[ laughter ] its like the wednesday of the week. Its not that important really. You know, normally, on monday nights we have the bachelorette here on abc, but not tonight. Tonight, fans of the bachelorette will be shocked when they turn their tvs on and see more than one africanamerican man on it. [ laughter ] but in a way, the nba finals are a little bit like the bachelorette. Its a bunch of muscular guys shoving each other on tv so they can get a raise. [ laughter ] the warriors got off to a strong start in the series, but the cavaliers didnt give up. In game three, they finally figured out a way to slow down allstar forward, Draymond Green and when you slow down Draymond Green, well, you get this they came out and played like a team with a sense of desperation, like their seasons on the line. And we came out and, played like everything was peaches and cream. [ laughter ] jimmy terrific. [ cheers and applause ] whether whether he wins another championship or not, lebron james is doing well for himself. According to forbes magazine, lebron is the highest paid player in American Sports and the thirdhighest paid athlete in the world. He made 77 million last year, behind two soccer players. The highest paid athlete in the world is cristiano ronaldo, who plays for real madrid and portugal. He raked in 88 million in one year. And i dont know soccer, but i do know gorgeous, and i say, pay that man whatever he wants. [ cheers and applause ] i mean, really. But lebron is number one in the united states. By the way, the cavaliers got a big boost of support this week from lil wayne, who is apparently such a big lebron james fan, he recorded a inspire the team. The song is called, off, off, off and the lyrics are all about the cavaliers or it could be about chandeliers. Ill be honest, i cant understand a word lil wayne says, but [ laughter ] i think thats nice. From the hotly anticipated disney pixar movie, finding dory, ellen degeneres, ed oneill, ty burrell, albert brooks, eugene levy and Kaitlin Olson are all here. The longest ive ever been able to keep a fish alive in six days. [ laughter ] finding dory will almost certainly be an enormous summer blockbuster. It is the story of one very innocent fishs journey to find her mom and dad. And, tonight, we thought it would be fun to combine it with another story about finding your parents. So, we took the video, the part you see from findin from the maury povich show. And this is how great mashups are born. Our first guest tonight is a beloved entertainer on both land and in sea. She returns to delight fish aficionados all around the world. Finding dory opens in theaters friday. Please welcome ellen degeneres. [ cheers and applause ] jimmy how are you . Very good to see you. You literally had trouble finding the dory there. I, uh, yeah. I did. Jimmy has this been something youve been wanting to do, a sequel to finding nemo . I cant believe its been so long. I never asked for it or anything. It was was sprung upon me 13 years later. [ laughter ] yeah, i kind of, after the first one was so successful, i mean, it won an Academy Award and all that, so, youd think that there would be a sequel, because there was toy story 1, 2 and 3 and lots of other things i could waste time talking about. Jimmy yeah. So, i just kept saying, you know, whens the sequel going to happen . And it just never came and so, thank god i had a talk show because we wouldnt be sitting here right now. If i hadnt been on the talk show every day talking about making a sequel, they wouldnt have done it. No one would have thought of it. Jimmy you bullied them into it. I bullied them into it. Jimmy well, its a good thing you have the summer off to promote the movie. I know, i have the summer off and youre still working, arent you . [ laughter ] jimmy yes, yes i am. Thank you for mentioning that. Yeah. Jimmy we have this discussion pretty much every summer. Yeah, yeah. You have a different thing. You, youre off like a couple of weeks or one week every so often, right . Jimmy yeah, like once every 18 weeks they give us the weekend off and then we come right back to work. No, no, no. Two weeks in a row off . Jimmy we, in the summer, we have two weeks in a row off. The rest of the time, its one week in a row. Yeah, yeah. No, we dont have any time off until the summer. I have kind of like School Teacher hours. Jimmy gotcha. So, then i have the whole summer off, but now im doing this, so, i dont really have it off. [ laughter ] but i had two weeks off and i thought, oh, my god, thats so great. Im going i had plans, you know, to do jimmy whatd you do . Well, i havent done anything. Jimmy oh. [ laughter ] i wanted to. I was going garden, because i thought, ive never really gotten into that. But it seems like it would be relaxes, and i have land, and why not garden, because thats so, i got the apron and the tools and little belt and the, you know how you have a, its like a little thing you can keep all the things in . Jimmy i have one, yeah. I bet you do. Jimmy i do. Because you actually do garden. Jimmy yeah, well, yeah i get out there. What do you grow . Jimmy everything. I grow herbs. I grow vegetables. Yeah. All sorts of things. Jimmy im a little farmer. Yeah. I know, you are. You actually jimmy what do you grow . What do you grow . Well, i have mint. Jimmy oh, mint, okay. Yeah, yeah. So, i can do a julep. I can do a mojito, because thats prolific, that mint. And, i mean, so but it was a lot to plant the mint. And then, i go to the store and its like 12 cents for a whole bundle of it, and im like jimmy for mint. [ laughter ] why am i doing that . Jimmy so youre growing cocktails your garden . It appears thats what im growing, yes. [ laughter ] i have a lot of mint. And then, but then i thought, you know what . I dont read and i should read more often, and so, i have time off jimmy oh, you brought a photograph here yeah. Jimmy should i hold this up . You can. I mean, heres what happened. Well, thats Jonathon Safran foers brand new book, its not out yet. Let me just, first of all, back. Jimmy yeah, sorry. So, before you so, business going to read the fountain head, because i had never read it, and i thought, i should read that. Thats an important book, apparently people say. So, but it was like 600 pages 400 pages. Jimmy right. And i was like, oh, thats intimidating, so i was, like, two pages in. Its good, but then Jonathon Safran foer sends me an advanced copy, which is lovely. Author and its advanced. 