life in prison for sexually abusing 10 boys. the jury just learned a verdict in the last hour. >> reporter: the crowd of residents gathered here outside the courthouse celebrated when they heard the news. jerry sandusky guilty of more than 45 counts. sandusky had no visible reaction in court. his bail was revoked and he was taken into custody. jerry sandusky was led away from court in handcuffs after being found guilty of 45 counts in his child sex abuse trial. the crowd outside the courthouse cheered as the verdicts became known just after 10:00 p.m. on the second day of jury deliberations. sandusky's attorney said he was not surprised. >> it was the expected outcome. because of the overwhelming amount of evidence against jerry sandusky. >> reporter: the former penn state assistant former head coach was accused of molestic 10 boys. the boys testified that they met sandusky through the second mile. eight accusers took the stand, describing in graphic detail how the abuse started with gifts but progressed to fondling, oral sex or rape. sandusky denyed the charges but he never took the stand in his own defense. instead his attorney tried to discredit investigators and suggested the accusers were lying. the defense also brought to the stand dottie sandusky's wife. the prosecution also called mcqueary to the stand. he will likely spend the rest of his life in prison. sandusky's family is said to be devastated. his attorney is promising an appeal. live in belfont, pennsylvania, i'm man well gallegus. here's the latest on tonight's verdict. jerry sandusky was found guilty on 45 of 48 counts of child abuse. he was immediately taking into custody. sandusky faces a maximum of 142 years many prison. sandusky's lawyer has promised to appeal the verdict. we'll keep investigating child abuse claims but instead he moved accused priests to different parishes. >> there's no apology that could heal the wounds these children suffered. there are no words that truly express how sorry we should all be for what happened to them. >> reporter: lin's lawyers argued that the priest reported the accusations to his bosses. he faces up to seven years in prison. a fight over religious freedom is brewing in the catholic church here in baltimore and across the country. the church is getting ready to take on the obama administration over controversial same-sex issues. i s sues not all catholics want to mix politics and church. >> reporter: at the helm of the political movement is baltimore's new arch bishop lori. he's spear heading the opposition that mandate catholic institutions that threat the parishes. >> the mandates sort of put our work on steroids or kind of really engaged us, it galvanized us. >> reporter: fourth night for freedom is a call for prayer. but catholic protesting outside say the church is turning parishners up. >> young catholics are giving up the faith because they're seeing the church is being led by politicians not religious leaders. >> what kind of a country would it be if those who believed in their people of faith were shut out of the political process. then we could not advocate for justice and peace. >> reporter: the baltimore arch archdiocese and other religious institutions have filed several lawsuits challenging the president's mandate. mary bubala, wyz. a majority of catholic women use birth control. an out of control suv slams into a kiddie pool injuring six people. it started when two vehicles crashed. one of the suvs plowed through a fence, and ran right through the pool. four kids in that pool were hurt. three other people in the vehicles were treat for minor injuries. nine dead, 80 injured, three years ago today marks the worse accident in the history of the metro dc system. alex demetrick shows us how it the somber anniversary was remembered. >> this is my baby, my cousin right here. >> reporter: one of nine people killed when two dc metro rail trains collided. a faulty track senator stopped one train but allowed a second to keep moving. despite the engineer hitting the emergency break, the crash injured many. >> i'm pretty sure they're working on it. hopefully it'll get better. >> reporter: and it has been, eight in 15 legislations have been enacted including train procedures, a doubling of safety staff and upgraded safety modules. but safety improvements in place are not the only improvements needed. stronger train cars designed for crashes are still in order. or parts of breaking falling off are fresh worries. >> those events are very significant. metro needs to pay attention to them because those are warning signs. >> reporter: for metro and its riders. those stronger railcars are going to cost metro over $700 million, 300 of them are expected to arrive by the end of the 2013, kai. >> thank you. according to the ntsb metro's challenge is going from building a 106-mile system to maintaining one that's aging. an anne anne arundel county man accused of impersonating an officer. he told the cop he's a military officer from louisiana. he tried escaping but police eventually arrested him. it's a crime that shocked the community. a man murdered then his killer confesses to eating some of the victim's organs. monique griego tells us about a memorial for the victim. >> reporter: the community hopes to raise enough money to return the victim to his family in ghana. >> reporter: it left his family and friends devastated. >> it's very, very sad that this happened. nobody could have seen this coming. >> reporter: thomas mora was not only coda's friend he knew alexander kenue, a morgan state student now widely known as the maryland cannibal. police say he admitted to dismembering and eating codi who was his roommate. the horrific crime occurred in hartford county. >> this is something you see in a movie, horror movie not people you know, that you've spoken with. >> reporter: codi was from ghana. tomorrow morning community members will hold a memorial in codi's honor. the memorial will be held here at all nation's gospel church. cujo's friends hope by bringing people together they'll be able to raise the enough money to return him to his family in ghana and pay for funeral services there. >> we want them to know that we're doing everything we can for him. >> reporter: and thomas is still coming to grips with what happened, he's now focused on giving his friend the burial he deserves. >> he became part of the community and that's why it's so important, so important that to get together and do for him. >> reporter: the 30-cents, and baltimore went from $3.64 a gallon to $3.34. regina abelero says the recent predictions in drop in gas prices are slowly due to crude oil prices going down. >> we've seen them consistently drop over the last few weeks. trading in the 80 to $85 a barrel range. prices at the pump are expected to drop everyone lower by the fourth of july. just in time for the nearly 40 million americans expected to hit the road. >> typically see gas prices go up right around the holiday season but we have seen them decline actually as we were approaching the memorial day holiday weekend. >> reporter: gas prices below $3 a gallon sounds good but they'll believe it when they see it. >> i would love to see that happen, god knows i would. >> reporter: the drop in prices could have an impact on consumer spending and the presidential election. an 81-year-old man lost his wallet in new hampshire in 1944. he says he forgot about it until a stranger mailed it to his house. the wallet was
