. this is wjztv, wjzhd baltimore. from the city to the counties to your neighborhood. now it's complete coverage, it's wjz, maryland's news station. city scandal, emt reports the skids are cheating on their tests. and what's being done about it. there are serious questions surrounding the baltimore fire department after students are caught cheating on their tests. explains it's a scandal that could put your safety in jeopardy. >> tonight all ems training at the fire academy has been temporarily suspended by the fire chief who calls this a serious mistake by a few that tarnishes the reputation of hundreds of men and women in his department. when lives are on the line, knowledge matters. that's why fire paramedics must pass state testing. but a state agency found what amounts to cheating. they say a recent class of about 20 baltimore city cadets had a copy of the test in advance. >> from what i understand they had taken the test already and one of the state examiners found a test, supposed to have been a confidential test out in the open and from there they launched an investigation. >> reporter: the testing took place in northwest baltimore. the chief says he does not know whether cadets or instructors were to blame. in fact the office is already conducting a full investigation during which all ems training has temporarily been suspended. mayor troubled by the allegations. >> cheating from any city worker will not be tolerated and it's unbecoming a member of our fire department. i support the chief suspending training while we do this investigation. >> we want to make sure they can pass any test the state wants to give us. we're certainly going to do that. >> reporter: none of the cadets involved have been put out on the streets yet. meanwhile the city says their investigation will take up to two weeks. the president of the firefighters union had no comment for this story. derrick, thank you. the festing for -- testing for paramedics is overseen by the emergency. surrounding those infamous calls -- accused of trying to keep african american voters from going to the polls. both pleaded not guilty. >> was there in any way an effort to discredit african american voters?
