Forces caught up with him, capturing the Libyan National in broad daylight. And u. S. Navy seals went after a senior alshabaab leader in a predawn raid. The pentagon would only say there were some casualties and no americans were killed. The Shabaab Group claimed responsibility for a nairobi Shopping Mall attack two weeks ago. A pentagon Spokesman Says no other details are being revealed as of now on that raid. Its day 5 of the Government Shutdown and theres no end in sight. But hundreds of thousands of federal employees are being told to go back to work. Defense secretary chuck hagel says he can legally bring back the department of defense employees. As for the rest of the workers, the house unanimously passed legislation to give furloughed employees pay once the shutdown is over. There is still no deal to restart the government. And we know turn to rochelle ritchie, live with more on the navy game that was held despite the shutdown and how its affecting annapolis. Reporter a lot of people thought this game was going to remain postponed or even cancelled. But a lastminute approval by the department of defense kept the game going. Cheers of the United States Naval Academy as the midshipmen take on the falcons in a highly anticipated game. It brings a lot of good to a lot of things, people thats been down, that hasnt been going to work or anything. Reporter but the game was almost a nogo. This whole shutdown is ludicrous. Reporter all navy sports were left in limbo on october 1, but some remained confident the show would go on as scheduled. He said, i guarantee you that game is going to be played. Reporter there are still some services not available at the academy because of the shutdown. For instance, midshipmen are unable to check out books at the library and attend labs such as chemistry, physics and engineer. And still, no paychecks for federal employees. Honestly, i think its slightly perverse in my opinion. We have the professionals and the civilian staff and theyre not working, but somehow theres money available for a game. Yeah, everyone loves the game and everything, but it just the priorities seem out of whack. Reporter the game does have economic benefits for local businesses. They are hoping it will make up for money lost since the shutdown. Honestly, if people arent getting paid, going out and entertaining usually goes first. Hospital Officials Say his burns were so severe, theyll have to use dna and dental records to identify him. Police say he poured a can of gasoline on himself, then set himself on fire. Investigators are now looking into possible motives. Parts of Southeast Louisiana are bearing down in preparation for tropical depression karen. The storm just recently downgraded. Its off the gulf, heading for land. Several areas are under a mandatory evacuation. So far, theyve seen wind and rain, but conditions are expected to worsen. According to the National Weather service, Tropical Storm karen weakened as it moved over the gulf of mexico. Meanwhile, here in baltimore, skies are clear and its very warm for october. Its going to be pushing into the southeastern portion of louisiana late this evening, early tonight. Heres a look at the current model. A total of 150 residents were evacuated. Fire Officials Say there was a malfunction in the buildings backup generator. Loved ones say goodbye to a woman killed last week in a fiery crash involving city police. The family still has a lot of questions. Reporter family and friends of Angel Chiwengo gathered saturday morning at Northside Church in North Baltimore to lay her to rest. The 46yearold was one of three People Killed last tuesday in a fiery crash on york and northern. My family is completely devastated, completely torn. Reporter nathan franklin, chiwengos brotherinlaw, spoke with wjz on behalf of the family. The support from the community was overwhelming, the local churches, businesses. Reporter but franklin says the family still has a lot of questions about the fatal crash. It happened after two suspects fled from the Baltimore City police and slammed into another car. The family wants to know if the officers following the suspects broke the departments nochase policy. Theres some issues that i have concern with overall with the incident that took place out there. Kind of disturbing. Reporter he said the investigation into the crash was ongoing. But for chiwengos loved ones, thats not good enough. We want something to be done about this type of behavior from the police department. And were going to get more answers when they come out, but we want change. We want something to be done about this. Reporter the driver of the jeep was the only survivor. We did call police for a comment. They say a plan is in the works for a commissioner to meet with the family. Baltimores statue of liberty is getting a new home. Lady baltimore was placed in a cage for safekeeping, then lowered. The statue will now sit in the Maryland Historical society. A replica will be put in her place that can better with stand the elements. The home of Edgar Allan Poe shut its doors last year for renovations. But this weekend, visitors got a sneak peek at the national treasure. As gigi barnett explains, the opening of the house come as readers mark the anniversary of poes death. Reporter two bedrooms, no bathrooms, and a small kitchen. The Edgar Allan Poe and museum on amity street in baltimore needed some upgrades. Now, after a sixmonth 80,000 renovation, the work is done. This is the oldest house where