Meteor logical impacts of this sort of rare. These happen once every few decades. Reporter there is another expected to to to pass later today. That is absolutely frightening. Fortunately, no deaths were reported. We have breaking news in west baltimore, where a police chase has ended in a crash. Lets request to go to captain jeff long in sky eye chopper 13. Reporter more than a few police cars here. This is where the car came to a stop against the side of this building. This started out as a stabbing, which was associated with an attempted robbery at the arundel millsshipping center and Anne Arundel County. They put out a bulletin on the description of the char. Car. And the Maryland State Police located the car, northbound on 95. Chased it into the city. And this is where it ended up. On the ground, weve got Maryland State Police. Weve got Baltimore City police, baltimore sheriff. And theres even a police car down there from coppin state university. This is on fulton, just south of north avenue. The entire block is shut down while they investigate. Now, nobody was injured. But we do know that there at least one male suspect in custody at this time. Reporting live from sky eye chopper 13. Public works is getting plows ready in case of an accumulating snowfall. Right now, its sunny and mild, but clouds will roll in. Where is the storm . And what impact will it have on maryland . Meteorologist tim williams is tracking first doppler radar. Weve had practice with these types of storms. About every three days, were getting another one. And each is like the day before. Take a look at radar. You see a lot of moisture across the region. Because weave had such dry air in place, the dew points have been so dry. What youre seeing moving across parts of maryland now, most of that not making it to the ground. But we will start to see the atmosphere moisten a little bit. As the storm makes its way to the coast. And it should intensify as it does. In the meantime, we have been up around 60 degrees in central maryland, which means the roads are going to be very warm. It will take a little bit for anything to really accumulate. The storm will move toward the coast and then intensify as it starts to make its way up toward the northeast. What it will do in the process is start to pull down cold air. So in the latter portion of the evening tonight, into tonight and tomorrow morning, well start to see more cold air filtering in and that will be the beginning of the wintry mix that were talking about. Gigi barnett is in the newsroom with the investigation. Baltimore city police were involved in the training. The fraternal order of police now says its concerned that the facility was not fully staffed at the time the officer was shot in the forehead. The shooting happened on tuesday, at the old rosewood Psychiatric Hospital in owings mills. Sources close to wjz tell us that instructor William Scott kern mistook his Service Weapon for a similar weapon and fired, hitting that trainee right in the forehead. He was only one of two instructors at the time. And schwartz says there should have been at least four officers supervising that training. Prosecutors charge olympian Oscar Pistorious with murder. The man who once inspired the world could soon spend the rest of his life in prison. Reporter Oscar Pistorious held his head in his hands and sobbed, as prosecutors accused him of the premeditated murder of his girlfriend. The 26yearold pair olympic superstar is charged with killing model reeva steencamp. Prosecutors say he shot his girlfriend in the Early Morning hours of valentines day, in a possible domestic dispute. Family members issued a statement, insisting the world famous sprinter is not guilty of murder. They wrote, Oscar Pistorious has made history, as an olympic and pair olympic sportsman and has been an inspiration to others the world over. He would like to send his deepest sympathies to the family of reeva. Police say he shot her four times in the head and upper body. Local media reported gunshots blasted through a bathroom door. The shooting is making headlines around the world. The sprinter was nicknamed blade run i for his prosthetic running blades. One of his hobbies was target shooting. A writer for the New York Times magazine, got a surprising invitation, while interviewing pistorious last year. We got went to the firing range and shot his semi automatic pistol. That is the cold air that this lowpressure system is going to start tapping into, later in the day tomorrow. Roads are warm. Air is warm and pretty dry right now. But as the system starts to move in closer. You see it just kind of clipping the lower portion of ohio. Were starting to see the colder air filtering in. Tonight, the clouds will increase. Well start to we see with this warm air, rain coming down late tonight. As the system starts to move through in the coldest time of tonight, you see, it hits the coastline and starts to strengthen. It will start to kick back some