600 pages and that comes and im like, well, now im not going to read the fountain head. [ laughter ] or that. [ laughter ] like, who is going to jimmy you got psyched out. [ cheers and applause ] so, just put my mint in my drink and im going to jimmy yeah. I watched it with my daughter over the weekend and she really loved it. What do, you two are the two original voices from the first movie. Albert, what do you remember most what do you what do you think of when you think about that first movie experience before it became this huge phenomenon . My son was almost 4. So, at the premiere, where were having it same finding do dory jimmy right. The el capitan. You know, if you remember the beginning that fish comes and kills the mother and all the children. Jimmy right. And he wasnt completely clear on if he was nemo. [ laughs ] because, you know, im marlin, and jimmy right. He still had that anamorphic disease, and and so, he ran out of the theater in, like, literally in the first four minutes. And you know, its always a bad feeling when anyone runs out of the theater. Jimmy yeah. And i ran after him and im trying to have a philosophical, god discussion with him in the lobby. No, were humans, but our voices are the fish and so, now, hes 8. Jimmy it makes less sense when you explain it. Yeah, yeah. No, it was a terrible experience. Thats what really set him off. I havent seen him since. [ laughter ] but he hes 18 and im excited, because now, if he runs out in the first three minutes, jimmy specifically youve done something horrible. Kaitlin, your kids how old are your children . Theyre 4 and 5, two little boys. Jimmy oh, so thats right in the will they understand that mommy is a whale shark . Yeah, the older one does. The older one gets it now. But he was, like, 2, when i took him to the lorax because danny devito was on my show. Sand i was like, you have to look out for the lorax because thats danny devito and he just was like, thats the lorax. And i was like, no, i know, but like the voice plays, same thing. Jimmy kids are stupid, you know . Theyre so stupid. And i got so mad at him, and i was like, if you cant watch this movie, and get what im talking about, then leave. And he stayed in the lobby the whole time. Jimmy ty, have your daughters seen the movie . They saw it. I didnt actually understand well, i didnt actually think that they knew what kind of just going back to how stupid kids are. Jimmy right. Right, lets do that. Something really is wrong. Terribly wrong. So i kept sort of i was sort of wanting to earn points with them. And ive been telling them at every opportunity that im in finding dory and they dont seem it doesnt really seem to register with them, so, i keep doubling down. I kept going, like, theres a commercial, thats the movie that daddys in. Nothing, theyre sort of like, meh. And then, i went to my youngest Daughters School and the teacher was like, ah, so, youre in finding dory. And i was like, yeah. And youre playing bailey the beluga whale. Yeah. And he was, like, an issue with his sonar . And i was like, yeah, did you read an article . No, gret as been telling us all about it. Jimmy oh. Awe. And i realized that ive basically bullied my daughter into being my agent. Im just imagining her sort of, like, going to school going, like, so, this is really important for my dad that i tell you hes in a movie, hes playing a whale. Jimmy well, you should be very ashamed of yourself, ty. Yeah. Ung kids but do you have t have grandkids or like nieces and nephews that are going to this . No. [ laughter ] no. I know no children. [ laughter ] i have no children. I dont know any kids. On purpose. Honestly, i had so many tickets i had to give away because that was part of the plea deal. [ laughter ] no children in the forecast. Jimmy no neighbors, nothing . No grandchildren, no i dont even have neighbors with kids. [ laughter ] jimmy ed, how did you get involved in this . You play a friendly but grumpy octopus, right . Not really very friendly. Jimmy little bit. But grumpy, yeah. Jimmy yeah. You getting a lot of grumpy calls . Like hey, theres something grumpy, wheres ed . [ laughter ] i dont know why. No, i got a call from my manager, mark gervitz, who you know. Jimmy yeah. And he said they want you to play an octopus on dory. And i said well okay, thats pixar. Yeah. I said well, okay, can i see the script . Theres no script. I said well, can i see sides, anything . Theres nothing. So, im assuming its a cameo. Jimmy uhhuh. And i said, well, why should i do something, mark, when i dont even know what it is . He said, its pixar. So, i did it, and i thought it business a cameo. Jimmy yeah, right . You know, four hour session and it doesnt seem to end. You know and then, in three months well get you back, i came back another one. Because its three ow. A weve been working for three years to do this. Jimmy yeah. Can i just say, id fire the manager. Jimmy dont fire the dont listen to albert. Hes here tonight. Well, in that case. Jimmy it took three years, it was time well spent. It is unbelievable. This movie looks like the real sea. [ cheers and applause ] it really is something. I know you guys going to the premiere.