we know for sure that he lived, that he wrote. Reporter kristin is the president of poe baltimore, the Nonprofit Group that operates and restored the house. She says the upgrades to the home highlight the writers life in baltimore. Its not just about poe in this house. Its about Edgar Allan Poe in baltimore. Its about his broader legacy. Thats the mission of poe baltimore. Reporter poe lived in the house between 1833 and 1835. Its owned by the city and almost 200 years old. Getting a sneak peek during the month that poe died was a must for longtime fans. I think its more about the mood. Were gonna see if theyve captured the mood of the time period and of the works so that potentially we can get that from going inside. Reporter the poe house has been closed for at least one year and one week. This month is the only time that visitors can get in and see the house before it closes for the winter. They joined a third officer, who reportedly didnt try to stop the fight because he was under cover. Three bikers are charged in connection to the incident. It ended with the beating of an suv driver after he ran over a biker. A big rig veers off a freeway and crashes into a california car dealership, setting off a fiery blaze. The fire damaged more than a dozen cars. Crews were able to quickly contain the fire. Its unclear if strong winds played any role in the crash. The truck driver was taken to the hospital. The extent of his injuries are unknown. The family of a woman shot by police after she tried to break through a white house barricade is speaking out. Miriam carey was shot by police after leading them on a wild chase. Her family is now saying they want to launch their own investigation. They felt that there was some particular threat. Miriam was not firing any shots. There were no weapons. So were still very confused as to why shes not alive. Valerie, Miriam Careys sister, is a retired police officer. She said police should not have used deadly force. Miriams 19monthold daughter was in the car at the time of the chase and shooting. Breast cancer researchers release positive new findings. They say simply exercising an hour a day could drastically reduce the risk of getting cancer. Mary bubala has more on this study. Reporter friends mary and merlin go walking every day. It could help lower their risk of Breast Cancer. Its such a healing, stress reducing thing to do. Reporter a new study from the American Cancer Society finds postmenopausal women whose only exercise is walking an hour a day still reduces their chance of getting Breast Cancer by 14 . Theyre walking at a moderate pace, about three miles an hour. Reporter women who engage in more vigorous exercise lower the risk even more, 25 . We know that physical activity is associated with sex hormones that we know to be important in Breast Cancer. Reporter current guidelines recommend adults do at least two and a half hours of moderate exercise or 75 minutes of vigorous activity per week. But studies show less than half of u. S. Women do even that much. 68yearold merlin, whose mother and sister both had Breast Cancer, says keeping fit is a big part of her life. I cant do what i used to, but i can still do almost everything. Reporter it doesnt have to be a marathon. A leisurely walk can still make a difference. The study followed women for 17 years. Im mary bubala. Back to you. And, again, as mary just said, that study followed over 17,000 women for 17 years. A young driver is in hot water after her pink barbie jeep is improperly parked. Witnesses say the junior driver got distracted by friends. Officers slapped a bright orange ticket right on the dash. Lets get right to the maps. Heres a look across the region. Weve got a temperature difference from western maryland all the way over to the rest of the state. 70ss from haigers town east. Temperatures in bel air right around 69 to lower 70s across the way. Winds coming out of the south continue to pull in the warmer air. Thats going to be the case for us as we head into sunday as well. Starting on monday and even more so on tuesday, thats when things really will change, and this is why. The big picture showing High Pressure in control right now. We saw a few showers and thunderstorms just north of the Mason Dickson earlier. Weve got a cool front headed our way. This is going to be just a rain event, but it is going to combine with some of that moisture from what is now tropical depression karen, because that moisture is going to feed right into the mid atlantic and thats going to work along with that cold front thats going to pass through. Its going to help to enhance the amount of rainfall well see. Well see anywhere from about one to three inches in some spots in the midatlantic. But for sunday, that rain is going to hold off, at least for the bulk of the day. We could see a few scattered showers as we head into the latter part of the day, but definitely more in the way of at least cloud cover. Heres how things are going to play out heading into monday. The cold front is going to pass through later on monday. Its going to bring us rainfall, with the heaviest probably getting into the area about monday afternoon and evening, sticking around through the overnight. Now, by tuesday, things should start to clear out right after the morning, and well be drying out as well, if the model is verified. Your bay temperature at 70 degrees. This is what our high will be as we head into your tuesday, wednesday and thursday, or at least in the lower 70s.
