witnessed the violence. I got a dude down that has been shot. Copy. Teacher down. Teacher down. Reporter the boy shot and killed two students and shot a popular 8th grade teacher, michael lansbury, and then fatally shot himself in the head. We have a guy with a gun. Down with a headshot wound. The shooter made a chilling remark to his classmate. He pointed to us and then said, you ruined my life. And im going to ruin yours. Reporter police say the boy got the gun from his home. Police say the parents of the juvenile shooter are cooperating with investigators, and they do not plan to identify the boy, out of respect for his grieving family. Grammy awardwinning singer and songwriter, selo green appears in court, pacing facing charges. Reporter denise, a woman says selo green slipped ecstasy in her drink during a dinner date. Then he sexually assaulted her at her hotel room. Prosecutors did not charge him with rape, saying there was not enough evidence, but he is being charged for allegedly giving the woman drugs. New developments in the mystery sounding a young girl, found living in a gypsy settlement in greece. A u. S. Family is among dozens who think that the child, known as maria, could be their daughter. Alphonso van marsh reports for wjz with more. Reporter a greek Childrens Charity says it has identified eight missing children from around the world, who could be the girl known as maria. The smile the Child Charity has been caring for maria since police arrested, then charged a man and woman with kidnapping her. A kansas city couple says maria strongly resembles their daughter, lisa irwin, who was taken during a Home Invasion in 2011. Theyve contacted greek authorities with an image of how lisa may look today. However, lisa would only be about 3 years old now. The Greek Charity says maria is closer to 5 or 6. A greek Prosecutor Says a child psychiatrist and language translator will speak with maria to learn more about where shes from. Police became suspicious because maria looks nothing like the people in the room, a room where the egyptian found her. She said here in greece, there are rumors that romas steal children and send them to beg on the streets. You can see the fire completely consumed the building. Several cars were also destroyed. Now, no one was hurt. But officials do suspect it was started by arson. And his offensive coordinator, though, says he likes how flacco is handling the transition. Hes been working through with some new guys. New faces. I think that process is going along well. And every think day. We got better today. A little better. And a lot of it is because of him. Hes really, i think, done a good job of developing a ra port.
