more on the concerns over the mississippi river and it's cresting tonight, bernadette. >> it's cresting around there. further down downstream we have a few days since we crest. a lot of this started farther north in illinois, around those fringes. a lot of that came from storm over the winter. combine that with the rain we've had and it's taking a long time to make its way down. you can see the crest times may 19 and farther south later than that. as we head through the week, the other problem is it's dry for a couple of days but we have more rain coming in our direction in addition to wet weather. while we have a dry frame a few days, there's more heavy rain on the way. vic. >> reporter: thank you bernadette. still no charges tonight two days after the two local college students were victims of a possible hit and run. it's the latest in a string of accidents. wjz is live right now, adam may has new details on the investigation. >> that driver has been released from police custody. authorities are trying to figure out if he's actually to blame for the accident. now we're learning there's a new piece of evidence that could be a critical crew. >> reporter: security camera footage taken at the intersection of 33rd and st. paul street has been turned over to police. they are investigating a possible hit and run accident early in the morning saturday. >> i think the important message for all of the students, pedestrians of any sort is that you need to walk defensively. >> reporter: a university spokesman would not comment on specifics regarding the investigation. but police say the driver may have been stopped a few blocks from the scene. right now it's unclear if he may have been intoxicated or if the students may share some of the blame. >> it's unfortunate, because people coming from bars are driving, and people coming home from bars are walking. so a lot of confusion i guess. >> regardless we've had a lot of incidents this year. >> reporter: nathan crest left with a crippling brain injury after he was hit by a car on his bicycle earlier this year. and miriam frankl was killed earlier in the year. >> that's going to be a huge difference from pedestrian walkway. >> reporter: that will not affect the bar restaurant where students see a lingering problem. >> it gets really busy, especially in the weekend, this area is open 24/7. there's a ton of kids out here on the weekend. >> reporter: police have handed over their findings already to the state's attorneys office. tonight the states attorney's office says they are carefully reviewing the information. adam may. >> both students are expected to make a full recovery. a viral video shocks parents throughout the nation. the mother who told her son to fight another boy stands by her decision. but tonight she faces a slew of charges. derek valcourt has the latest on this case for us. >> reporter: the mother says this was a case of tough love, but police say her actions on that day were criminal. >> help me mom. >> no, get up and fight now. >> reporter: this video posted on facebook has landed this mother in trouble. >> i was scared for my son's life. that's why i did what i did. >> reporter: she told wjz her son was being bullied by the other boy, so he had to take action. >> i am sure i will face charges for this but i felt i was protecting my child to stand up to this child. >> reporter: she is facing second degree childhood and second degree assault. >> we determined that this mother's action, she did encourage them to fight. it did place this these two boys in threat of getting hurt. >> violence is not going to solve it. >> reporter: if kelly white is convicted on all of the charges she now faces she faces a possibility of up to 33 years in prison. live in baltimore county police headquarters, derek valcourt. >> the boy's mother is not under arrest. she has been issued a criminal summons to appear in court. a car goes flying off the beltway and ends up submerged in water. the driver reportedly lost control of her car, it then went off the road and ended up in a sediment pond. very calm conditions here in maryland tonight. a live look outside right ohio valley up to new england. this means baltimore, maryland, right in the middle of very fine weather. rain to the west and east will stay there looks like for most of the week. the only really -- what you can call cool 68 in crescent. looks like these same temperatures will be with us pretty much all week long. there's some word that we may see relief at the pump, denise koch is in the newsroom to tell us about this. >> reporter: nation wide prices have jumped over 12-cents, the national average $3.96. wjz is tracking prices at the pump in maryland. right now the average $3.98. one month ago just $3.73. but relief does appear to be on the way. last week's drop in crude oil prices should lead to lower gas costs in the near future. most analysts are now announcing a drop of 60-cents as early as june. >> we'll take it, denise thank you. a 60% drop in prices could save americans $1,000, americans $1 trillion a day. the owner of animal kingdom lives right here. trainer and suzy's ankle now has enough bone to walk on. it is such an emotional moment for susan. especially since doctors told her she would have to have her leg amputated. she refused to accept that fate since rain staying right here over northern minnesota. moved into wisconsin, that's going into the mississippi river. they don't need that. more moisture runs through the west of us and they will see more showers and thundershowers again in the mississippi river valley. for our region, big air low pressure east of main, that means the flow continues to come here out of the north. adding dry eastern big question after osama bin laden was found hiding in a pakistani home. daniel notingham reports for wjz. pakistan has been blamed of hiding the leader of al-qaida. >> reporter: the prime minister say's the country's army will investigate who helped harbor the leader of al-qaida. the pakistani government was concerned about how the discovery of osama bin laden in their country would