transported to shock trauma by ground unit. his condition at this time -- it's believed that his injuries are not life threatening. officers are on the scene. they are maintaining a crime scene and conducting an investigation into the shooting. hopefully, we'll know more later. >> captain mike, thank you. a very active scene and we'll bring you new information as we get it. big changes could be coming to a post office near you. first class mail may be a thing of the past. we have more on the drastic cost cutting plan. >> reporter: it's going to take longer for your mail to get to its destination. for the first time in 40 years, the u.s. postal service will slow down first class mail. >> it's not fair. >> i think it's ridiculous. >> half of all first class mail arrives the next day. it will take two days to deliver magazines, mail order medications, and that birthday card to mom. the cuts come as the postal service faces default on a payment for retiree health benefits. and as most people move from snail mail to e-mail, the post office has been in the red. >> we've got more capacity in our network than we can afford. >> reporter: the postal service announced that the price of a stamp is going up to 45 cents. 3700 local post offices are set to be shut down. >> everything in the world is more efficient and the post office is less efficient now. >> reporter: the postal service wants mail delivery cut down to five days a week. allison harm lynn, wjz wjz eyewitness news. airport security is once again under fire. this time for what happened to an 85-year-old grandmother. denise is following the story from the newsroom. >> reporter: the woman says she was strip searched in new york at jfk airport before a trip to florida. she avoids the full body scanners because she fears they will interfere with her de-fib later. two agents took her to a private room and removed all her clothes. >> mortified, outraged, angry. do i look like a terrorist? >> reporter: her leg was injured during the strip search and she is considering suing. the tsa says it has reviewed surveillance video of the search and says proper procedures were followed. today an 88-year-old woman claims tsa subjected her to a search because they were suspicious of her colostomy bag. jury deliberations are underway in the trial of the top aide to governor ehrlich. wjz is live at the courthouse. >> i have no idea. i cannot tell you that. he just threw up. >> reporter: champion later died and the university dismissed four students for violating the school's hazing policy. cbs news has confirmed that some of the same drum majors marching in the funeral were those dismissed. >> i feel comfortable that i did all i could. i'm not proud that i lost one of my children. >> julian wright, the band director, was fired after champion's death. he tried for years to stamp out the hazing tradition. >> the drum majors are a step above so i talk with them even more than the band. >> reporter: ten days prior, white notified the school he was suspending 26 band members for separate hazing incidents. the following day, a school dean and the university's police chief met with the entire band to admonish them about hazing. the anti-hazing methods never got through to some of the students heading to the biggest performance of the year. champion died just two days after that warning. as state investigators pursue possible criminal charges, all the marching band's activities are on hold. and there's a mandatory assembly tonight. mary is live in the newsroom with how heart ache -- >> police arrested four people. danielle thompson and three others jumped her ex-boyfriend and a woman early sunday morning. the two were walking in glenn bernie. the two male suspects assaulted the male and robbed him and they kicked the female victim. the victim suffered nonlife threatening injuries and were transported to baltimore medical center for treatment. >> all the suspects were arrested and charged with robbery and assault. the search continues for a missing washington, d.c. sanitation worker. charles duck it vanished friday afternoon. his boat eventually washed ashore without him in it. montgomery county officials have been coordinating the search along with other agencies, including the dive unit. >> the family of a missing florida woman is sending a message to the man who they believe is behind the vanishing. the latest on michelle parker. >> you can't run. you can't hide. we're coming after you. the father is not holding back. brad parker believes his ex- boyfriend, dale smith, is responsible for her disappearance. >> i know he did it. we just got to prove it. >> reporter: it was an awkward dichotomy. having fun at a bar while raising money for a missing woman. watching divers this week, looking for his daughter, nearly stopped his heart. >> when they went to the lakes, my heart went to my legs. >> then they come back up and said they didn't find anything and my heart started beating again. >> reporter: searchers went to a new location by state road 520 near the orange, brevard county line. her mother refuses to give up hope. >> i have access to 300 more people on atvs. 300 more. that goes to show you that there are so many awesome people willing to help us. >> reporter: rick thomas has known brad parker for 35 years. and stress of searching for michelle is taking a toll. >> when it's somebody you know, how does this happen? we're in california. last night she fits the news. >> it's been eight years. >> reporter: nobody is sure what happened to her and nobody seems to care. arrangements are being made for her to finally two home. >> i'll give her a kiss. >> she's going to enjoy some of the california sunshine. eight years. the family plans to fly the dog home in the next few days. i'm sure he'll remember them. >> i just hope the airline takes good care of him. sex abuse scandal. first penn state, then syracuse, and now a professional baseball team is under fire. stick ahead for the upcoming forecast. complete coverage continues with denise coke, vick carter, and first warning weather is bob turk and meteorologist bernadette woods, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, we want to update the breaking news we told you about. a police involved shooting. sky chopper 13 is over the scene. during the drug search inside a home, a baltimore county police officer's gun accidentally went off, striking a city police officer in the shoulder. the city officer is being treated with nonlife threatening wounds. wjz has a crew on the scene and we'll have more at 5:00. shocking allegations against a former red sox manager could land him in hot water. >> reporter: two more men have accused a red sox manager of sexually abusing them. a boston attorney is seeking a settlement for the two men. they were attendants in 1951 when donald fitzpatrick allegedly molested them. in 2003, the team settled a lawsuit with seven men who said he molested them. >> reporter: this is the video that was captured from the dashboard of the officer's patrol car as he followed tony danuncio on october 21st. he witnessed him making illegal lane changes before he decided to turn on the flashing red lights as the two pulled into the shopping center. the video shows officer tutor approaching. >> in the video, as soon as mr. danuncio -- he begins given verbal commands. and he uses the next lowest level of force. and then it escalates from there. >> reporter: police say that danuncio refused to surrender to arrest. and officer tutor used his taser 13 times to try and subdue him. >> when two other officers respond, it takes all three of them to take him into custody. >> he acted in the best of his ability with the options that were available to him. >> reporter: several people witnessed the entire incident, some of whom called 911 to report excessive use of police force. the owner says he has one video of the altercation captured on a witness' cell phone or surveillance camera. the district attorney's office is filing charges against tony danuncio. a sunday drive turns into a costly crash in western japan. a chain reaction led to an expensive pileup. the crash started one -- after one of the ferraris slipped into the median. the cars were worth $3.8 million. in health watch tonight, first it was apple juice and now it's rice. arsenic found in rice could pose a health risk, especially to pregnant women. randall pinkston reports from new york. >> reporter: she's trying to eat right during her pregnancy. rice is something she has on a regular basis. >> risotto. and >> reporter: eating rice could expose women and their unborn babies to levels of arsenic. 229 women ate a half cup of day on average. >> women who reported eating rice had higher urine concentrations. >> reporter: arsenic made news when a consumer reports story unveiled high levels of lead and arsenic. >> arsenic occurs naturally in the environment. but high levels are dangerous. >> we're not recommending that people stop eating rice. we just need to monitor the amount of arsenic in our rice. >> reporter: this expectant mom is not too concerned. >> people have been drinking apple juice for decades. >> for now she's not making changes to her diet. over 10% of women in the study had drinking water levels that exceeded the recommended level. >> what's next?
