oil. engineers are using a crane on the surface and a robot submarine to guide the four- story dome as it sinks 5,000 feet to the floor. >> i think the trick is going to be like going over the hole. that's like looking for a neetsz in -- neetsz in a -- needle in a haystack. >> reporter: the water temperature is only 42 degrees. so a potentially volatile combination of methanol and water must be used to keep the oil pipes from clogging. the slick has reportedly reached the shore of louisiana's coastal islands and is creeping toward florida. it's already spread into the mississippi delta, despite a major cleanup operation. >> more than 10,000 personnel are currently here in the gulf region responding, in order to protect the shoreline and wildlife. >> reporter: even if the oil doesn't reach the louisiana coastline, environmentalists say the damage is done. >> young crabs, young shrimp. young oysters, even. and then, of course, you got all of the birds. >> reporter: tox comtion -- toxicologist ricky kotsays this could be a major hit. >> we're losing the oil because the oil is in the water column. and right now, it's killing things that we can't see. little baby eggs, larvae, embryos. juvenile fish. >> and be we -- we may not know the full impact for years to come. >> offshore, birds are diving into the water, but none of them appear to be dying. though numerous dead jellyfish are washing up on shore. an arrest in the connection with a rape of a 15-year-old girl. the new accusations leveled against hall of fame linebacker lawrence taylor. >> reporter: minutes ago, taylor was charged with third- degree rape. he was taken in early this morning. another man is in custody for taking the girls to the hotel and unlawful imprisonment. police say the man told the girl to have sex with taylor. she says when she refused, taylor sexually assaulted her and paid her, which she gave the man. >> all right, jessica, thank you. taylor was a contestant on dancing with the stars last year. he's had several run-ins with the law. tonight, yeardley love's body as her family prepares for the funeral. mike hellgren has new information on her ex-boyfriend who is charged with her murder. >> police are investigating the roles that alcohol and rage may have played in yeardley love's murder. now, according to published reports, her ex, george huguely has a run-in with the family. >> reporter: hundreds remembered yeardley love, the promising young university of virginia lacrosse player from cockeysville with a big heart, who police found dead, her body severely beaten at her off- campus apartment. my hope for yeardley and for you is that her dying inspires an anger. a sense of outrage that no one need ever fear for safety. >> reporter: and while friends are in mourning, police are building their murder case against her ex-boyfriend. star uva lacloss player george huguely from the county. authorities are investigating whether he had been violent to her in the past. >> we had no documented police reports of any of these kinds of behaviors. >> and we're learning more about huguely's past troubles. wjz has reported an officer shot him with a stun gun. he pleaded guilty to resisting arrest during the incident in 2008. and now, published reports detail other disturbing behavior. including how huguely had to be pulled from the ocean in florida, when he jumped in during a heated argument with his dad. in another incident, he was reportedly charged with possession of alcohol by his dad near his family's $2 million mansion. police say huguely admitted shaking love that her head hit the wall. >> he said he was shaking her. and repeatedly, her head is banging the wall. that gives you intentional conduct. i think "pure accident "would be a tough sell her. >> this is enough. what was done to yeardley is the most egregious violation of trust. >> visitation will take place saturday, at the cathedral of mary our queen. >> reporter: she had been scheduled to graduate in just a few weeks. reporting live from towson, wjz eyewitness news. >> her viewing will be held for yeardley love furthermore afternoon and eeping at ruck funeral home in towson. funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. at the cathedral of mary our queen in baltimore. the evidence is mounting that a radical terrorist group is mounting. we are finding out more about what happened just after police arrested that suspect. >> reporter: alleges question the times square bombing suspects for eight hours before reading him his miranda rights. interrogators pressed on whether other attacks were imnant. >> -- imminent. >> if you read a person's miranda rights right away you might lose something. >> during ongoing questioning by federal agents, shahzad has provided useful information. and we will continue to pursue a number of leads as we gather intel intelligence, relating to this attack. >> reporter: investigators believe it is increasingly possible that he receive parole. >> investigators are also trying to piece together shahzad's movements in the days before the failed bombing. they know, for example, that he traveled to manhattan for a dress rehearsal. >> a law enforcement officer says that shahzad drove the nissan pathfinder on april 28th. then, the day of the failed attack, he mistakenly left the getaway car keys in the bomb- laden pathfinder. shahzad had to take the train back to his apartment. when he returned sunday with an extra set of keys for his getaway car, investigators were close to finding shahzad as a suspect. and during that senate hearing today, maryland u.s. senator barbara mikulski raised the issue of the security breakdown at the airport and an out-of-date no-fly list. and amtrak is disrupted in baltimore and washington today, after a train strikes and kills a man in anne arundel county. sky eye chopper 13 is overhead. the accelerator was traveling southbound when an adult male in his 30s was hit. he was prowptioned dead at the -- pronounced dead at the scene. amtrak services now up and running again. baltimore county police say shoppers hit malls in the area are safer now than they had been since 1976. and county councilmember kevin camin had said his was the reason. after the 2005 shotgun robbery and murder. in the four years since the cameras were installed, there have been 175 fewer crimes. he says police are crediting the cameras with helping to solve the three murders. well, our unseasonably mild weather continues outside right now,; when it's warm and sunny in the air. it's very dry. martin boulevard. an overturned vehicle there in the city. an accident at cliff mont in the city. and one at 10 northbound in route 100. and one involving a pedestrian. and gentry court at spa road. meanwhile, as far as delays go, 95 northbound slow from 195 to the beltway. it will set you back about four minutes. then you're looking at delays on the beltway. standard delays. 