crashed in kentucky. the plane was headed from fredricks to mississippi when it went down tonight. it is believed two people were on board but that is not yet confirmed and we do not know if anyone survived. we'll have more as soon as it becomes available. now to our other big story. governor o' malley launched his run for reelection and spoke only to wjz. >> reporter: tonight governor o' malley revealed part of his reelection valley. >> it wouldn't be an announcement today if i didn't come home. >> reporter: governor martin ommaley begins the trail kick off by speaking at his hometown. >> we've been in baltimore city, prince george's county. southern maryland and now here in montgomery county where i group up so it's been a great day. >> reporter: that launch earlier in the day in cells point had o' malley surrounded by family and supporters. >> i run for office to move maryland forward. >> reporter: that indirect jack of robert urlich is just the latest punch. >> we're taking big hits and we're trying to determine who's going to support us the best in the upcoming decision. >> do you think it might be o'malley? >> i think it will be o'malley, i'm hoping so. >> there's nothing as important as a job and that's what we are going to generate as marylanders. that's what's going to take us out of this recession. >> reporter: governor urlich layed pretty low today. he put out a brief statement welcoming o'malley. new at 11:00, a murder not far from layola's campus. a man in his 20s was shot down. he was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. police are searching for the gunman at this hour. a fire truck collides with an suv while heading to an emergency. the driver of that suv had to be rescued from his crushed vehicle. he was taken to shock trauma. his condition is unknown. the accident now is under investigation. a baltimore third grader threatened to jump out of a classroom window is pushed by bullying. kelly mcpherson explains why the administration is being accused of ignoring the problem. >> reporter: shania and her mother came forward about this abuse, spoke about it publicly then all of a sudden some other third graders came forward saying they too had been bullied. now the administration is trying to clean up the problem. eight-year-old shania boyd came forward saying she had been bullied for two years after having surgery. one day it was too much, telling an administrator that she wanted to jump out of a window. >> two little girls were bullying her, while they were picking on her, a little boy kick her in the head. >> reporter: administrators say teachers had reported the problem, but school leaders weren't reacting. 17 elementary students had been suspended for bullying or fighting at gilmore this year. during this week's investigation, three students have been suspended for less than three days. shania's mother says this isn't enough. >> because my child opened up and said something, other kids have opened up and said things. so it's note a coincidence. and it's not something that just happens, so they need to go and figure out why, why is all this happening. >> reporter: bullying is a growing issue across the country. massachusetts students are going through the court system for bullying a girl so viciously that prosecutors say the girl killed herself. >> it's important for all adults whether they be school, teachers, or administrators as well as parents and people who care about kids just to make sure we are having conversations with young people, letting them know that it is not acceptable to bully. >> reporter: shania switched to hudson hughes elementary and is finally enjoying learning. >> it is not fair for anyone to have to go through this with their child. >> reporter: kelly mcpherson, wjz news. >> the principal is talking to each level to talk about proper school behavior. scott young turned over a check to pay a controversial loan for his sister. the money was used to buy a house in east baltimore, young moved in after his sister moved out. the city solicitor says young did nothing wrong. outrage on capitol hill today, senators grilled goldman sachs executives over claims they lied to investors and convinced them to make investments they knew were destined to fail. >> you're selling this [ bleep ] deal and it's your main priority >> we believe we matched our risk as shareholders would expect. >> reporter: goldman sachs is accused of telling investors to invest in the plastic investments. the new stanley black and decker is making what's being called it's first round of job cuts. our media partner the baltimore sun reporting 37 workers are being laid off this weekend. 250 people are expected eventually to be layed off in the region. but there is some good news on the job front tonight, new jobs are heading to howard county. the baltimore sun is reporting health insurer kaiser permanente is supposed to open a new center. a woman crossing a busy intersection is hit but manages to push her baby out of the way. >> reporter: little darling omero playing with his dad. as they crossed this intersection of philadelphia road, the entrance to the beltway and to the golden shopping center. they were trying to get to the bus stop when police say the truck hit her, she died a few hours later. now baltimore county council chairman john osheski tells wjz he is writing letters to see what can be done to make it safer. >> they can look at ways even if they can to move the bus stop back to try to get pedestrians further from the street. >> reporter: wjz cameras caught several people running to catch the bus across lanes of traffic. >> if god kills me, he kills me. >> it looks like i'm putting my life on the line crossing these streets. >> do you feel like you put your life on the line here? that he had a fake passport and was carrying explosives in his luggage. the plane landed safely in bangor, there's no word tonight on the man's motives. hagan says he was one of three men who gunned down malcolm x 45 years ago. hagan says the two men convicted with limb were not the two men involved and those men were paroled in the 1980s. hagan and the two men decided to kill him because they were upset with malcolm x. a late night explosion sends an entire family to the emergency room. the explosion rocked a laurel delaware neighborhood. the family had just moved into the home earlier in the day. everyone survived the explosion, investigators say it may have been triggered by a gas leak. a mystery grows tonight, someone called 911 saying the boat was taken on water. three days later and there's still no word on that boat or passenger. with one radio call for help, a quiet saturday morning took an alarming turn. >> what's your position? >> i'm in the middle of the river. i got three kids on board, 42, i'm 45 and the boat is taking on water. >> reporter: the boat said he was in 28-foot water boat and it was taking on water. he said that he could see the marina restaurant. >> i'm . soon after radio communication went sigh silent. within 10 minutes of that call, a commercial boat was in the area, they found nothing. by 40 minutes, u.s. coast guard boats like this one were scouring the area. >> so our thought was that we had four people in the water. >> reporter: lieutenant zager coordinated the water search, but after 40 minutes no one was found. and more puzzling, no reports of anyone missing. so the search was called off. >> that's why it's so important that if you do report a distress, that and you recover from and you don't need coast guard assistance, that you relay that back to the coast guard and let us know. >> reporter: prank calls do happen, in 2006, the coast guard labeled 15% of their distressed calls hoaxes. but until now, they say this call was not one of them. while the coast guard says they do not think this was a prank, they do not know what happened. if it turns out the call was a prank, the perpetrators may have to pay a $250,000 fine or spend up to two years in prison. kitty kelly, the author who wrote the book about oprah winfrey, spent some time here tonight. the book included the time oprah winfrey worked for wjz's people talking.