be perceived in washington. within hours of president obama's announcement that the terror leader was dead, a lobbying firm representing pakistan's government started making calls to members of congress denying anyone had protected the al-qaida leader. president obama says the u.s. will investigate whether osama bin laden had a support network in the country. so far his national security advisors say there's no evidence anyone in pakistan's government was part of that network. the obama administration is pushing for access to osama bin laden's three widows who are now in pakistan any custody. jay carney says he's hopeful corporation between the two countries will help that happen. >> we remain confident that we will be in cooperation with pakistan. >> reporter: in washington, daniel notingham, wjz news. the leader of al-qaida in iraq said today that president obama is no better off after killing osama bin laden. the president will tackle the economy at a special cbs town hall meeting later foreclosure. the state of maryland is the first to use federal mortgage assistance funds to help families stay in their homes. pat warren has more on this program and how it could help you. >> fate of a delaware pediatrician facing very serious charges. dr.earl bradley is accused of assaulting more than 100 young patients over a decade. police say they have video proving that bradley committed the crime. he is scheduled to go to trial starting next month. all eyes are on the courtroom as casey anthony waits to go on trial. >> reporter: anthony started crying at one point during jury selection. lawyers are trying to pick 20 jurors to hear the case against the young mother. she is accused of killing her 2- year-old daughter kaley then dumping her body in the woods. the trial will be held in orlando. the case is being held 100 miles away because of the intense interest in this case. the jury will be sequestered and it could last for two months or longer. >> reporter: if she is convicted, anthony could face the death penalty. people in oregon are hoping hope they can find a young boy alive. kyron's biological mother and father think that his stepmother may have something to do with his disappearance. -- this was the third security scare on a flight yesterday. the driver who caused a deadly crash says he's not guilty. the double decker bus slammed into a bridge killing 70 passengers. police say he made a wrong turn then was distracted by his gps device. propelled grenades and tear gas were turned on the crowd. newt gingrich announced his intentions on twitter and facebook. the move isn't a major surprise as gingrich recently opened a campaign office. gingrich has been a popular speaking since stepping down from the house in 1999. in tonight's consumer watch, students will be graduating with more than a degree, they will also have record debt. this year's senior will owe $23,000. that includes fees taken out by students and parents themselves. that's 8% compared to last year. a project to move forward in the city. mayor blake toured the proposed lexington square project. the project will be where reed's drugstore stood. last missing after a tropical storm slammed the philippines over the weekend. people in the philippines were hit with gusts of up to 70- miles-an-hour. forcing 50 people to evacuate their home. more than 400,000 others still don't have power tonight. a food processing plant goes up in flames. it took 450 firefighters to battle the blames. workers say they heard an explosion before the explosion. at perry has more. >> reporter: we have a real nasty accident vick. this is in the essexx area. this is right near martin's boulevard. two vehicles involved, one with entrapment. the vehicle you see firefighters working on right now. one person is trapped in the car. the other vehicle hit a utility pole. so police have completely closed orems road which is not too far from martin boulevard and this time at the naval university. >> reporter: the naval acad naval academy says it will begin a nationwide search. over the weekend arizona head coach sean miller declined maryland's interest and signed a contract extension in tucson. so the latest name to emerge on the list of possible can dates is mark turgeon. he and his family were on vacation over the weekend, so there's no confirmation if the university has spoken to him. he is a kansas native, he played for ku and was an assistant coach at his alma mater. he's led the aggies to four straight ncaa tournaments. lou scott is diagnosed with a torn laborum in his shoulder. the plan for now is keep playing, possibly have surgery in the offseason. scott can still swing a bat but deals with pain while throwing from the outfield. he will continue to play outfield to get relief from felix pie. we're going to hear from luke scott next hour. he will discuss the o's hitting woes. news from a lacrosse retirement, we'll have more in sports. and a transplant patient is talking for the first time and his results are stunning. >> reporter: dallas weins is getting used to his new face. >> it feels natural. it feels as if it has become my own. >> reporter: it is a remarkable transformation from the way weins looked like before. two years ago he was on a construction sight. he woke up three months later with his face burned off. >> he was literally a man without a face. he had no ability to smell and at times he had difficult breathing. >> reporter: doctors and nurses worked for 15 hours to transplant an anonymously transplanted face on to weins face. the nerves and animation are all new. >> i can never express what has been done. what i have been given. >> reporter: weins is still blind but he's now breathing through his nose. his first aroma, hospital lasagna. >> i cannot imagine it smelled delicious. >> reporter: he is looking to enjoying his life with his daughter. >> she actually said, daddy you are so handsome. the u.s. military paid for weins surgery and hoping to use what it learned to help veterans with similar injuries. just in an hour week of low intensity exercise can help reduce colon polops. polops