31 miles an hour. sharon just told you about. this is on eastern boulevard, between martin boulevard and wilson point road in essex, baltimore county, where a trash refuse truck and a car were involved in a collision. and actually, on eastern boulevard in the westbound direction. the garbage truck as you can see, has completely blocked the roadway and blocked the csx traffic. the railway has been stopped along the eastern baltimore county corridor, as the trash truck has not been removed at this time. what you see is baltimore county police cleaning up the accident scene, which is between wilson point and martin boulevard on eastern avenue. now, as bill picks up and moves to the right here, you'll see police are detouring traffic off of eastern boulevard in the westbound direction onto wilson point road. then you're detouring around the scene. so expect delays if you're coming in the east end of town towards the downtown. we'll continue to keep you updated on the situation. back to you. >> being let off. the bus left bangor and was scheduled to stop in boston and new york city. another was sent so the passengers could continue their trip. a scare interrupted flights for about two hours today. several hundred were evacuated and the flights were delayed. killed over a cigarette. it happened in miami, florida, and police say it was caught on tape. this is surveillance video of the man police were looking for. police say it was captured just seconds before he asked for a cigarette then hit a boca boca raton man over the head when he couldn't produce one. that man died at the hospital. police are still searching for the suspect. three college students are recovering from a very narrow escape in atlanta. their decision to go swimming left them requests for help at a dam. >> reporter: students were pulled to safety after a powerful current swept them to the edge of a 30-foot waterfall in roz wel, -- roswell, georgia. >> my heart was pumping. i have never been that scared before in my life. >> it all happened when they tried to swim across a rain- swollen creek. >> next thing you know, we're battling for our life. >> reporter: the teens screamed for help for 20 minutes before a passing jog are heard them and called 911. >> basically, did a little pendulum effect, swung over. and this did it two more times. >> i thank god for them. if it weren't for them, it would have been curtains for all of us. >> after two similar rescues last year, police put up a sign telling people to stay off the dam. as we told you earlier, stocks did a freefall today, losing nearly concerned about the financial turmoil and violent protests in greece. today, the greek parliament approved a bill to receive a $140 billion bailout package from the european union and the ims. but the bill is unpopular among greeks. they believe the bailout will slash salaries and markets. the government says the number of people applying for unemployment benefits fell by 7,000. that is the third straight weekly drop and right in line with economists' expectations. and major retailers from costco to target to the gap, said sales came in below forecasts. retailers say it was hard. there may be some turbulence ahead for united and continental. the two airlines have decided to merge. but a transportation official is asking the justice department to block the deal. he says a merger would not riots in greece leave three people dead, dozens more wounded. and sends the u.s. stock market into a tailspin as charlie d'agata reports, workers by the thousands demonstrated against the government's plan to cut wages and raise taxes to keep that country from going bankrupt. >> freak mourners lay flowers in memory of three bank workers who died in wednesday's riot. protestors fire-bombed their bank in athens. the victims, including a pregnant woman, were unable to escape. greeks condemn those responsible for the deaths. >> they didn't each check to see if there were employees inside the bank, he says. nor did they care. a day after the violent banks and shops in the greek capital state locked up tight. and transportation remained at a standstill. tens of thousands of greeks demonstrated in the capital wednesday, furious at the government's plans to cut their salaries and raise their taxes. what began as a peaceful march turned violent, as protestors threw fire bombs and rocks at police. the police responded with tear gas. dozens were injured. the greek government said it has no plans of backing down on the unpopular wage cuts, despite the widespread unrest. and the threat of more to come. officials say it's the only way to keep greece from going completely bankrupt. if that happens, it could push other european countries into a similar crisis. but demonstrators are planning more protests, and police are bracing for the worst. greek leaders say no amount of financial sacrifice justifies scenes like these. in london, charlie d'agata, wjz eyewitness news. >> mumbai attack that killed two marylanders, is sentenced to death. and kai has the latest. >> reporter: an indian court found 24-year-old aj mad humid guilty for the attack. 