moisture, back into that cold air. And later really all day tomorrow, at any given time, we could start to see snow showers. But then a blast of snow before it starts to move out. Again, that will be in the coldest time for tomorrow. And temperatures dont start to rebound for the weekend. And winds will start to kick in. Meghan mccorkell has more on this chaotic scene. Reporter you can see, this was the suv that was involved in that pursuit behind me. They are about to tow that car. Now, the chase ended here at north fulton and westwood, on the west side. You can see the damage that that suv did. It went right into the side of the building, caused a hole in the building. Were all told this started at arundel mills. Investigators say a woman was stabbed in the parking lot there. A lookout went out for a green acura suv. Well, state Police Spotted that vehicle. When they attempted to stop the suv, the driver sped up, kept going, led police on a high speed pursuit. Witnesses say the driver was driving very erratically, up to 100 miles per hour, according to some witnesses that weve spoken to here in the area, saying that they almost got hit by that suv. It eventually crashed right here at north fulton and westwood. Police have apprehended that suspect. Well continue following this developing story. For now, were live in west baltimore. Reporter two days later, dorner was caught in a gun battle after two separate sightings. Carol reynold and her husband jim called 911 to report that dorner had tied them up and stolen their car. Potentially making them candidates for the money. We didnt think about that. Reporter another possible candidate, rick. He was carjacked by dorner and reported that immediately to a sheriffs deputy. I called him directly. He said, what you got rick . And i said, paul, he just took my truck. Reporter it may not be who gets the reward but whether anyone does. It may have been offered with a catch. The reward is for capture and conviction. Does this let them off the hook . Better Public Relations for the city to give away this money . I think so. Police say they have pretty solid leads. But unfortunately, no arrests have been made at this time. Surveillance video caught the final moments of life for deontae smith. It happened on the fifth. Smiths family says the violence among the teenagers must stop. They are asking people to speak up so justice can be served. President obama traveled to chicago this afternoon, where he met with students enrolled in a youth antiviolence program. As they talked about the 6year olds killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School children the. They gave their lives to protect the most precious children in their care. The suspect stole clothes from the sears center and left a Shopping Center in a stolen car. They went up a highway access ramp. The suspect hit the suv. That driver is still in the hospital. Well, the deadline was today. And 16 people have filed to be the next Anne Arundel County executive. This is all the result of john leopolds criminal conviction and resignation. Reporter surrounded by family, john hammond stepped out of his annapolis home as snang arundels acting. A temporary job and he now wants to continue. I am now seeking office for county executive to fill the remaining term of mr. Leopold. Reporter who resigned after a criminal conviction, with still 21 months to go in office. He was working as chief Administrative Officer when the council named him acting executive. He wants the next 21 minutes to put the issues of the past couple of years behind us and reinvigorate the county. That includes romantic rendezvouses. Hammond says he will continue to drive himself in his pickup truck. But others are trying am . If the voters could vote on this, i think i would be very strongly the favorite. Some are just rocky materials. Some are iron. Reporter look to the left. Its estimated that a million russians have cameras in their cars to discourage corrupt traffic cops. Thats why there are so many images of this. That streak is 175 miles long. Theyre moving so fast. When they hit the atmosphere. Its like doing a belly flop on the water. It hits and theres friction and they blow up immediately. Reporter this one blows up in midair. The meteorite size is not certain. Maybe the size of a human, maybe the size of a car. Its speed . 