metropolitan police department confirms it is conducting an internal investigation after an officer allegedly fired shots in during a dog, the latest in a string of events involving officers. this three-year-old pit bull has injuries to the shoulder and buthip. the shots came from the gun of an npd officer -- mpd. for the district officers were pursuing a man on a bicycle. the dog was not on a leash but the owner said that he would never hurt anyone. >> he began to shoot at my dog. as i was grabbing my dog. he still shooting my daughter. >> this comes as we're learning another officer is off the job and under investigation. police believe one of their own a 12-year veteran witnessed the murder of wyatt robinson and did nothing. first the officer said that she did nothing and then admitted that she witnessed it. >> she should no longer be a police officer. >> i don't see a culture of corruption. maybe they does need to be a little more selective. >> the dog owner would like an developing story from indianapolis. authorities caught up with. an escaped with barksdale escaped from the courthouse yesterday afternoon. authorities found him around midnight in the animal heights neighborhood. he was arrested last week in connection with a shooting in north carolina. now to the mystery in aruba. a lawyer for gary giordano said he will appeal the latest ruling by an aruban judge. on wednesday a judge ordered him to be detained at least 60 more days while police investigate the disappearance of his travel companion robyn gardner of maryland. gary giordano said she was swept away while they were snorkeling, but police say there are inconsistencies in that story. taking a look of the data. a preliminary hearing is set for the man accused in the death of his airline prices. for destinations sounds and resort cities like ocean city already hit hard by hurricane irene, if it is a tough time for them and they are desperate for business this holiday weekend. in the wake of hurricane irene of ocean city is welcoming visitors with open arms. those businesses lost $30 billion in revenue because of the hurricane. -- $30 million in revenue. up to 10 days of lost business. many water fund hotels sustained water damaged and there was some beach erosion. but there's plenty of sand to a share. many businesses say the town is in better shape than where they principal is charged in child pornography and is expected to plead guilty next week. there's a report that joshua myers will enter a guilty plea in federal court in alexandria on tuesday. he was arrested last june and charged with possessing and distributing child pornography. he was an assistant principal at greenville elementary school in beltsville. a growing scandal inside the d.c. police abc 7 news. new developments this morning in the death of maryland congressman elijah cummings' nephew. police are questioning a person of interest in christopher cummings' murder. the 20-year-old was shot in his norfolk home in june. he was a student at old dominion university. islamic was also shot and injured. no arrests have been made so far. questions are selling this morning about the sudden resignation of a top new york city official arrested in georgetown. stephen goldsmith quit his job as deputy mayor yesterday. his resignation comes weeks after d.c. police jailed him for two days after authorities say that he and his wife got into a heated argument at their georgetown home. his wife said the whole thing was a misunderstanding. taking a look a day ahead the woman charged with murdering a co-worker at lululemon store in bethesda has a status hearing today in rockville. the defense is seeking to suppress statements that 28- year-old brittany norwood made to police. she is accused of killing jayna murray in march. her trial begins after the 24th. prosecutors believe accused tucson shooting suspect jared loughner r can eventually stand trial for murder. they're asking the judge for more time to get his mental competency restored. he is currently being held at a prison hospital in missouri. prosecutors want him to undergo another four months of treatment. a hearing on the issue will be held later this month. indiana is announcing plans to divide up a $5 million fund set up for the victims of last month's state fair stage collapsed. priority will be given to relatives of those killed and those seriously injured. victims' lawyers say damages will probably be far greater than $5 million. in just a few hours many families will be hitting the roads for the labor day weekend. right now as you can see, the roads are clear. by late this afternoon the drivers will be filling the highways heading for the beach. >> if you are going to the delmarva peninsula