166 people were killed, including 53-year-old allen shearer and his 13-year-old daughter naomi from baltimore. they were in india on a meditation trip. casalb was caught on video, storming a train station. he was found guilty of murder and waging war. >> he is the only surviving gunman left from those attacks. in today's wjz healthwatch, this year marks the 50th anniversary of the pill. dr. kim mull vil reports -- to make small amounts of testosterone. and those birth control pills may slow the flow. >> two other factors negatively affect sexual desire. too much stress and too little satisfaction with the relationship. we have more on the connection of a washington, d.c. principal. they are all 18. and had been under d.c. youth rehabilitation services supervision but were unaccounted for. two of the three also spent time at a local juvenile detention center. betts was found hot to death. a bicyclist remains in critical condition tonight at shock trauma, after being hit by a pickup truck on bel air road this week. as suzanne collins reports, accidents like that in baltimore county are way up. during the busy rush hour tuesday, citizens tried to help the man lying on bel air road, who had just been struck by a pickup truck. police didn't know his name and wjz aired his photo at their request, as he remained in critical condition at shock trauma. neighbors recognized him as a french citizen staying here. and now french police are alerting his family. >> the driver of that truck did stop and assisted the gentleman and called 911. >> pedestrian accidents, especially fatal ones are way up in baltimore county. they involve bicyclists, joggers and people on foot. from 2006 through 2008, an average of 15 people were killed. last year, that rose to 19. in the first four months of this year already, eight have died. and if that rate conditions, there could be 24 deaths before year's end. >> what we're finding is, of those accidents that involve a pedestrian, that generally, the pedestrian is at fault. >> the police report shows the truck driver in tuesday's crash may not be at fault. >> police say the bicyclist didn't have a helmet on. and they believe he was riding in the middle of the lane. they also say the driver probably had a blind spot when he came over the hill. >> reporter: a group promoting bicycling says its riders must observe traffic rules. but it wants drivers to know of a new law. >> drivers need to know to give cyclists three feet when passing, which is a safe passing distance. >> because of the rising numbers of fatals, police have been out, citing pedestrian who violate traffic laws. certainly, both the penal code and the motor vehicle operator have a responsibility here. >> reporter: in two bike fatalities in the county this year, they were outside the beltway on rural roads without sidewalks. back to you. >> thank you, suzanne. the county is also working to engineer its roadways to accommodate both forms. we're going to go to captain mike perry in sky eye chopper 13. mike? >> hello, denise. harford county officials have received a call of a possible body seen floating in the susquehanna river. this all occurred at the glen co marina, which is about a mile north of the conowingo dam. harford county fire officials and natural resources police have been searching for about the past 45 minutes to an hour. and so far have not been able to locate anything. apparently a boater in the vicinity of the glencoe marina saw what they thought was a body floating. officials continue to search. as of this point, we have not found anything. we'll continue to keep you updated. >> thank you, captain mike perry, in sky eye chopper 13. eye new study says nighttime driving for teenagers has become more dangerous than talking and texting on the cell phone. >> in a report released today, nighttime crashes involving teens have gone up. researchers say the portion of fatal nighttime crashes nationwide involving 16 to 19 increased 19%. researchers say driving at night is dangerous. but combining that with using a cell phone is a recipe for disaster. denise, back to you. >> thank you, mary. the percentage of fatal nighttime crashes, involving drivers 20 years and older, also rose nearly 8%. we have had today, beautiful weather. warmer than normal, i guess. but who would complain? bob is here first with the updated that one in the southbound lanes, blocking the right lane, overturned vehicle there, with a backup to 32. crash on 295 northbound at nursery road. blocking the left lane with the backup there at 95. arrest now on the beltway. top side outer loop. another in randallstown. old court at liberty road. a new one in nottingham. bel air in rossville. and a new one in annapolis, on forest drive at annapolis. that one involving a bus. meanwhile, 70 eastbound jammed due to an earlier accident. there's a look at your beltway, drive times and speeds in the 20s and 30s. the slowest spot now, the top side inner loop between 83 and 95. there's a look at 95. you'll tap your brakes to the right. there's a look at the northwest side of the beltway, at green spring avenue. and a look at 97, where 228 people on board. fire investigators say an overheated electrical box is to blame for a fatal seven-alarm fire in chinatown last month. the april 11th blaze killed one person and left 200 temporarily homeless. firefire marshaled that sparks from an electrical box sparked it. again, that was in new york. an amateur filmmaker is now taking the blame after new york police officers were frighteningly real. guns drawn and hostages on the floor. >> that's you. that's me. >> reporter: this was a phony holdup for a robbery scene. the store's owner was told he could play himself. so he closed up shop. >> so if somebody saw this, they might think it's real. >> because they might think that it was real. >> peering in was a woman who thought just that. she called 911. and the drama turned from make- believe to terrifying reality. close to 2 dozen officers. you can see the officer saying to the actor, drop the gun. the actor complies. >> they think auto real. >> he is glad police showed restraint. >> i don't want to see the blood in my place. >> police and neighbors are angry that there was no warning in advance. >> that's a scary thing. if you see cops in there and guns. you would run. >> would you think it was a movie? >> no. >> reporter: because filming was interrupted, there will be reshoots in about two weeks, with a permit, and with a sign to this door, letting people know, not to panic, it's only a movie. >> nasa police are considering suing director fred carpenter, for dispatching officers to the fake holdup scene, making a low- budget film very pricey,