25 to 30 miles an hour. When they are moving through space, theyre traveling. The atmosphere is thin, you might think. But its like hitting a wall. Easy to understand why so many were injured when you look at a surveillance camera from this office. Flying glass causes most of the injuries. Its almost like pancakes. Well, there was another meteorite sighting today. But it was only visible from the other side of the earth. Everyone was worried about that one. Im telling you. Theres snow in your first warning forecast. There has been an arrest in the ashduction of a philadelphia 5yearold girl. She was taken to school and found a day later. Police say she was raped. There are more people involved in the crime. And john mcdevit reports for wjz. 19yearold Christina Rutgers left this morning, handcuffed and headed to jail. Investigators say ra gusters is seen in this video. Ra gusters has been charged with 14 crimes, 11 felonies. Including rape, assault and kidnapping. Shes been in jail for a long, long time. Ra gusters did not alone. But so far, has not mentioned anything about alleged accomplices. More people are responsible for what happened to this girl than just the 19yearold that was arrested yesterday. So i ask anyone that can hear my voice to call 215tips. Ra guster was picked up. Three others were also questioned but later released. Investigators say the 5year old led them to the house, which is only two blocks away from the school. Investigators say the girl told them she was held here and there was a bird inside the house. Animal assessment took this macaw out of the house. There was dna found on the t shirt where she was found the day after the kidnapping that helped investigators crack the case. Im pleased that we made this progress. But i also just want to be cautiously optimistic that this is over. Reporter the commissioner says despite her assault and abduction, the 5yearold victim is very brave. And she was a big help to detectives who relied on her recognition. She was subjected to a great deal of trauma. Yet she was still able to be a good witness and help us. An 80,000 reward is being offered for the arrest and conviction of those involved. Over a decade later, new details may be coming out about the murder of washington intern chandra levy. A prosecutor says, defense lawyers made claims in december, during proceedings that the government doesnt agree w. The hearing were sealed due to undisclosed safety reasons. Reporter a mothers grief and a husbands tragedy, as they come face to face, with actress amy locane, convicted of killing helene semen in a drunk driving crash. The drunk driving has got to stop. Its got to stop. You cannot do this. Reporter semans family spoke directly to locane, during her sentencing. The murderer is not a victim. Her kids are not victims. Reporter the 41yearold had three times the legal alcohol limit, when she crashed into semen and her husband as they pulled into her driveway. I made a terrible choice. Reporter locane also spoke in court, apologizing to semens family, crying about when she talked about being away from her two little girls. Ive had to live with my girls abruptly having them taken away from me. I have never experienced this kind of pain. I will spend the rest of my life, making sure that people understand the tragic effects of drinking and driving. Reporter the judge said he didnt believe it was locanes first time driving drunk. But instead of giving her the maximum 10 years in prison, he gave her just three. Saying its because she has a sick child with crohns disease. Semens family burst out in court. Having a sick child doesnt give you a pass to kill my wife. Reporter the prosecution called the sentence shocking, saying that locane has already served two month asks could be in ray Halfway House in six months. Police in Washington State find garbage bags full of mail on a mans car. It literally weighed a ton. The thief took the mail from victims mailboxes, looking for credit cards and checks. Officers believed he used riprinter and scanner to make fake drivers licenses and steal their identities. They say he spent 3,000 under one victims name. Some are claiming a boxing round was a hoax. Shower activity. This is all rain. For the most part, this all rain activity, even in portions of pennsylvania, where its in the mid to upper 30s. Wet snowflakes mixing in some of the highest elevations. West of us, breaks up a little bit. But theres also a little snow out there. Second cold front. That has pretty cold air in it. That will be with us over the weekend. Behind the front, temperatures, 17 now, minneapolis. Middle of the afternoon. 30ux 31. Theres just enough cold air coming in behind this system that will chill us down for the weekend. Well be in the 30s primarily. But what we have on tap tonight. 55degree temperatures. But we have this front going through the region. A little area of disturbed weather, causing shower activity. Later tonight, as it gets colder, you may see a dusting to maybe as much as an inch on the lawns. North of town, as the cold air moves in. Now, during the day tomorrow, this area of low pressure redevelops into an area low that will develop in new england. What may happen later in the day. Flurry of activities. Most passes well to the east. But certainly, its going to get colder throughout the entire weekend. Slightly warmer by next week. South winds on the bay, becoming northwest at 5 to 10. Bay temp, around 39 degrees. So for tonight, look for some rain. And then later on, maybe some snow showers. 34 by morning. So it stays above freezing. And the roads are very warm.
